My Current Obsessions...what is yours?

Hello everyone, do you have an obsession that you want to make it true or a goal you want to reach? or simply just something you really want to buy?
as for me, my current obsessions are:
- improve my English: I think English is very important to learn, the fact that we must use English here on mylot is encouraging me to learn this language and also next semester I must take a TOEFL test in my university because every student regardless their faculty must take a TOEFL test before we are allowed to write a thesis. The minimum score I need to reach in order to pass the test is 420...Oh My God, the highest score that anyone ever reached in my university was 480, so I must study hard to pass the test (not forget that TOEFL test is not cheap for me!!!). By mastering English language I think it will give a lot of benefits for me, I can express my ideas when participate a discussion on mylot better, I can communicate with people from other country, it help me to share experience and knowledge with other people from different country and culture. As you know my new hobbies are crochet and knit, but most of video tutorials and pattern are in English, it is hard to find a tutorial written in my language. So I bought TOEFL books, and guess what...I got these book for $1.5 for each 2books ($0.75/book) yes...there was a sale in the bookstore near my home and the books are all brand new not second hand book (but actually I dont mind to buy second hand book as long as it is in good condition) so Im really excited to learn English.
- Tatting: tatting is an art of craft in making lace, it can be used as edging of doilies, collars and we can also make jewelries (necklaces, rings, bracelets). I think tatting is really nice, I've learnt the basic of knit and crochet, then I learnt amigurumi so I think it is time to teach myself about tatting. All I need is to buy tatting shuttles and threads but I read that cro-tatting (combination between crochet and tatting) is much easier than tatting with shuttles. And I need to sit infront of my laptop and browse videos on youtube to watch tatting tutorial, im sure there are a lot of videos about tatting on youtube.
so what is your current obsession and what do you to make your obsession come true? any tips and advices for me?

Hello fashion fever. I am glad to find a TOEFL interested here, even am applying for further education. And i agree with your point that mylot is helpful in some way to improve English. Though I have given my TOEFL exam and it got good but i do feel i need more to improve English. It would glad to hear from you more and helping each other to reach our goal. That is good to know. It would be very helpful to you in future for sure. I am too now actively participating here on Mylot to use my vocabulary in a more efficacious way. The problem with GRE and TOEFl exams are they demand a very high level English vocabulary and the English words related are intransigent to our daily conversations. Though we learn them English words but hardly use then in our day-to-day conversations, so i think, participating in such responses can be helpful.
So what do you do? And where are you planning for abroad studies?

hello my friend and again thank you for sharing your tips how to passed the TOEFL test and I never took this test before so I kinda need tips and advices what to do to pass it. one of mylot members suggested me to take enough rest a day before the test so it can make me fresh and relax. Im not sure when is the test will be held but I think it is about 6 months from now since I missed the last test which was held last week. I will take your advice about vocabulary and I will participate more and more on mylot, try to learn more about synonims, antonyms, etc so it can help to add more vocabulary.
I dont have plan to study, I need to take the test because it is a requirement in my university. Im in the 6th semester now, and soon I will write a thesis in order to finish my university degree. So how about you? what is your plan? are going to study abroad?

Hello thugstyle21, thanks for the friendship I already approved your request. isnt it nice to find people who have same interest here so we can share experience and tips with other people. I believe practice makes perfect, the best way to improve our English skill is by practicing it. What I do is printing my own responses and then I will show it to my lecturer, ask her to help me to find error in my responses that I posted here on mylot so I know where did I go wrong and how to correct my mistake. It is a slow work because I know she is busy with her teaching job and also her family but she is happy to help me.

nOW COMING TO MY OBSESSION...My goals keep changing depending on the situation and the state of living.But i tried attaining most of my goals.
Currently,my goal is to earn money online.I want to see my blog on the top in the search engine,for which i need to increase it readibility and visibilty.
I always wanted to do something different since childhood and i have succeeded in doing that till date.Now by creating my blog i want to prove my capabilities publicly.

