Yeah, I did make the $17.00 while i was at home and was not even online. Ask me how... I sold my old newspapers and the empty whiskey and beer bottles. They have been accumulated for a while and my rented room was looking all messy. I sold them off. What do you do with your old newspapers and the empty bottles, by the way?

How did you sell them? Did someone come to your home? Someone you deal with on a regular basis? It's a good way to clean a rented room!

Hiya rekh., Not bad at all eh? Making 17 dollars nothing to sniff at they always come in handy those small amounts too. Did you spend it on yourself or on everyone else too say like a small treat or something like that? They don´t have anything like that here but I wish to heck they did. Not even bothered to collect Bottles either but I put them all in the Recycle Bin we have here and the newspapers and cardboard and paper. I don´t get paid but the satisfaction of putting them in the right places is enough for me.

Yeah, I had a tiny little party with couple of my friends. Lol. but it was fun though, you know. I am glad you too are doing a good job by putting them in the right places, although its bad that you do not get paid for it.

Well if I was in your place I would try to find a way to make money out of them. I would try to find out what those bin collectors do away with your thrash. Especially newspapers/plastics/and stuffs..It's global..they need to be recycled.

Hiya rekh., A small Party well that is something is´nt it and you had some good fun too. Yes I do put them in the right places where they have the right Bins as you have to have the right Bins to be able to place all the stuff in. I feel like I am doing something even if I don´t get paid that is okay. Most People here do not bother at all. They just throw everything into the Bins and away without thinking at all. I shall have to find another way of making cash but that is very very difficult here indeed especially at the moment.xxx

Awesome, not only did you earn a little extra income you also got to help the environment by recycling. We have a recycling trash bin in our place we just dump everything into and people come past and take what they want%c/bottle adds up).

Why is this new to you. Its obvious the old newspapers and bottles are recycled. What did you do with them earlier. But its really not that much. You have to accumulate lots of old newspapers to get something decent out of them.

The news my friend is, I accumulated them over 5 to 6 months, managing space for them, not wasting any paper after i read, not throwing away bottles away no matter where i was or went. This discussion is not really about what i earned with the old stuff, but we really need to focus on the recycling stuffs.

My daughter do the same thing once in a while. But sometimes we just separate it from the trash so that the clean up boys can have it for their own, so they can sell the same and have a small amount for their use. Basically junk shop business is the most bankable now in our place.

I did read about a junk dealer woman in the newspaper about a year ago, who made very well in the business (although, I am not sure if she became a millionaire).

Just like you, I sell my old newspapers, empty bottles and other junks to a junk shop. It's a good way to de-clutter your house and at the same time turn them into cash.

I make about 5-10 dollars out of my trash depending on quantity. It's a good practice to recycle and at the same time turn them into money. It's not because of the money that I get from this, but more of the thought that I in my own little way I am helping in saving the world.

my family always saved cans and sold them pop cans and tey would get alot for them. so about a month ago i tryed to save can as we go thur alot and i did for like a week and i found it it was not for us because we do not have the room.. i have no gargage or shed we have a small space for our mower , so i cant use that. and i set the cans outside of the house on the drive way against th house and it made it loook so junky hubby ask me to stop and i did.. an ddont intend to do it again he was afraid it would cause ants as well.. as for news papers we dont have any , w never buy the paper.. but im glad it worked for you,,, enjoy your money

Too bad you stopped saving them due to space issue. As for me, since i live alone i don't care where i keep my bottles they are everywhere in the kitchen and in the bedroom. Only the newspapers are stacked in the corner. So once i sell them off my house becomes little cleaner, spacious and clutter free. Besides, if i have to save cans, I'd crush them and collect them in cartons. I mean you find lots of cartons that you save them for using while moving houses.

Hi, Rekhum, this reminds me about a very happy period in my life. We were young, me and my husbands, we had a lot of guests every day and everybody was drinking. We used to collect piles of empty bottles and when we were short of money we were selling them. Now there is no time to drink so much, most people have a lot of responsibilities. And the prices of the bottles are not so advantageous :))

I also happen to accumulate the bottles as I am single and friends come over to my place for drinking during weekends. So its an added advantage for me.

Dear rekhum You did not specify how you sold your old mews paper. Is it off Or online? My recent sales of old newspaper was sold to a lorry buyer at 25 Malaysian cents.per kilo. It's just pocket money. May I know what is the rate you are selling? Thanks. Love. Bro. Joe. GBU.

I know of a dealer who comes to my place once in 3 to 4 months to collect the junks. So i don't have to go online to sell them off. For old newspapers, its 10 rupees(Indian rupee)per kilo here. So if i sell about 5 kilos i get around $1.00 (American dollar).
24 Apr 12
Dear Rekhum Thanks for replying to my comment. I was told that you could follow the people who paste bills on walls and when they go away, it will be stripped off and resold. This food for your thought. But it is legal? Once the bill is posted on walls and everywhere, it become public property! Am I right on this score? Thanks. Love: Bro. Joe. GBU

We put ours out in the front of the house on the days they come to pick them all up, but we don't get paid for it all, unfortunately. All the houses here do that, it is set up that way in the neighborhoods. I wish we could get paid for all of it, but we don't have someone will pay for it.

i generally give it away to my maid for her benefit and she feels happy about it....if i would not give it her then probably i would find a shop to sell it off and earn some quick buck... $17 is a good amount. i think you saved them for a while...:)

I didn't know you could earn money for selling old newspapers! I know you can obviously get recycle money for your bottles and cans. I always do this because it is like getting a reimbursment for the money you already spent on the drink.

I think that things like this are excellent ways to make money because it means that you are doing good by the planet at the same time which always has to be a good thing. We have a system like that in my country as well, and I often go outside and ask my neighbours if they have anything that they would like to be recycled. Because they give it to me, it means that they don't have to go to the effort of getting rid of the rubbish, and it means that I get a little bit of money for it at the same time which is great as it doesn't take me much effort to take the rubbish to the recycling plant.

Things like this should not be an excellent ways to make money. But its just a part of us who cares about the planet. I mean forget about the $17.00, but I'll still be responsible of my own mess and residues.

Wow! that's great! I bet you have dozens or thousands of newspapers and bottles stuck in there so you have gained much amount huh? Good for you. Well, i do that also. I separate those cans, plastic bottles, newspapers and other papers or things that can be recycled and sell it to those who just pass by our street to collect those...it's good to segregate them and separate in garbage for it can help our mother earth as well..

Yea and the guy who runs this business of dropping off newspapers comes once in about 3 months to collect his subscription bills. And by that time I'd sold off enough to pay off for a month's bill. Its wiser. I mean you read them and sell them off.

newspaper files - sure it's good to sell those newspaper filed up
Oh, that explains it! having subscribed to newspapers mean you always have it everyday, isn't it? so you really have dozens to collect and sell as well. It's good that you can sell those pieces to junks and helped you in paying subscriptions as well..

Hey a little extra money is a good thing. Most folks don't pay attention to the fact that you can be paid for plastic, glass or aluminum containers. I wish I knew where I could turn my stuff in. I'd like a little extra cash too lmao

By selling used papers including newspapers and empty bottles I get some amount monthly. There are persons engaged in buying these items and they come home and collect it. So a part of cleaning is done by them and I get not a negligible amount.

My advice to you..Stack up your old newspapers in one of the corner of the room kitchen or garage..let it pile up 4 to 5 feet high. Weigh them out out yourself and call the dealers, they will be more than happy to clean out your old papers.
