If I am traveling the next morning I usually don't sleep the night before.

I just couldn't sleep at night when I am traveling the next day. I am a last minute packer. I start thinking about what I should pack days before but the packing itself happens within 24 hours before the trip.
My energy is so up the night before because I am cramming. Many people around me discourage my way but I have been used to it that I couldn't change it. I am oftentimes almost missing my plane and even didn't make it one time. Good thing it wasn't a work related trip. But even when I travel with a group like with my company for example, everybody would be sleeping soundly yet I would be fully awake. If I am finished packing then I would either be reading or watching TV until it is time to leave. I am always have this pre-travel jitters if that's how it is called. The moment I sat on a plane or a train then I would be so asleep I couldn't even wake up to eat my food.

It is perhaps due largely to the kind of excitement that you accumulate while being on the prospective of journey the next morning. It is but naatural that you begin to brood over a lot about the travel plans...the places to visit...the persons to encounter...the food to relish...the experiences to gain - all these and many more thought come surging in to your mind which in turn robs a little piece of your nightly sleep.

If you can live with this habit, it doesn't disturb you much. I think it's ok. just let it be.
And it might be change if you don't take this into account.
anyway, basically, it's a very bad thing. I wonder do you still have energy for the trip of the next day?
So try to correct it

I don't have pre-travel jitters like you do. But sometimes my calendar is full that I have to attend a party the night before I travel so I don't get any sleep. My last trip involved an all niter bus travel and our seats were uncomfortable so my friends and I weren't able to sleep. We did get about an hour or so of sleep, but it wasn't like the foreign tourists who got better seats and were dozing halfway through our trip.

I would say that you are indeed energetic.Maybe most people would probably have a good sleep the night before start the trip. And also me too.I would have packed them together a day before i started to go.lol, but your way would keep you excited about the coming surprise.

Hello friend,
Yes you are right. I also face it in every time when I go to any travel. I am very excited in previous night.
Have a nice day.

if i'm travelling the next morning, always my parents compell me to sleep well in the night before. They want me to get everything ready on the previous day itself. But as far as me is concerned... its a very difficult task. I love getting hurried and tensed even at the last moment before i start my journey. This happens at my home not only when i start for a journey... but most often. They want me to do everything in an order and in a neat way.. But i always love disorderness. This doesen't mean that my house is a prison. I'm always enjoying these things...

I think that is probably something that happens to a lot of people. I know I get that way the day and night before leaving on vacation. It's the excitement of getting away for me and all of the unknown factors. It's pretty common from what I understand.

My wife's like that. She always only packs her stuff the night before her trip, even if it would entail several days worth of clothing. I can't understand it actually :) I mean, I think it just stresses a person out. I do my packing 2-3 days before my scheduled flight. But I however sleep lightly not because of the jitters but I'm a bit apprehensive that I might wake up late and miss my flight :)
