Several years ago, I got some free bulbs with a catalog purchase. It included the usual mix - daffodils, hyacinth, tulips and some iris.
The daffodils and hyscinth grew well and have bloomed every year since. The tulips grew and bloomed once and then the bulbs disappeared - probably eaten by some pest.
The iris kept putting up leaves every year; but, none of they never bloomed so I kind of forgot about them. This year for the very first time they put up a stalk and I assumed it would be the normal purple/blue colored iris. Imagine my surprisze when the bud and then the bloom were a bright, sunny yellow.

How pretty! I had a bed of blazing orange Iris at our old house. They were pretty, miss them now! One day I'm going to get out and get back into gardening :)

Orange! I didn't know they came in any color other than the purple ones. How many other colors do they come in? Any idea why it stook mine so many years to finally bloom?

I know there are blues, salmon and white ones. I had some of the native blue and white ones at our old house. They were very pretty. In fact, that is what brought me to buy the orange ones!
No clue why yours didn't bloom. I planted the bulbs for my new ones and they bloomed the following year. I guess I got lucky!!
