Hello mylotters!
I admit I love eating junk foods. When I go to grocery, I don't forget to include it the cart. My boyfriend too loves to eat a particular junk food. Also, I have a friend of mine who already stopped eating junk foods because she wants to lose weight because it is part of her dieting process. I remember I would tease her about junk foods and I would let her see me eating.
I would just like to know what would be the possible effects of too much eating of junk foods guys? I am kind of health conscious now so I would to make sure I eat right.
Happy mylotting. Sharing is loving.

I also like to eat some sort of junk foods yet I do not patronize it for lunch or dinner because the traditional ways of preparing our foods are still the safest ways to make our family healthy instead of consuming these junk foods. It is not safe to consume these kinds of foods for snacks of children or adults alike because constant eating these foods could make oneself becomes malnourished because it lacks many healthy ingredients.

It is not good for it to be a substitute as a food for dinner or lunch. I don't think it is such a good idea. We should eat nutritious foods that will help our body's growth and gain energy. Yes, my friend it is not safe eating these always because it has bad effects like obesity. It has also little amount of nutrients.

As far as I know junk foods has plenty of salt contents in most brands that says it has more nutrients just to earn the favor of buyers.I am just contented to have some few bites from a package of junk foods but not to the extent to consume all of its contents. It is not in my attitude and mannerism to consume all sorts of junk foods.I just wanted a taste of it.

I remember the saying "Too much is bad for us." So, as much as possible I don't want to fully eat them all. For me not to waste food (I suddenly then remember my discussion about not wasting food) I try to share it with others. It is fun when we eat it together with our friends and relatives.

Eating too much fatty or greasy foods are bad for our diets because they can increase our fat, and by doing so it also increases our risk for high blood pressure and cholosterol. Also the better it tastes, most likely the more processed and artificial it is.
You also have to beware because the boxes can and do lie. It may say that it's heatlhier for you then it really is. I've read articles about checking and understanding the boxes ingredients from top to bottom. For instance, there are very many names for sugars, and an ingredients list can list five or six without you even knowing it.
Also, juices even. It's better to make your own almost because name brand juices that are supposed to be healthy for you aren't. Like a juice might say 100% juice, but underneath it in lower font says "from concentrate".
You've got to check these things. If it says organic it's better for you as it's less processed.

You are quite welcome. As a cashier of a store I see a lot of food come through and know from what I see what is healthier and what isn't. Also, here in the USA we have WIC which I forget what it stands for but basically it's for mothers in need of buying food for their children. Everythin on the "wic approved" list is healthy because nothing can be unehatlhy on that program.

So you are a cashier my friend. I am proud of cashiers for they deal with money and also with costumers.
My friend, base as what I have searched, WIC stands for Women, Infants and Children. USA is so nice for they makes it sure what they are selling are should be fit and healthy for everybody. Long live USA!

I will certainly take note of the things you have said here my friend. Good thing I am not used to eating this everyday. Thanks to my mom for she prevented me eating too much of this stuff.
I also noticed on the packs of the junk foods that are very tempting to buy because of the product lines. I think those state in the packs could somehow the opposite about the nutritional value of the food. So it is much more better to double check before buying.
All in all, thanks a lot my friend. I really appreciate how you have enumerated to me what I needed to know about these things.

The reason we eat is not to fill the empty space in our stomach. The idea is to keep our blood and tissue and organs healthy so that they function properly. Junk food has very little nutrition to it so it does not do the job food is meant to do. Consequently, if you overindulge in junk food, it's only natural that your body will not be functioning as well as it could. You can only keep up your bad habits for a certain time then it will be too late. You will become ill and it will take some biig changes to recover.
Good luck!

Thanks a lot for your beautiful response. I love what you have said about eating junk foods. You are right, only small amount of nutrition we will be able to absorb from eating them and most of it are bad that will eventually lead to bad health. The more we eat them, it will be hard for us to stop the eating habit. Thus, as early as now, we must lessen or fully stop eating junk foods and other foods which will ruin our health.
More power to you my friend!

I think junk food is junk- but I still love eating it to- maybe they put addictive substances in it. it is full of preservatives and I don't even believe the nutrition stuff they write in the back. I try to avoid it but we do buy it once a month so we won't be depraved..

Well the problem with junk foods is it contains too much of sodium. Too much sodium is bad for our kidneys. Plus it may also cause hypertension plus weight gain and obesity.

I have noticed if we eat so much of junk foods, we get so many complications. What if we get all this? Then probably we will die. It is time to be preventive and conscious about our health. It all starts in us. Have a good diet and drink lots of water.

Loving junk foods and be its admirer for long spell of time would pose real danger to your health status. In fact, the whole world is recognizing the worst aspects of fast food liking.

Speaking of fast food, I have been eating on the fast food chains. I know it is not good and I am aware of the danger of our health. But I just can't refuse myself to eat those foods. Anyhow, I am trying to convince myself to step backward and go to a different path which is the healthy living. I know this would be a hard process but I believe I will be able to succeed. Yes, the world is facing so many problems and this is just one of them.