Hello lekhya, thank you for very wishing me to pass the TOEFL test. you have a nice goal, I dont know much about earning money online but Im wishing you the best and you can reach your goal very soon. Talking about blogging, I think it is related to SEO search engine optimation. my blog used to be on the top 5 of search engine but then I did not update it for a long time, the last time I updated the blog was june 2011 so I dont know where is my blog now. I think you need to update your blog more often and write related stuff to the keywords so the chance to get your blog on the top of search engine list is gonna be high. Write something that you like so you can enjoy it and you dont see updating your blog as a burden but it is gonna be fun. I have problem maintaining my blogs so I closed several blog because I cant keep it up with fresh update.

My current obsession is my desire to go into business for myself in the near future. It's gone to being a dream to being a goal, and now I'm in the advanced planning stages. Honestly, I reckon 70-80% of my thinking is dominated by the subject, from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night. I'm always thinking about where I can source stock, what my best selling strategies are, how to add value to products, how to organise the admin side. I hardly think about anything else lately. Still, it'll pay off if I can get my ideas to work.
By the way, you're doing OK with the English.

Good luck with the boutique. It sounds to me like you've got the right business plan there - starting off with what you can do and then building up in stages. If you know how to make craft items you've got a head start - you may well have thought of this already, but some people sell hand-crafted stuff on Ebay. Incidentally, it sounds like we've got at least one motivation in common - I don't seem to be able to fit into other people's organisations either. I always seem to run foul of some boss who doesn't like me asking questions or making constructive suggestions - at least if I'm my own boss there won't be any arguments!

Everything started with a dream then how we pursue our dream to make it real, I see that you are being serious to reach your goal and I wish you the best in life and for your future business. I know how it feel to have desire into business because I myself have the same passion. I dont like to work with other people, I mean I want to be a boss of my own. So having my own business means i can manage everything and I dont have to be dictacted by other people. That is a good start to pursue your dream, by making a plan of what you gonna do with your business it can help you to prepare your future.
I want to open a small boutique but I dont have the fund yet to make my dream come true. So what i do now is making craft and learning fashion style, just do it step by step until I can reach my goal. I believe that I can start a business by my own even I dont have a lot of capital/fund to start it. Where there is a will there will be a way, and last but not least is that we love what we are doing.

I forgot to say thanks for the suggestion to start business through ebay, actually I have not sell anything on ebay but i bought my craft supplies from ebay and I resell it here. I got a set of knitting needles for less than $3 on ebay + free shipping while in offline store in my town it cost about $30/set the same exact items, I'll sell it cheaper than the store and I will still get profit from it plus I will offer free tutorial to attract the customers.

for one, i have been forever obsessed with chocolates lol. need i say more of this?
second, face painting, i want to know it more, master it more, i love it and i enjoy it and i might make a future out of it..too bad my husband doesn't think so.. anyways i am still pursuing it. http://booksaremyrealities.wordpress.com/category/arts/ i shared the ones i tried here...
third, i am obsessed with Adele. She got this big soulful voice. damn she is very good.
fourth, blogging. I want to be a very good writer, so i do it by blogging. I am not the best but i do not think i am bad...oftentimes i just ran out of ideas to write.
and fifth new obsession, learn to speak a foreign language, right now. Italian.

Hello Jazel_Juan, Im so happy you shared your obsession with me and it give me motivation to make my dream come true because it is nice to see people having spirit to reach their goal. Did you mention chocolates? where where where? oh my God, my mouth is watering now I think eating chocolate while mylotting is great, the taste of chocolate gonna make my mind work better but oh God it is 10PM here :( i cant go out to buy my favourite chocolate.
Im checking the link you gave, you are an artist and I enjoy seeing the face painting you posted. It is so beautiful and artistic. I cant paint and I've never find face painting in my town but I guess I can go for henna painting. If you lived in my town I would like to get a face painting by you.
Ah I remember your advice on my previous discussion and you mentioned Adele's song. I listen to this song "someone like you" and her voice makes me shiver. I agree with you she has wonderful voice. do you sing too? I cannot sing but i love music.
hehehehe Im not a good blogger and I think I've abandoned my blog since year ago but strange I still get income from it. sometime there are so many ideas in my mind but when I sit infront of my laptop the ideas are vanished hahaha.
Italian language sound nice, as for foreign language I want to learn is Japanese and English.

i had many obsession in my life maybe fashionfever..
but i think it is not wisely i say here one by one..right??
i just only say from one of my current obssesion about my hoping about my internet income..
i do hope my earning from internet can increse two times from now...i do hope i can get many clue from several sites that i follow, so i can get between $150-$200 a month..it was a great amount and i do hope that earning can be used for investing in another business..
but maybe it can be done in the end of this year maybe, if i get the clue...

