Hi Friends, Now a days whole things are changed. Now in big office people want only degree they have no value of knowledge. As before people want to study in School, College to get Knowledge. But now all things are changed, Now Student want to Study in School, College for Degree they think that life is nothing without degree if they want a good job Or good Salary. If they do not have any degree they life is waste. What do you think??

Times has changed bro. Companies tend to look more on the Guys who has a degree than a guy who is undergraduate but has a vast knowledge about that particular matter. But there are lots of alternatives if you don't have a degree. You can work on it or stick at the internet and try to earn some there.

For me, it is the knowledge that is more important than any degree since you can’t have a degree if you don’t have enough knowledge to get one. Assuming you are faking your degree through bribery so you can work fast, the result will be immediate termination because without proper knowledge you can’t perform your job properly. Assuming you have a connection in a certain company where you work so you will not get fired easily, the result is, the company will suffer from your poof performance and still you get fired along the way. Knowledge is very important because it is give you the ability to get someone else’s trust. If I am going to ask you, which person do you prefer? A person with degree but poor performance or a person without degree but can work proficiently in his job? Of course you go to the person without degree. You see, it is not about degree anymore, it is about the contentment you’ll get from someone’s work. So I prefer knowledge compare to degree, if you have knowledge, you have power.

Nice topic. Unless you are starting your own business no company will employ you if you are not a graduate. As a matter of fact they look for post graduates Society recognises these degrees although knowledge-wise one needs to go for experience in the specific fields.

It is what they say but it's already not true since years. At least in my country. Nobody is willing to give you a contract anymore or willing to pay a (high) income because you have a degree or better/higher education. Also.. no director likes to hire someone who is smarter or higher educated. Over here hey ask 14-16 years old with years of experience, which they can pay less, and they can "educate" the way they like. They don't need to give them a contract, can kick them out after 1 or 3 months.

Hello friend, Yes you are right. Now-a-days it is true. The degree is more important then knowledge. If you have a good degree then you will be a succesful man in future. But if you have knowledge then your future is nothing. Have a nice day.

I'm so happy you posted this discussion! I feel the same as you. College degrees are well earned and positive things to obtain. But, degrees and continued education aren't the end of life if theyre not obtained. Intelligent people work as janitors, waitresses, mechanics, etc. Who says they have no education or knowledge? It's a game! Work hard for this, and we'll give you that, and when you get what "they" say you need, they change the game. A degree is just that. A degree! A certain level of education about a specific field of study. If it were free to earn degrees, how many people would have them? How many people would be earning suitable salaries to take care of their families? Off the subject thought is, some employers check your credit now days before they consider interviewing people. What's credit have to do with employment?

Some companies prefer people with a degree but also have a vast amount of knowledge. Some people can pick many kinds of knowledge while they are still studying for a degree. I agree that some companies prefer degrees because degrees is a reflection of a potential employee's dedication or ability to complete something. But I don;t think that gettign a degree should stop someone to learning something ore about life or the industry. getting a degree just gives you an orientation or the possible knowledge that you might need. there are still many things to learn. A degree can prepare you but it's not the ultimate place or time to know everything about a certain work.

hi burhan2husian, actually in my opinion a degree is knowledge.. Now I know a lot of companies will not even consider one for employment without a degree, but I think we should all have a plan "B".. So there are a lot of sucessful people without degrees so I definately would not think "there life is wasted"

I would understand why companies would require such. Of course, that's the only or best way they could get an assurance that you have the qualifications they need for a certain position. It may also show that you are a responsible and reliable person, for having gone thru college and completed your course. They would have no other way of knowing that, if not for your papers. HOwever, there are companies who would take undergraduates, because they don't have any specific field required, like in call centers. They look at your skills, more than your educational attainment.

Guidelines are necessary in todays society but some of them are not really useful if a company is looking for a professional... Knowledge is not power, applied knowledge is! (Andy Shaw). Our society measures intelligence by 'how good we can memorize instead of if we are able to use our brain!' Did you know that Albert Einstein was a dunce at school? (Yes, I do mean the physicist!) The best degree is worthless if the person who holds it has never applied the learnt knowledge!!! (I have lots of friends which are very successful in what they are doing. Most of them are self made millionaires and none of them had a degree before they became successful! Some of them achieved degrees after and don't always select their employees by the degree they are holding.) I think it is more important to have dug many holes and experienced the various problems and ways that could bring than have only learnt about them via books and a couple of real life applications...
