I am a Roman Catholic. I pray but not like the others who pray the rosary, novenas etc. There was a time when I was very low, I asked for His guidance, then my prayers were answered. However, there are also times like there was no One. Are the things happening to me just coincidence? Or is it done by Him? What is your view on this?

Yes, I believe in the power of prayer.
For one thing, many are going by the teachings of
their religion, many of which are not according to
the Bible. Nowhere in the Bible does it teach that
you use a rosary, or anything else to get prayers
heard or answered.
It is Jesus and not the various churches or religions
that we will stand before when we die. He taught us
how to pray and scripture says to ask the Father in
Jesus name - simple enough.
The New Testament is full of teaching on so may things,
including prayer, and yet many of the religions of the
world teach their followers to "by-pass" the Bible, and
follow their teachings which are not even scriptural.
There is "no" true and or perfect church. The true church
according to scripture, is made up of what is known as: "born
again" believers - who have accepted Jesus as their Saviour,
and try to follow His teachings as best they can.
So continue to believe in the power of prayer, but get a New
Testament in an understandable version (like maybe the 'Living
New Testament,') and start reading the gospel of John for a start.
Blessings to you

I am a muslim and I believe that if God thinks that what you ask for will not do any you good, He will not grant it or it will be granted in another time.
I have been taught to ask from Him this way, Dear God if You think it is good for me, grant me my wish, if You think it will not do me any good, I will accept Your decision.
My religious teacher says that we do not necessarily know what is good for us so say your wish in your heart and try to be patient ( I know I am not patient!).
BTW I believe all things happen with a reason (by the will of God) so rejoice and be empowered!

oops my mistake, please replace
"if God thinks that what you ask for will not do any you good" with
"because God knows that what you ask for will not do any you good"

To be honest, I don't believe in the power of prayers. But when I come about difficulties, I always pray to the god to help out of the trouble. Maybe there is no coincidence among the things happen around us, but we always regard the thing like this. Maybe praying the god is just a kind of self-hint.

Hi ehlsie, some people sometime had a same feeling as you . But you know, actually God knows the best time to answer prayers.Though a boy ask for bicycle, his father may not obtain one for him until the child is old enough to ride it safely. The same may be true with some prayers of does who love God.Knowing what is best for them,he grant what is needed at the most favorable time. Yet, God servants do not get anything they may pray for. Being imperfect, they may desire some things that would not be good for them . Their loving heavenly Father would not give anything harmful, for he is the giver of ' EVERY GOOD GIFT and EVERY PERFECT PRESENT' its based on ( James 1:17 ) Similarly, God may not grant something that is not necessary from his standpoint. He answers prayers in harmony with his will and purpose for his people. (1 John 5:14,15 ) From your own Bible , you can find out scripture that I've attach and be happy , God always want us to be happy .

Well, there are many times I have prayed and seen things happen. Maybe not the way I always would like them too, but I know it was God. Then there are times when I have to wait for an answer, and sometimes it feels like forever, but I do know that God is in control, and all we have to do is Pray, and sometimes keep Praying and believe we will know when it is our time. God is always in Control.

God always answers the genuine prayers of his devotee when he finds that he needs his help. However not all prayers are answered and that is because many times one asks for something that one really does not need or something that one does not deserve. If you want something then you should put an effort to get it and then let God do the rest.If your efforts are true and genuine then the results will always be positive.God always comes halfway. He does not want you to just sit back and just keep on asking him for everthing.God is love and if you make a little effort he will respond positively. He will never leave you stranded and will always be with you when you need him.

I believe in the power of prayers. It's not all the time God will answers all your prayers. He gives you only what is worth for you and what has been planned for you. He doesn't give much nor less. If that is what is really worth for us, then that's just what he will give us. We don't pray the rosary everyday before as well, we only do during the Rosary month, but now, my parents are in the couples for Christ and they wanted us to be closer to God as well that is why we pray the rosary now every day. And ever since, we always me and my whole family would go to church every Sunday to hear mass.

It is just a coincidence.
You know, ‘he’ answers not all prayers and if God answered all the prayers perfectly, some people would not think of blaming him. The cause of our action is only within ‘us’. ‘Only us’. Nothing more and nothing less and then, we just need his ‘guidance’ that is why we pray to him. He will just guide us, motivate us spiritually to get our things done in the perfect time.
For me, it is wrong to ‘ask’ and ‘depend’ too much on God, because if we ‘ask’ something in ‘return’ and hope to answer all our prayers and suddenly, our prayers were not answered by him, we blame him.
It is not by him. It is by ‘us’ who do the action, he is just only our ‘guide’ towards spirituality.

I think there is always a reason for everything, we may not always get what we want but we will always have what we need.God does work in mysterious ways. He knows what is best for us too.

I was brought up as a Roman Catholic. My sister and I have names that reflect the Catholic influence. I do not go to church or "pray" the way that was dictated to us. I have an ongoing conversation with him. All I have to do is take a look at what has happened in my life so far no one could convince me it wasn't by the hand of God. Hence, nothing happens by accident!

Yes, I do believe. It is actually very effective. Like you, I'm not a person
who usually engages in rosary and novenas, but I do pray every night at bedtime.
Every time I pray, I feel His presence, whether He grants my wishes or not,
I still feel He's there, and he always has good reasons. Not just for wishes,
i pray mostly for the safety and protection of loved ones. I also pray whenever
I'm in a difficult situation. Most importantly, I pray for gratitude and for
everything I have.

I think that things happen for a reason, perhaps God tests us to see if we will pray and ask him for guidance and help with our problems. Sometimes, we don't believe our prayers are answered but that could only be because God helps those who help themselves in other words we have the answer we just need to see it. In my darkest times in my life I believe he was there for me sometimes he just let me figure things out for myself and when I did , I thanked him for helping me see the answer to my problems. God Bless you!

yes I believe in the power of prayer and it is said to ask in HIS name and it shall be done with faith and believeing. Also it is said that in all things first WORD and DEED be done in HIS NAME. It is spoken in the Word that you call unto Him and He shall show you great and mighty things. Jeremiah 33:3. If you believe and think and keep your mind upon Jesus . Great things can happen and will happen. Faith , believeing and acting upon it. Happening to you if from God ask him in the name of Jesus what HE wants you to do and where He wants you. He will show you He will answer in ways man cannot. Just choose to know and His guidance will show through. what man cannot do GOD can..in other words what man does will not last but what God does will. What man puts together cannot last but what God puts together does. Do not be confused by what others believe but what God wants for you..

Being a member of any religious organization doesn't matter, for me. As long as we have a strong relationship with the Lord our God. I am currently living away from my family. I have to work yet and alone most of the time. The only time that makes me feel so bless and relax is every time I am talking with Him. I cried before I sleep at night not because I am lonely and sad but I am praying and talking with Him. For me, that is the most powerful thing that matters and everything will follow. I love Him for giving me every thing I needed and continue blessing me and my family.