$900 is a big amount of money, are you sure that he is telling the truth? Has he ever proved it that he actually earns $900 each month from internet? I know that some people earn good money from internet but surely they put a hard effort and then need a good strategic to earn it. I know your main income is your salary as a lecturer hehehe have you get the certificated intensif? thats a big of money, quiet lurking me.

Hello adhyz, thank you for sharing your goal and obsession with me. but i dont see there is a problem if you want to share all your goals and obsessions here, perhaps we can trade tips and tricks how to reach your goals.
internet income has never been my talent because I dont have much time to open internet, so how do you reach your goal? what are the source of your internet income? $200 is such a big amount of money to earn from internet but if you know the trick then Im sure you can reach your goal. How about opening an online shop? perhaps you can sell something that you can find in your city but hard to find in other province, so people from other province can come to your online store to buy it there.
I wish you the best and hope you reach your goal soon, and dont forget to treat me lunch when you have fulfill your dream to earn a lot of money from internet.

My current obsessions are pretty much everywhere at the moment.
Music- I can't live without it
Shopping- I heart fashion :)
Fashion- My style is everywhere so I look through lookbooks to find a unique look I guess
Education- I need knowledge
Reading- Genre really does not matter, I do prefer humor though. Also, nothing boring or stretching out the plot that the book loses it's purpose
Doodling- It's everywhere, I do it all the time
Being organized- I feel like it's a must have for me
Making Chevron and other style friendship bracelets- Fun to do and I can be creative
These are pretty much my obsessions. Although I will probably never get rid of them, I take everything one step at a time. For example, everyday I'll focus on each of these things, whether I am doing it at the same time or for short period separately to a point of satisfaction. All I can say is take things slow, piece by piece. I'd say spend an hour & thirty minutes on each obsession, then spend the rest of the day focusing on something else so you don't lose your sanity. I spend about twenty to thirty minutes with mine, and it's not as bad as it used to be. Trust me, I just could not do anything else in the day. Now I really don't know if I should call these obsessions anymore, they're kind of like hobbies now :)

Hello 7chords, wow what an interesting obsessions you have!!! I do love music too, when I was a little kid I used to play music instrument but then time changed and I dont remember how to read the chord anymore. I will add it on my interest but I dont think I can do it in the near future because I dont have piano at home. I completely agree with you I cannot live without music, but for now being a music listener is more than enough. Fashion, education, reading oh my.. that is so alike me...hehehe that is why I use Fashionfever as my username, I dont want to be a fashion follower but I want to make my own style. friendship bracelet? that is sound good, do you have picture of it because it might inspired me to create that kind of bracelet. I think giving a handmade gift to friend is nice because we make it with our heart.
Thank you for the wonderful tips to take everything a step by step because if we take it all im afraid i might get bored easily and abandon the obsessions. to spend an hour or 2 hours/day is good because we still can do another activity and i agree with your idea to treat the obsession as hobbies, when we treat it as hobby we will enjoy it better than treat it as obsession which sound like a force and might burdened our self.

Lol, it's great how you can find people with things that you both have in common on mylot. I am not much of a fashion follower myself, I may like shoes from one store, but get a top from a thrift store. I guess I might as well say I make the outfit, I just buy the clothing articles from different places.
As for the friendship bracelets, I do not have a picture of the ones I have made since no one has ever asked lol. They are mostly seen on etsy and here's a picture of the style. If you look on etsy there are the other different chevron styles as well :)

those bracelets are really nice, I love the colours specially the purple one. it is my favorite color. So, my current obsessions are "online earning sites" like mylot, and thinking about my girlfriend, as we are stationed far apart now
My goals include -
1. To finish reading books that I bought with so much love but couldn't read yet.
2. To have a more narrow picture of what I would do in the future in the field of environment conservation, after passing out of my post graduation.

