have you like been klutzy that you have put something with some ants on it?
Just did now well i have a mug in my office, and this morning i was eating chocolates ( Thesids - ) and well, i drank some water..so i guess the sweetness transferred to the coffee mug...
and then i was busy typing some reports, when i without looking took the mug and drank my water...when it taste differently. and i saw some ants on it. I know this is gross but honestly this is the first. I was tooo consumed on finishing reports as we might have power failures again.. that i didn't look at the mug.
I was gross it as it tasted quite weird.

Where they good ? I know an online shop where you can buy candies or chocolates with ants, but I would recommend you the lollipops with a true eatable scorpio inside : http://www.laboutiqueinsolite.com/insectes-comestibles-sucres/28-sucette-au-scorpion.html
You have the choice of the taste for the lollipop : banana, blueberry, apple or strawberry.

welcome to the club. yes, i tasted ants too. at that time, they were so small to be noticed. i noticed that i was eating my food with some ants when they started to crawl on my hand and arm. and the immediate reaction was to vomit all the food. it tasted strangely. it was good that there was a cola that buried all the taste on my mouth and tongue.

You are not alone my friend. I too have tasted it before when I wasn't looking at what I was eating. I was too hungry then and I never realized the ants have already eaten first before I did. I never really tasted the ants , because I was really into my food. Can't blame me for being too hungry that time . But after realizing there were ants on my muffin, I stopped eating it and drank water fast. Too bad I had to look for another food then..

I have tasted ants for so many times. One of those times was when I was in first year high school. After class dismissal, my friends and I decided to walk from school to our home. It took more than one hour. When I reached home, I felt I was dying, and I needed to drink five liters of water to quench my thirst and to stay alive. I immediately got one glass from the rack, and put water on it. I never bothered to turn on the light for I was really so thirsty. I drunk one full glass of water, and when I emptied the glass, I noticed that there were some ants crawling on my mouth, chin, and face. When I turned on the light, I saw that the glass is full of ants. I think I already drunk half of them. I never tasted any of them unlike you.

I have tasted ants for so many times. One of them was when I was eating sugar apple. I noticed that its taste changed. I was also eating black ants. They taste like a combination of orange and black pepper.
I am not sure if they contain protein. What I know based on their taste is they are rich in Vitamin C.

I also did that ones because of my clumsiness. I was so focus on my homework, I drank the ants from my orange juice. Actually, it just tasted the same. I couldn't distinguish the taste of the ants from the juice. I just knew that there were ants when the glass was half-full.

I have heard, but have not tried it, that chocolate covered ants are quite good. What is gross to me is when I take a drink and a fly has landed in it. It may be my missed perception, but I think of ants as being much cleaner and less germy than flies. Good luck on getting all your reports done.

i do agree with you though, flies are a lot more gross as they do land EVERYWHERE and on EVERYTHING - i have to stop myself from thinking too much on where they land..
as for ants yes i do seem to think they are cleaner as they usually just go to foods..

It happened to me one time I did not notice the very tiny ants in my sugar that I put on my coffee without a creamer and of course because it is black I did not notice the ants. And when I tasted yukkk! horrible. You know this kinds of ants we have here that has a horrible smell and taste that is too restless. That's why every time I used sugar I always look at it hehehe

Oh gross reading that gave me the chills. How gross that you wound up drinking them lol. It obviously isnt going to kill you but its just the thought of eating ants that is gross. I know some places eat ants and consider them a delicacy but I wouldnt ever want to try them. When I was young my mother left a bottle of soda on the counter and ants got into it I didnt know it and I drank it. I didnt notice a differnce so maybe they settled to the bottom and I didnt drink them I dont know.

I did taste cooked ants once. I was at a camp when I was a student and we got tea for breakfast. The tea was in big pots and we poured for ourselves from it. I saw there were small black things on the bottom of the cup when I finished it, and thought it was just tea leaves. But after consulting with others we found out that they were ants, a lot of them! We never drank tea again there. I wonder if they let the tea sit for days and just warmed it up for breakfast

Apparently I used to eat ants when I was like, three or four years old. I have no idea why, but that's what my older sister tells me since I stuck to her like glue at that age.
Also one time I went to get a late-night snack of chocolate cake and I didn't bother to turn on the kitchen light since the hallway light gave me enough to see. I snagged a piece, plated it and all, only to see weird little squirming masses moving around on the white of the plate. Turned on the light, saw ants, nearly cried at the loss of almost an entire cake ... it was a delicious one, too ...

The reason ants taste sour and citrus-y is that they are quite literally acidic. They produce formic acid to defend themselves--the same thing in bee stings. I've never actually tasted one, but I'm especially sensitive to the smell. I can tell if anyone in the room with me has squished an ant, and when our house was infested I would sometimes have to go outside to get away from the odor. Which is odd because I usually love acidic food. =)

Sounds to me like you have a serious ant problem. When they're invading your coffee, that's too much. Ours scurry away when they see people. Yours are so tame, they're domesticated and driniing coffee with you.

You don't need to worry as they say "ants" will make your voice sounds better :p (that I do not know-hehehe)
Have you tried singing to see any result after tasting those ants?
If not- try it now dear- you might thanks those ants for jumping inside your mug.
Anyway, don't be too selfish, the weather is too hot so they want to have some fun and find your mug the best place to swim/dive in
Honestly- I tasted the black one and it tastes like spicy-chilly-whatever

black ants do have that kind of taste spicy something but then again they are the ones i often see on my sugar..weird.
and well, as for my voice, no matter how much quantity of ants i would eat, it doesn't make a difference, i still can't carry a tune

hi jazel
A few quick lessons for me first -
1. The coffee mug should not be used for drinking anything else than coffee...
2. The Coffee must always be drunk without looking inside the mug - if you do look and find ants, you would never drink the coffee and it will go waste... What a big waste of that delicious coffee
3. Ants are everywhere the same - all across the globe... morons who never see where they get into - chocos, coffee should be only for us humans...
Okay, as for the tastes - Well there have been many times when I have had my diet of ants - they seem to exist everywhere and many a times I do lack my patience removing them. Like two days before when I returned home after visiting the bankc only to find my to be lunch - that Top Ramen Noodles pack - was devoured by these red ones... and I had no patience to clean the pack as there were too many. In a haste I did get rid of a bunch of them but I am sure a few still remained - and I feasted on them, but that didnt make any difference in the tastes... it was still the same Top Ramen Noodles with the same flavors.

silly sids,
Here in the office we bring our own mugs / glasses for our own usage, you see, instead of bringing both mug for coffee and glass for water.. i just have with me a mug - for coffee and water to save space here too
i believe you would not taste any difference as you said you are living with ANTS! you are used to them..what difference would you know?
