The Real Life Barbie Doll

I came across a link about Valeria Lukyanova last night. Prior to that, I have never heard of her before. According to the website, she is a 21-year-old Russian girl who is the closest to a Barbie doll. In fact, she has been dubbed the real life Barbie. Now, we all know how disproportionate a Barbie doll is, thus how is it possible for one to actually have the closest physical traits of the doll? I looked at the photos and I felt very sad for her, because it looked as if she had gone through a lot of surgeries to look like she does now.
According to her, it was her 'natural beauty' and she didn't go through any surgery. I did some research and I found some Youtube videos of her, as I was not sure if the photos were Photoshopped or real. Anyhow, I find plastic surgery, a waste of money and most of the people who undergone plastic surgeries look a lot better before the surgeries. I would not go under the knife unless it is for medical reasons.

I saw this in the news but didn't read the story. I just looked at the photographs you posted and I have to agree with you that she has had plastic surgery on her face. The first picture of her with the hand up shows some aging. Her face does not, in fact, it looks like the face of a teenager. Anyone who has taken that much care of their face would also have nice and soft skin on hands. Just my opinion..

It is a big problem the way the media and huge companies showcase these skinny little ladies or very pretty ones. Everyone can't be spectacularly beautiful. To me beauty is in the heart and all about how you care for and treat others. We are all beautiful in God's eyes. Physical beauty is not something that needs improvement. We all have our advantages and disadvantages.
I think a lot of these women who do things like this have very little self image/respect for themselves. Maybe it is a mental problem or one they grew up with. It's very sad to me.

My late mother used to remind me to lather hand lotion every day and night, because it helps to slow down the process of ageing. That said, I did notice that her hand had shown some signs of ageing.
I cannot comprehend some women that would to such extent to look good. Why is looking beautiful so important to some of them, instead of being nice, friendly? In some ways, I do blame the media and brands for picking certain body type to promote their products, news, and etcetera. Then again, the women themselves should know better.

I share your sentiments. I always hold on to the saying, "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder". It is true and I have seen it many times that those who others perceive someone as beautiful or handsome, does not look that way to me, and vice versa. I'm not offended at all, if someone says I'm ugly or unattractive, because that is his/opinion.
However, I don't agree with media telling people how they should look. My niece was 5 years old when she went to my SIL and told her that she (my niece) looks fat. My SIL was shock and asked my niece why did she think so - long story short, it was all thanks to stupid shows like Hannah Montana, iCarly, and what-not.
I'm glad that she's 8 now and she's over it. She hardly watches those shows now and she focuses more on reading books, daily newspapers and certain types of cartoons.

Yes, that was the recent news, I think. Initially, she denied it. I find it distasteful that she lied about it in the beginning. It's clear to me, and I'm sure to many others that she had undergone surgery.
Yes, I know most men would tap that. I guess I am still conventional in many ways, in that I would like a man to like me for the person that I am, instead of how I look like, and I already have one that appreciates my personality, more than anything.

I also saw a recent article on this woman. I looked at a small series of photos that were included with the article and, to be honest, I don't think she at all resembles a Barbie doll. I mean, yes she's blond and has the disproportionate traits you mentioned, but to say she looks "exactly like Barbie," as some are saying, I disagree. I have to wonder why someone would aspire to that anyway - except for media attention, which she is clearly getting.
There have been a few cases of extreme plastic surgery in the news in recent times and, like you, I would never do it simply for vanity. If there are legitimate medical or health reasons (such as removing extra skin when someone has lost an extreme amount of weight), then I think it's beneficial.

I've heard those plastic surgery stories too... where people are completely addicted to it and they reach a point where their own surgeon says "no more" for their own health and well-being. Then, the person ends up frantically searching and then going to another country so that they can find someone -- anyone! -- who will still operate on them. It's awful. It's an illness.
After initially reading your discussion, I also read about Cindy Jackson who apparently holds the record for the most surgeries on one person. It said she has spent over $100,000 on 52 different procedures. Some smaller procedures and 14 actual surgeries. She's even had collagen injected into her hands! Yeesh. Quoting from the article I read, she actually said, "Nature messed with me, so I don't have any problem messing with nature."