Yes, I've resolved to start reading at least one book that I bought. I'm finding it difficult to read now as I am on a field work and just roaming from place to place with a hectic schedule. But I will surely start reading now.
And yes, craft is an excellent hobby and you can also make it a profession!! Selling crafts online is an excellent idea!!

That is good you started to read the book you bought. having a hectic schedule is kinda hard for everyone but I hope by reading a book it can refresh your mind. I bought these books about folklore for children, John Grisham's novel,and Detective Conan Case Closed Comic, so its kinda refreshing to read these books.
Talking about wedding it gave me inspiration to make craft as wedding souvenir and then I will start to sell it so I can earn money from my hobby. I make craft from batik garment, we can make it as cellphone purse, clutch, keychain, etc. I've seen so many online stores selling this kind of souvenirs so i will try my luck.

At the moment, my current obsession is eating Dewberry cookies. I love eating them so much, I'm so addicted to eating it. I eat it every time of the day. My mom sometimes have to scold me for eating too much and when sometimes I'm too full to eat it, I still want to eat it!

Yes, it's a two sided biscuit with cream inside and at the center is a berry jam. Hard to explain. Hope you find dewberry cookies. I know too much is never good but whenever we like something especially a food very much, we just can't stop it even if we know it's not good, right?

Hello autumndreamer, i've never heard about dewberry cookies and i browsed it to know what is dewberry cookies and it make my mouth watering because it is looks so delicious. Now I understand why you are obsess to this cookies, I will take a look at nearby store tomorrow to see if I can find this kind of cookies. I know how you feel when I like something I feel that I cant stop to eat or drink it. I think your mom is right, anything that is too much is not good for us.

Every person has his or her own obsession. My current obsessions as of this moment are:
Gadgets- Cannot live without them especially my laptop and iphone 4. I am using these two gadgets everyday.
Fashion- I am no fashionista but i like reading fashion magazines and update myself with the latest trends.
Blogging- I have my own space on the world wide web that I consider my second home. It is where I rant my problems in life.
Shopping- One of my stress busters. It feels good to get whatever you wanted for yourself.
Mylot- Yes, it is one of my favorite websites today. It allows me to express myself and to interact with other people from different parts of the world.
Make-up- I cannot leave the house without wearing a light make-up. I look pale without make up on especially blush on.
Banapple- I am currently addicted to apple caramel crumble pie. :D
and the list goes on and on. LOL

Gadgets..I cant deny that gadget has become part of our daily life and Im happy you enjoy your gadgets. Iphone 4 is a great phone, the design so elegant and Im sure it is useful to your activity. I want an android tablet because my laptop is broken and im using my dad's laptop now. I cannot afford to buy Apple's gadget even I think Ipad looks so nice, but I must check my budget. So is there any other gadget that you want to buy?
Fashion & Shopping...the same as you I like fashion and this is the reason why I use fashionfever as my name..it is like fashion forever :D
I've stopped blogging since a year ago, because I ran out of ideas and I was too lazy to updating my blog. so here I am on mylot, and mylot has become my space to rant and vent my problems.
I think to apply makeup on our face needs a talent and its kind of art, I dont know how to apply make up and the only thing i wear beside face powder is eyeliner. I dont know how to wear blush on and when I wear it on my face, its like someone has punched me and left mark on my face. So I think you are lucky to have the talent to apply makeup on your face.
Banapple? apple caramel crumble pie? I never ate it before but it sound delicious. aww my mouth is watering now but I have no idea where I can buy this delicious pie.