Hello cearn, personally I really love to eat junk foods before. My favorite is Piattos, the barbeque one and oishi the spicy one, hmmm kind a craving now hehe.
Right now, I almost quit eating junk foods. It has been two or three years since I last ate junk foods. That is really the sad part of my life. Junk foods are really meant to be delicious and fun to eat. Even though we have junk foods at home right now, still I disciplined myself not to eat them. My sister likes junk foods, so that explained why we have junk foods at home.
The reason why I quit eating junk foods is because I realized how harmful the junk foods can be when taken constantly in a large amount of quantity in our body. One factor is heart disease. Some junk foods contained bad cholesterol. Bad cholesterol is the main cause of heart disease.
Junk foods also contained monosodium glutamate. MSG is a flavor enhancer, which is the main ingredient of a junk food. MSG was known to be carcinogenic. When I say carcinogenic, it is an agent or substance that can cause cancer.
If you noticed, there are a lot of people who are suffering from cancer, mostly colon cancer. It is sad to say MSG is also being used in other instant foods like noodles, pancit canton, and even can goods, not to mention, they also contained preservatives, which are also an agent that can cause cancer.
I was given the privilege to work in a health care industry and for the most part I worked with doctors assisting them on patient medical records. The main diseases that I used to encounter are coronary artery disease, diabetes, cancer, liver disease, obesity and others.
So we should really avoid these carcinogenic foods if possible. I am not saying to avoid this completely since there are times that friends and even relatives will invite us to eat some junk foods, just do not take it too much.
One thing also I noticed when we eat junk foods, we become so hyperactive.
Also, for the most part, rich people do suffer a lot of diseases compared to the poor ones. One main reason is because rich people can afford buying expensive foods and most of the foods that they buy are junk foods, instant foods, etc., like ham to name a few. They all contained preservatives and they are very dangerous to our health especially when taken constantly.
Compared to the poor ones, there is a very low probability that they will get sick and will get diseases like cancer. The reason is because the poor people mainly eat fresh vegetables, fish and other meats.
I also want to share this with you, my experience with beggars who live in the streets and asking for alms. In our province, it has been 4 years when I always encountered a beggar at a town. Everytime I go to town, I always see this beggar. He only sleeps on the floor, sometimes at the sidewalk. I wonder how this beggar able to survive without getting any diseases. One time, I saw this beggar eating some foods in the garbage, yet he is still strong and active. Wow, I must say GOD is really good because He feeds this kind of people.
That's all I wanted to say hehe. So from now on, erase junk foods in your diet. GOD bless.

You've got so much to say my friend. I really love those people who don't ran out of words to say. Very informative. I appreciate it a lot. You have stated you reason why you have to quite these kind of foods. I understand now. Base also what our friends here have said, eating junk foods could lead to serious disease that we don't even expect we will have just because of eating anything. We have to be really now strict to our diet. Speaking of diet, some people are confused with diet means. Diet for other people which I see as wrong diet tends to be they only eat a little and the essential nutrients are not present.
Thanks for sharing to me your experiences. It is a pleasure for me when I hear people's experiences in life. God on the other hand has plans for us. He doesn't want us to leave nothing.

Depends on the junk food? What are you eating?
Look at the back of the packages. If it's mostly sugar, tooth decay would be one. Calories that you're not burning off is another.
If it's mostly fat, depends on the kind of fat, some kinds clog arteries. Then you get a heart attack.
Read the information on the back and research the ingredients. Also the ratios. One bag of chips might have too much salt and artery clogging fat. Another bag of chips might have more potasium (which is a good thing), less salt (which might be a good thing), and fat that doesn't clog arteries. So one bag would be bad for you whenever you ate it, but the other bag might be OK once a week in moderation if you brushed your teeth afterward and made sure no pieces got stuck in your teeth or under your gumline.
So there are many things to consider and it's best to educate yourself about food in general. Then read the back of bags specifically.

Yes it is depends there are certain junk foods here in our place which are made of vegetables so they are taking the nutritional value of food. But I am not on the side of the junk food so don't make yourself confuse.
As much as possible I really read those labels in the packages of the foods. It is important to know what is inside of the food so that we may be able to decide it is right for us or not.
Thanks!

Junk food makes one fat, unhealthy and lose all appetite for proper meals.. haha I used to like junk food as well and i can spend my whole day eating them continuously I was eating so much of it till i nearly put on 5kg within a month. When i know that my fitness performance is suffering, i cut it out immediately. It was a tedious process, much worse than trying to quit smoking.. lol Now i'm still snacking, but i'm onto healthy snacks such as roasted almonds, cashew nuts, yogurts and fruits ^^

In our refrigerator, junk foods are not allowed. It is a no no. What my mom puts in their are delicious snacks like what you are also eating. I love yogurts. It is my snack also. I am also practicing how to cook and bake. Since then, I want to have a more healthy lifestyle so I have to cut eating junk foods. They are not good for the body when eaten too much!