I think she is well-known in her country because some of her Youtube videos have been around for quite some time. I only saw one of them that showed the way she does her make-up (which is the porcelain/Barbie type of make-up) and oh boy, I wouldn't want to spend more than ten minutes on doing my face. Such a long process and the amount of money used to by the make-up, I might as well use it to buy cheeseburger or nachos!
I read another article about her and if I'm not mistaken, a plastic surgeon said that it would be impossible to perform such surgeries on her because a surgeon should know whether or not the physical traits demanded by a patient is proportionate with the height, width, etcetera. In my opinion, these days, you can get away with things especially with a plastic surgeon. She may not have had some of her ribs removed, but she must have definitely used the "corset method" of obtaining tiny waist, which is unhealthy/simply wrong.
Some women, even men need to realise that being good looking isn't everything. It's the personality and how you treat others that do.

So this is the result of having grown up with barbie dolls? It's rather sad that girls want to look like a lifeless thing... and actually look like that. Yes she looks like kind of a barbie doll, but it is also because of the way she is posing, plus that make up would turn most girls into a Barbie. I hope she will get all the attention she wants... if nothing else

I saw her tumbler account yesterday. I also think the photos were photoshopped :D by the way, have you heard about dakota rose? i saw their picture in some pages in facebook and she also looks like barbie just like valeria lukyanova. she also has videos in facebook but there's no information about her like what's her age or where she's from.

The background of her photos, I'm sure they were photoshopped. As for her features, aside from very good make-up skills (which she shown on various Youtube videos - I didn't know you can have a temp sharp nose by using highlighter and eyeshadow!), I'm sure she touched it up digitally. I saw a full length video of her (in Russian, so no idea what she was saying) and she seemed awkward.
I haven't heard of Dakota Rose. I started this discussion because it's sad to see that some people are obsessed with looking good, gorgeous, etcetera. They look up to celebrities and almost everyone wants to look like someone else. I have nieces, a nephew, a stepdaughter, and a stepson, and all I can do is pray that they wouldn't end up doing stupid things like this, and to educate them to love themselves.

I remember reading an article about this a couple of months ago. I do find it rather odd. Why would you want to look like a barbie? She probably has self-image issues. It's sad, really. I agree with you, plastic surgery is really not needed, unless of course you really do need it.

You have a very good point. There are a lot of self-image issues these days. Always people wanting to look perfect. I also agree with you, these people looked better, before they "barbied" themselves. The barbie look is kinda creepy if you ask me. It is sad, I hope these people realize they don't need to look like a barbie to be attractive or be perfect.

I've seen these pictures from this girl before...
"Natural beauty"? Hell no, that isn't natural... that isn't even beauty. I feel bad for her too, she looks too sad in those pictures. I don't understand why some people does such things instead of accepting theirselves. I believe she was much prettier without all those surgeries, don't you?

She looks lifeless in some photos, but I think that was due to the thick make-up. I cannot comprehend why people go to such extent. I think only she knows why.. and even that, I don't think she can truly articulate it to make people understand her reasons.
Yes, she was a lot prettier. She looked fresh and young. She is young, for heaven's sake, she's only 21 (well, according to most articles) and she has a lot of growth left in her still.

She is probably very happy now, as she has the looks that she has always wanted and the attention (positive and negative) of people from all over the world. I hope she's nice, but then, with all the publicity, how can one take her seriously?

On the Internet there are other girls who are trying to look like a living Barbie doll.? whole generation of kids turn into Barbie doll. These girls are naturally beautiful, but make up to look like an artificial doll.I think you do not look like a Barbie doll,a woman can be beautiful.

she really looks fake.i bet that some plastic surgery is involved in her case.i think this is to artificial to be beautiful .a true beauty is natural and i read somewhere about a girl taht look very much like barbie-i don't know if it is the same girl and they were saying that men are scared about her look.
i think barbie should remain a doll and no girl should go under the knife to look like her.