Good luck with your obsessions! He he. Keep coming on MyLot and reading & responding to discussions and I'm sure your English will improve dramatically. "Tatting" also sounds cool. At first I thought you meant getting or giving tattoos . But that sounds like a cool hobby. My current obsessions are:
1.) eBay! I start selling things on eBay about 3 weeks ago and have made some good money, and have gotten rid of a lot of clothes & shoes that I haven't worn in forever. It feels nice to make money too. I can't quit checking on my current selling auctions every couple of hours to see if I've gotten more bids - it's become quite the addiction! I rationalized that it's better that I am addicted to SELLING on eBay than buying; that could get me into some big trouble! .
2.) MyLot - I've been trying to post 50 times or more per day on MyLot. I know it's quality over quantity, but I am excited to add a new digit to my post number -- I am excited for my new milestone, which will be 10,000, and hopefully I will reach it by the end of the month! If not sooner! Plus I am putting all of my online earnings to my credit cards - I want to get out of credit card debt soooo bad!
3.) Working out! I just started about 2 weeks ago. I have been trying to do it 6 days a week, and go on a 4 mile walk the other day. So far it's been going good (although I skipped Sunday, as I was feeling lazy). I am craving the endorphin rush that comes right after a great workout.
Those are my current obsessions. I am the type of person that goes through phases of liking stuff, though, so ask me again in 2 weeks and I'll probably have a bunch of different, new obsessions.

Hello Maezee thank you for the respond and for encouraging me to improve my English by participate more and more on mylot. I try to spend more time here to read and to participate, it's 9am here and actually Im supposed to prepare myself before my class but Im sneaking and spend a little time that I have to be here. It is a kind of new obsession and new addiction. I cant resist it when my cellphone buzzing give an alert that I have new email from mylot discussion.
Reading your respond has give me a new inspiration and motivation, I never tried to sell/buy on eBay but I might think about it in the future. Im glad you make money from it and help you to get rid the things that you dont use. Im thinking to sell my handmade and craft but I will try etsy.com because I dont know how to use eBay.
posting 50 posts/day is really challenging, my goal is to reach 200 and I think I will pass it soon then I can use the smiley icons. wow you almost reach 10,000 posts its indicated that you really love and enjoy mylot, I dont know when I will reach that number but someday I will and that is my new goal. 295 posts to go until you reach 10,000 posts \(*_*)/
working out is a great goal and im sure you can do it, I think you deserve a day of being lazy that will be every sunday so that you wont get bored of your goal. as for me Im always being lazy, I wanted to go biking but my laziness is still take control on me so I dont do it yet.
Im happy you share your goals and obsessions with me, it is nice to have new inspiration and motivation to make it true.

Nice list you got there. I would like to enrol in a media and arts class and get a diploma so that I can get a nice job related to multimedia arts. I'm a big digital art fan, especially in computer graphics related jobs in movies and film. I'm a big fan of modern digital artists who excel in matte painting and straight up painting using computer applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Painter. They're doing a pretty great job at it. Their works are so realistic, you won't know it's just a painting.

Another goal I'd like to achieve is to be a 3d character modeler and animator. The animation movies today are so refined that the animation catches your attention fully and puts you in the movie. They're the people I kind of look up to because they're so dedicated to their work into bringing the characters they've created to life.

hello frontvision101, thank you for sharing your goals, and even I dont know much about art and multimedia class but I think it is nice for you to learn this subject. art and multimedia is pretty booming now and we can use it in many fields and not forget that the salary is quiet promising so Im wishing you the best and hope you reach your goal very soon. I love movie and animation, and I really admire those who has devoted their time and skill to make animation movies so people can enjoy watching it. it is nice to learn and work on something we love so we enjoy doing it.

a pleasant day fashionfever,
with reference to your main topic, i too have some obsessions. an obsession which is a combination of material and non-material thing. among of the material things are the new techie gadgets that being released such as IPAD Tablets, Burger Speakers, Netbooks, DSLR gadgets, a brand new Car, and many more. while the non-material things are, to be able to eat in a new restaurants.
those above are my obsessions that i want to meet, reach and have. that is why, i am really working hard to have it one by one. praying also that God will really grant me that request.
and also the reason why i am really looking for more ways to earn more. looking for a part time job that can add up to my income.

