Congratulations on deciding to learn English language. I suggest you gather as much as English vocabulary first because grammar will naturally comes with it. When you have vast amount of vocabulary, only then you would be able to play with it in reference with the right usage of grammar.
Also, if I may advice, read as much English books and watch English movies as you cn because it can really help a lot. I am sure that you will be able to be good at it in no time, if you just focus and strive hard to learn.
I live in a country where English is highly regarded as our first language. With that, I was taught how to speak and write in English since I was a kid. And knowing this language made a lot of things easier for me such as applying for a job, speaking to other people, making friends with other English-speaking nationalities, and a lot more. Good luck on your learning.

I agree with Ladyhemingway that you must try to watch English Movies/English Soaps(TV soaps)/Start reading English novels. Also start thinking in English/talk to yourself/to your pets/close buddies/siblings in English only. Try to learn a phrase and couple of new vocabularies every day by watching Hollywood movies and by reading books. And as i mentioned earlier, get your basic grammar polished. Eventually, your English will improve.

It depends on which skills are you mostly exposed to in your activity. If you speak English at your daily activities, I am afraid you have to master speaking first. But if you do a lot of writing, you should start learning grammar to start with. I may suggest you take a natural approach in learning any foreign language. Natural approach is like when you studied your first language. You didn't learn how to write but you learned how to speak, right?

@Tamosree1993, I don't see how people can learn English on mylot. Is there a link here on mylot for learning English or something? I know you get to read discussions and you get to respond to them in English on mylot. You also deliver your thoughts in English on mylot, which would improve your thought process. But English? Go watch English movies, read English novels, listen to English songs. Besides, get a basic grammar hand book and read it often, unless you think you know how to respond to any other discussion more effectively and sensibly.

I'm a Filipino, English is not our own language too I just learned my English in my basic studies. Actually I just learned so much about it through practice specially when I started doing mylots 6 years ago, same like you most of the grammar are incorrect but I review it first before submitting it to post. I also use some dictionaries and read a lot of English books, I'm very much fun or reading a novel that's why I learned so much from it. It takes time to learned but practice makes it perfect.

If you are just beginning in learning a language, I think that you must not pay much attention to grammar as it might stop you in practicing your English. Just try to learn many English vocabularies as possible. Then, try to talk with a person who can speak English fluently. That will hone your skills in speaking. Then, I believe that while you are practicing it, you will also know the right way how to say sentences and by that time, you will know that you are already learning grammar.

Hi, Vovandat, you've made a very good decision. Indeed MyLot is a wonderful place to practice but I'd suggest you to learn also grammar. The best thing is to take an English course. I stumbled upon this link, maybe it could be useful for you:
http://www.ehow.com/how_2111477_free-english-course.html
And it's important to speak. I didn't have the chance to do it when I was learning English. Now I can read and write but I cannot speak easily.
Good luck!

Grammar is useless if you don't have any vocabulary at all.
So learn each day some new words and repeat the old ones.
Learn sentences/sayings/expressions so you say them in the right way.
Listen to songs and write down what you hear and check it.
Take the time to listen to short movies (you tube or whatever is in your interest) even if you don't understand every worth guess what they talk about.
Practise daily in: writing, reading, translating, pronouncing (you can find that on the internet as well). Only this way you will learn a language well.
Also don't feel disappointed if there are days you have hardly time, if you think you hardly improve, remember you did not learn your own language in just 1-2 years and also you have to learn the (emotional) feelings behind a word as well.
Grammar you should learn too, but you can start with that later.

For me, it depends on what you want to learn first. Learning to speak and learning to write english are two difficult things. hehehe

Well, i actually hate to learn English when i was in primary school since i am not good, in fact i am bad in spelling test. But eventually i just automatically good at it since my English test often get a good result. But still, i am bad in writing and speaking in English. The only thing i am good at is listening what others said in english.
