Why can't you stay?

That is my question to those whom I refer here on mylot. I really can't understand why all my referrals don't stay long here. At first they would say they like the thought of being able to express their thoughts and that mylot is so different from other websites and it's a good site where they can earn extra income. But then, after a few weeks, they disappear . What is it with them that they can't stay longer here? Mylot is not hard to love, the members here are easy to love and befriend with and there are so many discussions of their interest that they can actually respond to. I am just sad because I really wanted to have more and more new friends here and I am sure they can contribute with the growth of mylot because they are new and they can share more discussions to us, I am not saying the old members here are not contributing any at all, but something new and fresh to us all will be good isn't it?

New users bring a breath of fresh air to myLot and I agree that we need them!
I think that many don't stay because they can't be bothered to type to earn for cents, without stopping to think that those cents soon add up. They want something for nothing, or next to nothing, and they don't even stay long enough to realise that there is nowhere else online like myLot.
When I see new users who are getting the hang of things I join in with them as soon as I can in the hope of catching their interest. If I can get them to post a bit more and then a bit more, so that when earnings update they see some in their account, then they might stay long enough to reaĆ²lise just how many other things there here that go far beyond the earnings.

Maybe they are afraid of you just looking at the number beside your name .
You are right, they really are looking at their every day cents without thinking that those cents will soon go up to a dollar. They are just not too patient enough and not too hardworking in making quality discussions and responses.
@salma07, diana is indeed one of the best motivators here. I even thought she was one of the admins here when I first came here .

i guess, all the newbie come here with the intention of making fast money and it is kind of hard to reach the payment because of the way the discussions are rated and everything. When i joined here, i was not active for a month and then i was going through a tough time in my next month so i posted something about my then current situation and so many mylotters came to help me, guide that moved my heart and i forgot about money and everything..yes i do agree that mylot is a great place to express thoughts, help others, to make new friends who are real and it is easy to fall in love with mylot, if it wasnt for that particular discussion i would have never stayed in here, but i do regret no posting responses in it though, but i make up by posting a lot now, and the third month i got to knw the task section, though its very little i am able to reach payouts because of it. otherwise it is quiet hard to reach the payout here, i think that is why people tend to loose interest..
But, now i find lot of newbies posting consistently, i think the trick is to encourage them by giving a BR when they do a good job. Every newbie i've come across has given some thoughts before posting the discussion i encourage them by giving a BR or positive point according to the post, i dont knw if its a good habit though but i guess this is the least of what i can do.

hi salma and gaiza yes rating them when they are doing so good is really helping everyone and I now rate everyone as I go along like
a habit. some newcomers do make some great discussions and they should be patted on the back some way so BRS are a good way to
go too.when I was new I had a lot of older ones helping me and I still appreciate it here as the leader in this whole thing. I am 85 and still participating and loving it and being accepted as just
another mylotter instead of the old lady I am. People here as a rule are friendly and helpful too.

Age doesn't matter here. Everybody is welcome as long as we want. We thank you hatley for you are one of those people we look up to here and like a mom, we respect your every discussion and responses. We salute you for being one of the best friend we can ever have here in mylot.

Exactly, since we have been here ahead of them, we should be the ones welcoming them and giving them BR for doing a good job is one way of encouraging them. I rate them since I don't really start discussion regularly, I also send them a friend request just so they know that we are friendly people here willing to help them and guide them here. Although, we are not really that best in that part since they can always read the term and guidelines below, but still our own little words will help them to understand mylot even better.

haha ohh same question i have in mind, to be honest. i mean when i am here in mylot i was nor even pursuaded, i read the stuffs and got to know the site on my own and now i am actively participating and is enjoying being here on the site, sharing and earning at the same time. Well i guess not all are the same, really. people can just register and not come back for many reasons, i guess mostly they found it boring to be here - found the earnings too little for them, and so on.

Friends do come and go in real life and mylot is not an exemption to that. We have our own choices which we think can serve us better. If we really think thou, the amount of earnings for every post is really small. It could be this reason why they can't stay longer in the site without thinking that this amount will soon become a good figure day after day. We can't blame them if they are not as patient, hardworker as we are.