Junk foods are so evil. They try to tempt us an ruin our diet program. My friend, junk food is not good as a food for the lunch. Look what has the effect of the junk foods that you are eating, it seems like your skin look paled and not blooming. Good thing you stopped making it as your lunch. Maybe you can try taking some supplements and eating the right kind of food. Don't depend much on junk foods. Remember that what we eat is so clear because it is being shown in our body on what is its effect on us.

Junk food is very hard to resist, take it from an athlete haha it is a daily struggle trying to make the right food choices. You must be careful not to over do it. Too much junk food can result in weight gain which can led to heart problems, diabetes and other health problems

I have classmates who are athlete in school, one time I had a conversation with her, she told me we are lucky those who are not athlete because we can just eat the foods we want to eat and drink what we want to drink. For them, they are not allowed to drink softdrinks and eat junk foods in order to keep their body fit. They must avoid also fatty foods. They have to bring always water with them to keep them hydrated.

Eating junk
food ‘can cause
depression
Eating junk food is not only
bad for your waistline but also
for your mental health, says a
new study.
British and French scientists
analyzed food and mood data from 3,486 men and women
(average age 55) working in a
London office, reports
MSNBC.com.
The
researchers found that high consumption of the processed
foods was more likely to lead
to depression, while people
who ate healthier were least
likely to be depressed.
"Our finding shows a strong association between diet and
depressive symptoms after
controlling for a large range of
socio-demographic factors, and
for health behaviors such as
smoking, physical activity, and health status," the New York
Daily News quoted the study's
author, Tasnime Akbaraly, as
saying.
"The effect of diet on
depressive symptoms didn't go down after we adjusted for
other indicators of a healthy
lifestyle, such as smoking,
physical activity, and bodymass.

Seems like a complete turn around - from a junk food lover to a health conscious individual. Totally poles apart. But if you actually set your mind on it, it's not that difficult to leave the junks and embrace the healthy way of living. I went on a (serious) diet program back in November 2011 and the hardest part was leaving all the food that make me happy, that is, junk food and those that are loaded with carbs. It took so much determination and discipline, but I did get through and now I'm enjoying my new lifestyle, healthy living. Possible effects of eating too much junk food? gaining more weight than you like or necessary, obesity, possibility of developing diabetes, kidney failure, high blood pressure, to name a few. Your choice which way to go.

Yes, my friend I would like to make a big change in my eating habit. Little by little I am taking the path to a healthy living. It is very hard to make such hard decisions but I know this is the right choice I have made. I can't just be always dependent on junk foods and other foods.
I can see that you did a perfect job with your diet program. Determination and proper disciplining of yourself is a key to be successful for your aim to reach. If we are really determine to take such challenge, I know we can do it no matter what.
Thanks for pointing out the possible effects my friend.

Because of the huge amounts of preservatives they contain, we should expect that junk food will make us live longer
The problem is that they often put everything in junk food what otherwise couldn't be sold Plus junk food is full of artificial flavors that make it taste great and make us addicted to it.
I admit I eat them once in a while too, but best would be to avoid them or eat less of them.

You are right. Those companies making junk foods put a lot of additives which makes the product more and more delicious or just tastes great that people are inclined to buy and eat. It is just okay eating them as long as it is eaten with a limited sort. We shouldn't eat much.

Me too! I also love eating junkfood but I stop for awhile because I also want to lose some weight. I think that was what's making me gain more. But it has become my comfort food for a long time and I do crave from time to time. So I eat sometimes now :D. But what I notice that when I eat junkfood I become more hungry or my cravings for food will appear. I do not know if it was just psychological but anyways that is my experience with junkfood.

More and more people now are becoming health conscious. I have so many classmates, to be exact there are 3 girls and 1 boy who promised not to eat junk foods and avoid other fatty foods too. There fat and they want to lessen the fat in their body. They are taking fat burners and some of them would jog everyday.
For you, craving for junk foods is so nice but we should only eat enough or less than enough my friend if you are trying to lose some weight. Junk foods has various effects not just physically but emotionally.

I have a big problem with junk food as well. But i am also trying to not really go on a diet but at least try and cut back on things like the junk foods. I have sat down and really thought about this one for myself. Eatting junk food is not healthy at all. You will gain weight from eatting it and you will not loss weight. But i have found that number one not buy it and if you feel like you are going to buy it then just dont even go near that section of the store. I have found that if you get fruit or something like pork rins and eat them when you would normally eat the junk food then you can get use to that.

You have a very nice suggestion! I have decided to myself that whenever I will go to the grocery store, I will not also go to the junk foods section. You know what, it is very tempting to cross its section. It is so yummy even I just stare at them. Feels like drooling though. Anyway, I give a thumps up to that. I will not include it in my grocery list then. I have learned from you that if we will not buy it, then there is a high probability that we will not be more dependent on junk foods.
Thanks a lot!
