For the past few weeks, I have been experiencing a hard-to-go-to-sleep kind of thing. Is it because of stress? I don't know how to cope up with this. It brings me headache esp. in the morning, since I have to wake up early to do things for my kids. At night, I have a hard time getting asleep. My thoughts are everywhere...Problems, Plans for my kids, my asthma...ugh! (I don't want to grow old with my asthma!) and many other things that makes me crazy! Thanks though I can use myLot as an outlet to my emotions...

Stress is the number one reason and also your thoughts being active and worried that is why you cannot sleep easily. Before I don't have problems with sleeping but as I grow old I experience it more often. Probably there is some vitamin deficiency too. It is important to relax the mind 2 hours before going to bed.

i have bad asthma and find i have to sleep on an extra pillow and i also sleep on my side, but stress, for sure is a big thing. i am pretty lucky that i don't stress over things too much. i practice deep breathing and counting my breaths which usually puts me to sleep.

Hi,
I experienced insomnia as well and yes, I hate it. Lol.. When I read your discussion, it kinda remind me of what is happening to me recently. I couldn't sleep and I wake up early because I have to go to work.
It causes me headache and sometimes because I cannot deal with it any better, I should have some pills.
I think of too many things, I guess. I have a lot of things to do and so little time.. lol..
I try to drink something warm to make me feel relax so that I could sleep easily.

Yeah- i think stress is the main thing that is making it hard for you to sleep. You think too much therefore your mind can't relax and go to sleep.. You should deal with your problems first or just stop thinking abut them at night..

Stress, anxiety, and worry can most definitely interrupt your sleep. If this continues to happen, you'll need to see your doctor about possibly getting started on a sleeping pill. The same thing happened to me, and my doctor put me on Ambien, which works well for me. You may need to try a few different ones until you find one that works for you.

I would be taking care of thesee things during the day so you aren't worried about them at night. Do some research or make some phones calls so your fears are eradicated and you can RELAX. If this isn't something you can readily do then take a walk in the evenings or do some exercises(yoga is good) before you go to bed. Do the 'thoughts are everywhere' while you are walking. If none of these options work for you you might try goint to the parmacy and get a tablet calleed Melotonin. It is actually a natural property that your body makes. Take one for afew nights. If it isn't working take two. Etc.

Yes, there are times where I have problems falling asleep as well. Sometimes it would be only for a night and then the next day I would be fine and fall asleep at my regular time. It just is nice to have a cool and calm environment to sleep in. So I try to remove all the stress in my mind before I fall asleep. If I am not able to sleep then I try to keep occupied in different ways like being on mylot. lol.

jewelsam:
this happens mainly due to extra worries. Asthma -- we must find to which food/environment are you allergic. I was having asthma severely from 16 to 52 years
now not much at a lower level i can manage with one tablet or inhaler puff only.
When you go to bed tell within yourself "i cannot do anything for my children or sleep' this is my sleeping time let me relax". If you tell three times and also recite sloka or mantra you like you will get sleep. you may also drink 1/2 cup of half milk with or without sugar(depending on whether you are likely diabetic).
When you take pressure of work in mind while going to sleep you will not get sleep.Even the big warriors like Alexander the Great had problem for want of sleep. Sleep is like food. If we do not eat we become tired, similarly if we do not sleep we will be half effective only,.

Insomnia can occur for noumerous reasons. Stress and anxiety is certainly not helping. I have also messed up my biological clock, so now I cant sleep before 4 o'clock in the morning, and wake up before 12 in the afternoon. The best way to reduce your stress, is to be in peace with yourself. If you have come to that point, you can also try drinking some hot herbal beverages. I'm not sure how much into botanology you are, but if you do a quick research, you will find how much it can help you relax. To help you begin that research, valerian is a great herb that can be used against insomnia. I'm no expert in botanology, so you should always ask an expert's advice beforehand, especially if you have a condition such as asma. I wouldn't want you to experience any discomfort from my advice. However, I really think you should check valerian out. It's something natural at least that is in no way harmful with side-effects, like pills can be.

It can be hard to sleep at times. Especially when you have a lot of things on your mind. I also have asthma, and it wakes me up during the night. When you have a lot of stress it is hard to sleep. I often wake up at different times in the middle of night. It is hard to sleep for the entire night.