I agree, we really can't force every one here to stay because they have their own reasons. And one of it could be their earnings. We really can't blame them if they want instant big money, they will never get it if they don't have patience and if they don't get to learn how mylot really works.

I for one had thoughts of giving up mylot due to the same reason. Also been away for a year but I came back because somehow mylot isn't all about the earnings as there are things that you can enjoy or benefit from the site. You can win friends, you can seek suggestions or advises or even practice your writing skills etc.

Yes, I am also thinking and pondering about that. That closest reason that I can get is that those people trying out myLot and eventually didn't last are the people who wants to get rich quick with not much effort at all. Most people quit if they can't get what they want the easiest way possible. I don't blame them for that. It's their choice. However, I really think that they are missing the point of how myLot works. If only they just tried harder and become more active out in here.

Why do new mylotters not stay here? My take on the matter is that they are not here to join in discussions, they are not here to have fun, they are not here to make friends, or even to educate themselves or expand their minds. The lotters that leave do so because they are here to make money. They don't want to take the time to read the guidelines or to figure things out as they gain more experience on the site. They want money, they want lots of it and they want it NOW! Frankly I am a little tired of seeing discussions started in every way possible by some mylotters, usually fairly new ones whining and complaining about their lack of money on this site. How can I make more from mylot, what is the best way to make money on mylot, mylot didn't pay me today and on and on and on. If it were easy to make money on mylot everybody and his dog would be here. It is first and foremost a discussion forum site. The fact that you earn a few cents is secondary and a bonus. Those new mylotters who leave have just discovered that it is not the money making site they thought it was, therefore have made the proper decision in leaving as it probably isn't the site for them. Quality is definitely better than quantity when it comes to mylot members.

Correct, my friend's referral here whom I personally know also was very excited to post and even said this is all new to her and she felt very nice being here. You can really see her face all smiles and her eyes full of excitement. But after 50 or 60 something posts, she got inactive. I ask her why, maybe I can help her with something but she just told me she finds it boring already. Sad, but I can't do anything about it. She finds twitter and facebook more fun... .

hi g aiza they cannot stay as they are the instant generation. everything must be done in seconds not minutes and they do not want to work at any thing. they want instant money just for being on
here but do not want to write discussions unless its just two
lines like How do you like your pizza? thin crust or thick?then as they did not read the guidelines they get the discussion
deleted so they scream "mylot is a scam: and they leave.
WE do need newcomers like a breath of fresh air bu t they
must learn realistic expectations. Also they need to read the
information mylot gives them links to and remember to use
it when making quality discussions and posts.

Exactly
Patience is really the key here. Instant big money never shows up on their paypal account with just a matter of a few posts and a few sentences. If only they could learn to love mylot first before the money, they will surely be staying here.

same thoughts gaiza..
I personally think that mylot maybe open to everybody but very few could really stay and love here. Those few persons like us, are usually just the ones who love to interact, share thoughts, listen to other persons... if those we invite are not, then they would not last...

I was hoping these new members would last, because I really can see that they are good and that they have new topics that we have never came across with here. They have comments that are helpful to us as well even if we are here for quite long. Sad, but, we really can't force them to stay

I joined myLot a few months ago and I don't have any referrals yet, but from my understanding as a relatively new user is that people's first impression when they join the site is that they can make a lot of money by opening a lot of dicussions. And if they don't get lots of answers with the outcome that they were hoping, it is most likely that they'll give up.
As a new member I was dissapointed sometimes when my discussion was deleted or I had no answers. But I understand now that you have to play with the rules of myLot and contribute to make this site better so I gave it a second hance and I decided to honestly participate to the community. Later, I was pleasantly impressed when I received so many helpful advice from the people in the site and I realised that I like it here and I want to stay, even if I can't write as often as I'd like to.
So, I believe that you need to give time to your referrals and support them when the first join the site until they learn how to use it and then hopefully they will appreciate it.
