Is my diabetes gone?

Well for last 6 weeks I have made it a routine to measure sugar level in my blood, both fasting and 2 hours after food, it was around 95 and 120 all the times; my doctor advised to stop the insulin first, advised a tablet; next advised to stop that too.
For last 14 days WITHOUT any medicine it remains same, this means I am free from diabetes? The burning sensation and pain; in soles of feet is less, I have been advised to take Zen Retard tablets for this; I hope it will have its effect soon.
I don’t know which medicine or therapy had its effect, I was taking homoeopathic medicines, herbal medicines, was sleeping and am sleeping on the Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Therapy Bed that I had designed during 1980-1984.
Well I am thinking of resuming morning walk using the walking stick.
I am eating my usual food, bread, vegetables, salads, curd, milk etc, but 2 days in a week I am taking 2 cups of white rice with dal.
My friends who have or had diabetes can say; is it possible to get rid of this slow killer?
Can anybody guess what made the sugar level normal?
Is this some kind of miracle?
Please share your views and comment on this.
Thanks in advance.

That is great news, Professor2010! I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my second one. Oh, I remember the strict diet and exercising - and poking my finger to measure the sugar levels 4 times a day. I luckily never had to take any insulin as I was able to maintain decent levels - with the right food combinations and exercise. So for the rest of my life, I am considered to be pre-diabetic . . . and will always need to be careful (but admittedly I have not been so disciplined lately).
I think you have somehow found your key to maintaining such good sugar levels (everyone is different) - most likely it is not one particular thing that you are doing - quite possibly it is a combination - take no chances and keeping doing exactly what you are already doing!! I know it takes a lot of work to keep those sugar levels balanced. And what a reward to be able to eat 2 cups of rice . . . I remember I was only allowed 1/3 cup per meal (I thought that was crazy, I told them I was Asian and I need my rice - ha ha).
In any case, congratulations and keep up the good work!!

That is quite amazing, Professor2010! I remember also during my time with gestational diabetes that I was not allowed to have fruit with my dinner (nor after, if I'm not mistaken). Mango apparently has a lot of natural sugar - and you had rice - yet your blood sugar was great. And no medicine for 74 days? That is truly amazing . . . how wonderful you must feel!! Keep it up . . . oh, I need to start taking better care of my own health!!

Yes. While we can take that it is due to God's wish we must be careful in our diet and also monitoring, which I am sure Professor Sir will do carefully.

Personally I am sure you have learned by now, that Diabetes can be an interesting Disease and there might be times your Sugar levels can play tricks on you, and leave everyone hanging on what is Best to do. It is good if you have been able to keep your Sugar levels at bay and can cut down the amount of medication you need to take. I know when people loose weight it can happen as well as learning what foods affect them the most that they might need to cut out or down on.

Hello brother,
As I understand, diabetes is controlled not cured. Depending on the type of diabetes there are things that keep it under control, like diet and exercise and if not maintained, diabetes returns. It is exciting to see a person who has been affected by it become healthy again and maintain good health. The primary thing for almost all diabetics to avoid is sugar or foods that produce high sugar levels in the blood. Congratulations for getting it under control and being able to eliminate the need for insulin. I feel it is not a miracle, but a concerted effort on your part to regiment your life with a diet that keeps your glucose under control along with exercise. However, it is a permanent change in the way you eat and exercise. Doctors and medicine can only do so much, the rest is up to you and your ability to follow and understand their instructions in order to control the disease.

Hi Professor! First, I want to commend you for your healthy living. You must be doing something right for your doctor to gradually take you off medication. Type II diabetes is driven by insulin resistance which is a kind of syndrome driven by weight gain and an unhealthy lifestyle. You must be doing everything right fir the neurapathy to be less, and for the to start using your glucose properly. The insulin you produce is a hormone that acts like a little taxi that transports the glucose across the cell membrane. With insulin resistance this process doesn't work effectively.
So to sum it all up, congratulations! You are free at this point, it looks like, but know it can come back if you gain weight or het less exercise. I'm proud of you.

You had Type 2 Diabetes, right? I say this because you cannot do this for Type 1 Diabetes since it is genetic.
My brother had Type 1 Diabetes, and there is no cure for Type 1. If you have Type 2, then yes, you can get rid of it if you work hard enough to do so, but if you have Type 1, then you have it for life.

I think it is great that you no longer need meds. I hope it stays that way. I am sure a lot of it is how you have changed your lifestyle, and maybe some of the things you have done. Congrats!

I would be interested in knowing which herbal medicines you have been using, because this is very good. It is, however like my brother has experienced and my father as well. Perhaps you have hit on a great routine that is good for your health.

I'm diabetic too for 15 years as for now I'm not on insulin only tablets.
I don't think you can get rid of it but you can maintain the normal level of your blood.
In my opinion you can stabilize the situation by diet,sport-like walking,to drink water only.
I wish you to be in good health.

I am glad to hear you are having a good time. If you are over the affliction I would patent whatever it was you did. Abraham Lincoln only had one but you could start a series. Call Fred Estaire and do the dance. I would celebrate for sure. It sure doesn't happen every day.

Even if you get rid of it somehow, if it's there it is really there, Especially if your diabetes is hereditary in nature we can't do anything on that, all we can do is prevention. We can either have the prescribed diet or take those insulin shots but take note those things will just lessen it but not totally get rid of it, so never be complacent, still be very vigilant and continue what you are currently doing now to put those blood sugars to normal range. We can't get rid of it but we can prevent it from occurring just what you are currently doing now. That is one way of preventing, keep doing it and you will never have any problem about diabetes for the rest of your life.

Congratulation on your improved health. Maintain a good diet, stay away from sweetened food and try to spend time on exercise. I think you will get back your full health in a short period of time.

Professor Sir:
Nice to hear that considerable improvement is there in your sugar level. I will say it was possible due to your positive thinking and desire to see that it comes down. However you should keep a track regularly and you must continue to maintain your diet under control as you are doing now.
Go for morning walks--but keep a bottle of water with you to drink in case you feel thirsty.
best wishes[em]

I don't think it's possible to get rid of it fully. I think if you maintain or loose weight, keep a diabetic diet, and exercise you may be able to maintain not having to take insulin injections or at worst take a pill. I fear about taking injections, but with diabetes being in our family tree it will happen eventually.

Yes professor, since my mother was diagnosed with diabetes type two 20 years ago I've been researching diabetes off and on. It seems diet and exercise has a lot to do with controlling it but it's not known what other factors could affect it. Something happened in your routine that changed not only your chemistry but your pancreas as well as possibly your liver! Yeah! I'm sure your doctor told you to still check it every six months however!
Congratulations on getting it under control professor! I know that high blood pressure and high cholesterol can also be controlled by diet, exercise, and an unknown factor.
I'm always telling people, "never think of it as a diet and exercise. Think of as a way of life!"
