Do you think that in future women can have careers that are more accustomed to men and vice versa?
For example more men are employed in technical activities that deal with planning, building and manufacturing, while women are more engaged with social, educational and can communicate better.
Nurses, secretaries, architects and flight attendants are typical jobs for women. It is rare to see a woman working as a mechanic or a man serving as secretary.
Yet men and women are working in jobs that dominate the genre.
But do you think this trend will change in the future?

It all depend on where you live, in U.S, most of the job you described where traditionally dominated by women are filled with men doing them. Just like i say, it depend on where you live for this trend to continue or change in the future. If you live in a country that placed unlimited retriction on woman rights and freedom, or having to live in a political ruling environment make up by religious zealot, fundamentalist and extremists government officials, then chances are the gender-free trend in work place is not going to happen anytime soon. Those ruling government that make up by mainly men will try to find many reasons to suppress the advancement of women into professional and intellectuals position in their society, and will not give women freedom of choice in their career field, let alone want to assist them to venture into traditional men trade and career field.

Hi rick,
Since there is modernization in every way..i think every job is open for any gender.
The matter is how competent is a person in her/his job
woman can do build a bridge or anything if she have that skill
Even i still see that most relation officer still held by most women

I think it will be and I do hope it will change to that case. As we all know a lot of jobs are suitable for male and vice versa, it makes sense if each exclusive ability has been maximum played. Why not? Of course some special cases also will exist but this will be the normal phenomena.

no...i really dont think this trend wud change because of the basic nature man and woman are made of. man can not become pregnant....science can do that however it wud not possible naturaly...thats god's creation...the basic nature of man and woman wud not change and hence this change of job profile is hard to think of....

I think it won't take long where we would see this happening. Women nowadays are already tapping all markets, there are women engineers, there are women who drives trucks and there are women who are mechanics, and they almost always are as great as the men are - not to mention more patient in dealing with things.
We can of course still say that men should still pursue and not let women - their competitors gain a headstart if they relax too much, before they can even blink, they might realize its a woman's world out there already.

I am almost certain it will. I think that we are still evolving from women staying at home. I do think that while more men stay at home now to take care of the kids, more women eill start to be accepted in jobs that were at one time more classified for the men.
Though we women are found back at home more now, if the economy will allow it, or if we are forced to.

By experience I can tell you that it doesn't matter what kind of profession you have even if you are great in technic as a woman they will seldom take you. Why? Because men don't like women who are great in that too. That makes them feel less. They love to see the woman as the one who takes care, is never ending taking care, always understands, blahblahblah. As long as society thinks/feels that way the only thing we can do is to do what people/society expects from us (otherwise you are jobless, not accepted or called a bith or male-woman). So no I don't think this will happen in the nearest future. It will take ages to change attitude untill now we only talk about it (free rights, same chances, same payment) but the reality is the opposite.

Also I don't think if this change will happen in the future. I think that in some countries this has started to happen but not altogether. There is only a trend. But if you ask a little girl if she wants to be a mechanic or a plane pilot she would probably say no.

Women and men already do those jobs. So really it wouldn't change at all. There women that I know that are mechanic's plumbers, constrution workers. There are men that do teaching, nursing and so one. It world probably stay the same now as its been for years.

Why do we have to wait for the future? :D There are many men who do women's job and hey do it very well. Don't you realize that most chefs in restaurants or hotels are men and they cook very delicious meals? :) And don't you realize that women are really better in social, educational, and communication skills? Why do you think there are more female teachers in schools? :) In my country, there are many women who work as construction workers, bus drivers, and other men's job. And in a movie "Bride Wars" and "Cake", the secretaries are men, too. So there are no exact domination in jobs right now. I think what we have now is the people who really capable in doing the job itself. :)

i guess so..this might happen in the future because this days..
example for a family that has 8 members..6 children and parent..its more practical that both parents must work due to larging scale of home bills..e.g..electric bills..internet connection..tuition fees and allowances..etc etc..
woman must take to its next level nowadays..
you with me..?

In my opinion, in the short term, men would still dominate the world of sciences, technology and technical activities, the interest of women in these few sectors are still relatively low, the same situation applies to men, very few of them are interested to take jobs such as nurse, secretaries and so on. This is not a matter of equality but a matter of different interests and talents of the sexes. Maybe in the far future, this situation will change, but it will take quite a long time, I assume.
