When I'm in my car driving around I like listening to country music this is surprising because I'm black and alot of people think that only white people listen to country, well I'm here to tell you that music knows no color. Not only do I like country music but I also like new age music, some rock and I believe I like just about every type of music.
Music is my passion and I love it. What are some of the things that you are passionate about that people say you shouldn't be, for whatever reason?

Agree with you, Ponyboy. Music knows no colors, goes beyond races, and knows no boundaries. Music is the universal language. I listen to different kinds of music, depending on my mood. But the kind of music that I like best are R&B, soul and pop rock. Another thing that I'm passionate about is reading.

Books, magazines, newspaper, anything that I find interesting. For books I like reading fiction, suspense thriller, mystery, romance, health and beauty. Some of my favorites are books written by John Grisham and Sydney Sheldon. I also love reading articles on the net about weird science and unsolved mysteries, features about famous people's lives, and about entertainment. Quite diverse.

Oh Yeah! Now reading I can truly wrap my head around that. Speaking of which, what do you like to read?

In today's globalized world, music don't have borders, neither cultural nor racial. So what if you listen country? Lot of white folks likes blues, which is in a way "black" country music. Besides, most popular rapper (or one of them) is Eminem. And Carlos Santana, Mexican from the birthplace of mariachi music is one of the best rock guitarist ever.
About your question of "strange" things I do, and people don't get it, I would say caving (or spelunking, as it called in US). Basically, an activity that takes you in the underworld, completely dark, often wet and full of mud, not entirely safe, and often physically challenging. And if someone ask me why I go there, the best answer I can come up with is "Because caves exist". It's not possible to explain everything to everyone. People who understand, usually don't ask, those who ask, usually don't even trying to understand.

To each his own! The thing you do called caving (spelunking) is something you like to do and that is what makes you, you. I find it interesting, but there is no way that I could bring myself to do it. For more than one reason I couldn't do it. Have fun and be safe doing it!

Hi ponyboy~I don't think people should categorize anyone for their race or color, there are all types of people of different cultures who like various kinds of things. Once I dated a black man who liked jazz, he didn't seem to like rock though. I'm not going to stereotype anyone here. I think it's great you like all kinds of music and are open to all of it that way too.
I for one have alot of interests in different music. As for those who tell me I shouldn't be passionate about something, I only have one person who tells me that and it is a relative who I believe is insecure and has mental problems of some sort. It seems anything I have an interest in they don't like, no matter what it is. I don't aim to please anyone like that though and figure it is their problem and not mine.

Hey NailTech, You're right you shouldn't have to worry about pleasing anyone else as long as what you do makes you happy, and doesn't interfere with anyone elses life then by all means enjoy!

I listen to what I like and people can't tell me what to listen or not. That's just a misplaced thought. Why would some people do this?
Since when PREFERENCE becomes others preference too? Grow up. I think people who questioned somebody's choice, whether it be food, clothing, music, etc. are people who put someone down because they're not satisfied with their own lives.
It's discrimination too to criticized someone's preference because of their race. That's just overrated!
To follow this up, I'll raise an issue with racial discrimination.
Anyway, ponyboy 448, you rock! Keep your music playing:)

That's what I am talking about! Who do these people think they are trying to tell people what they can and can't listen too. Not only is it not fair, it's just plain not right! So keep doing what you do and don't let anyone stop you.

most of the songs that I used to listen were rock. I loved listening to those kind of musics especially the screamo ones.

Sorry I like all types of music, but the screaming ones I just cannot wrap my head around. Not only do I not understand what they are saying, but sometimes it gives me a massive headache. I only know this because my wife likes listening to that stuff. It is what it is. Keep rockin, and stay golden!

Showing our true interest can be hard sometimes because people will laugh at you and throws funny jokes that hurts our feelings, making us ashamed showing our interests. Respect their opinions, it’s a lot helpful for you. People seeing you this will respect you in the end because you are not affected with the negative compliments but you used it to encourage yourself.

We should not put people in music categories because of their apperarances and lifestyles. I like so mnay different knids of music for different reasons. i don't listen to only one type of music. It opens up many avenues in life when we expand our musical horizons. Never let anyone put you down for the music you listen to. Use your heart to appreciate the music you like to listen to.

I don't think its surprising that you listen to country music. I don't think it matters what color you are. I think too many people make everything about their race. Its really annoying. Color and race makes no difference to most people. There are few who actually do care about race. If they do their stupid. God loves everyone and we should too.

I'm the kind of person who loves listening to music which depends upon my mood. But mostly i enjoy listening to genres of heavy metal, rock and love songs. these genres defines me a lot. and sometimes, whenever I'm alone, i just enjoy music as my company and i feel satisfied and contented. :)

Everybody should listen to the music he or she likes. For example I really love to listen classical music when i study. It is just perfect! But the rest of the time I like to listen to artists which are not mainstream. Gaga, Katy etc. are maybe good singers but just not my cup of tea.
Yann Tiersen is one of my absolute favorites. I couldn't live without him anymore. His music is just perfect and so well written.
