Snacks at the office.. I love that concept!!! My Project team does the same thing. They go ahead & order food at a drop of a hat. There are no reasons/excuses required to order some food or snacks...
I personally feel that though snacking is unhealthy, it really makes where you work a "fun place to work".. :D But, you have to remember - one should not indulge in this activity so often. It removes the excitement & spontaneity. But, I still love this idea. :D

It's been a habit lately that I kept on hearing them what to have for snacks. Sometimes they would contribute money and ask a senior citizen employee to buy the snacks for them to avail the 20% senior citizen discount. I always thought that eating together as if a family would be part of teambuilding. But nowadays, I am annoyed with what they are doing and I thought that it is a waste of time.

I think it becomes a habit of your office mates to have snacks during that time. You're maybe right, it's probably boredom or maybe stress removal. What's important is we should be health conscious and our work should not be affected while eating. Or else, the boss will go martial law on you eating policy. :)

lunch time is at noon here in our office and sometimes its become part of the habit between us officemates to go on snack by 4 pm. usually by that time when no one's got their meetings, etc we get to have time for ourselves and just spend time have some ice cream cone, etc and just pass time. we have a break of 30 minutes and we're pretty much okay doing it. we do not have snacks as early as 230 because we would still be very full that time.

They wouldn't want to eat snacks at 4pm because they are about to leave during those time. Actually, they are packing their things and keeping documents at the filing cabinets. For me, I would like to have snacks after work at my daughters' school. Usually, my daughters stay after school for several extra curricular activities and that is the time that I could have a light snack while waiting for them. I wouldn't want a heavy snack because I would love to eat dinner with the family.

oh...at least I think you are at the comfort of your home.
I fight boredom at the office by logging in to mylot not by eating especially those candies. I would love to bring that home to my children if ever I got one. they love Skittles too and its very expensive here in the Philippines.

A cup of tea would always be nice but not till 5 cups a day. And drinking tea or coffee could be done while working. But not a full snack as in an order of a pizza or something heavier when you need your both hands to the extend that you need to stop working. Then they would watch the television and by the time they are done, it is almost 5pm, time to go home.

Well to me it give you a chance to relax for a bit. Having some thing to eat or even have a cup of Tea allow you to breathe a bit. Some time I do get lazy after Lunch but A cup of Tea get that head working again.

I guess it's normal on your situation. A cup of tea or coffee would surely be relaxing and would keep you going. But in the case that people are thinking of the next thing to eat after eating a full meal or lunch, I would think that it is something else.

There are times that I want to eat non-stop at the office if I'm not that busy, maybe there are psychological explanation on that. I can feel hunger if I'm not busy or doing nothing. At the same time office is the best place to eat, the room is cold and quiet so it the best time to eat.

Hi there R3jcorp,
In my case, I think boredom just struck me that is why I realized that I needed something to do...and the first thing that would come up in my mind (most minds) would be to eat.
And it's also the easiest.
And I hate feeling that way so rather than eat...I would go find a way to keep myself busy from other things rather than eating.
Happy Mylotting!