Good day airasheila, those new techie gadgets are really tempting and I too wish to have extra money to buy it, but if I have extra money I would buy a knitting machine so I can produce more knitting items then sell it. Then I will open a small boutique where i can sell my creations and I can buy those techie gadgets by my income. I just started learn how to cook, one day if i have mastering the art of cooking I will open a restaurant and I will invite you to eat in my restaurant so both of us can make our dream come true. what do you think about this idea?
To have an obsession or a goal to reach is good for us, because it can encourage us to work harder to reach our goal and to make our obsession come true. I pray for you my friend, pray that God will grant your request.
I dont have a part time job, but I have plan to sell my craft to get extra income. Dont worry Airasheila, where there is a will there will be a way. so let's dream, believe and make it happen :)

My obsession?? hmm can i name some food?? Well I have been pretty obsessed with icecrems these days.. And i crave for more urghh I don't know how to stop it!!
besides that, my ultimate obsessions: dance and music. I haven't stopped them and would never like to stop them. I dance atleast 1 hour a day with my favourite music. It makes me feel so alive and stress free i love it!

Hey yes long time :) Erm i was busy with schools and extra classes and stuffs. I had a break for about two weeks so Im back here again :)
Anyway how's life with you? How's everything?
Wow ballet sounds real classy but a lot of hard work I guess. I am kinda into hiphop or actually anything that is on tv :) I have been meaning to learn jazz but I am not too sure lets see what happens.

The weather is hot here and I think icecream is nice to eat in this weather but my fever is up again since last night and Im afraid I might catching flu if i eat too much ice cream. so what make you obsessed with icecreams? is it because of the weather or its because there is a new icecream store you found?
Cool...I dont know how to dance but Im sure it is nice and relaxing and Im happy you really enjoy it as a way to release stress. what kind of dance you are practicing? When I was a little child I wanted to do ballet dance but cannot afford it, It was my dream to be a ballerina.

sometimes im obsessed in material things and sometimes non material things. and as of now i'm so eager to change my phone to samsung galaxy y and i just couldn't wait for the day that my hubby will renew our contract we're using postpaid plan for our mobile...

Android is a nice phone and Samsung has produce a simple but elegant android phone which is the galaxy series, so I can feel your joy to get your newbrand cellphone. my cellphone is simple qwerty phone but I think I might replace it with touchscreen phone and samsung galaxy y is a good choice.

I have an old nokia phone, i can open mylot from my mobile browser but sometime whenever I typed and tried to post a response there is a notification that i cannot post due to copy paste unless I passed 500 posts (sorry i dont remember the exact words but it is something like this), so I think i will wait until I reach 500 posts so I can mylotting from my mobile browser.

I often get different obsessions. Currently I am very interested in knitting mittens and in saving up to buy a house. These seem like they are going to last for awhile.

Hello cutepenguin, that is a good idea to saving up to buy a house. It is nice to have our own house we can decorate as the way we like, we can renovate it whenever we want and the most important is we dont have to worry about the rent bill. I dont have plan to saving up to buy a house but I know someday i must save to buy my dream house, i want a small house with garden surrounding it where I can spend my weekend by gardening.
Knitting mittens? wow that is a nice idea, I just started learning the basic of knit I have circular needle, but I still dont know how to make mittens, I just start to make a simple scarf using single pointed needle. I guess I need to browse the mitten pattern on internet and watch video tutorial.

Hello chiyosan thank you for the respond, sometime I think it is nice to be a person who doesnt easily obsess much on something just like you because you know it is really annoying my mind when I have obsession on something and it is really bugging my mind unless I do something to make the obsession comes true. but sometime this obsession or goal is really help me to work harder and to reach the goal. However I agree with you to be a person who doesnt obsess too much, because too much is never good for us.

Hello doccerz, i too love travelling but the problem is I have limited budget and I dont have partner to travel with. So I want to start a small business (a small boutique selling my craft and creation) to get a better income then I can travel wherever I want. Time is always be a problem when we have so many activities but be sure that you have enough time to get rest. yes doccerz, all these dream and obsession make me a happier person. to be honestly I just got back to normal life, for a month I was sick because of problem I have. so now it is time to get busy with myself and it is change my life. I feel that my life is so much better and Im happy doing it.
