It's 2012, and there's still racism and hate. Racism and hate starts at what point in our lives? As children, being raised to hate? Or, after a bad experience? What do you think?

I think racism is a learned behavior. We do not come into this world hating a certain race, but rather are exposed to it. I think it is a very ignorant way to raise children as the world is made up of many different races and we are all different...that is what makes us unique. In spite of the experiences we may have had with someone, hating an entire race and raising children to do so is purely ignorant. I think we should learn to be tolerant of other people equally, in spite of race.

That's right. I ran into a white couple the other day, and they were pulling their little boy behind them in a wagon. The parents scowled at me, but the baby boy was smiling big as day at me. So sweet and innocent. Wonder how he will grow up thinking.

You would think that that older we get the wiser we should be...in the case of racism it will always exist and I say just as long as they are not trying to hurt you, igore them. Poor kid, he probably will be raised to hate other races and for no apparent reason he will carry that into his adulthood. It's a vicious cycle and parents should not impose that on their children. Hating someone because of race or for any other reason takes alot of energy...wasted energy, that is.

I fear that as long as humanity exists there will always be racism. That is one fact that many people I think know deep down and that frustrates them. There were always be people who will be looked down because they are rather different. And people will look down at people and not even know why, because it has been something that has been taught for generation after generation. There is really no reasoning for racism most of the time and when there is, it is just about a couple of bad experiences, as a lot of people just think of things in simplistic ways. Yet it is just something that happens. Some races have been at war with each other or have looked down at each other, when those who have stirred up the conflict have long since passed from its world. The cycle of hate will continue until extinction and that is the bad point about racism.

Ignorance is bliss for many! I agree with everything you wrote here! Your perception matches mine.

i think it depends on the situation. some people are rise to hate literally or subconsciously. some people have had to many bad or a bad experience. i also blame the media for perpetuation of hate. on the other hand, i do think it's getting better as people are becoming more evolved. we are in the stage of evolution, by the way. don't give up. something is going to come up, or maybe somethings that will make people just finally break down and stop it. something is going to all push us together.

Unfortunately, I think there will always be racism. We will achieve a certain amount of equality one person at a time. Some people will never change though.

I don't think racism and hate will totally disappear in the world even after 2050 or whenever. It's been with us even from a thousand years ago. I think it's a human nature to hate. We just need to be responsible in our actions.

I think racism and hate starts within our hearts. It is what we think about other people that lead us to a feeling of hate and racism. The place where we live, the family or friends that we have, have great factors of feeling racism and hate. We better change our mentality that our race is much better than any other race to eradicate racism. We must love our enemy and practice the sayings "forgive and forget" to avoid hate in our hearts. Of course, it is always easier said than done but the love for our brothers will move us to avoid racism and hate.

Yes. Easier said than done. Glad I don't have to try so hard to do this.

I think a little bit both. I think a lot is instilled in us from our family members, but also our own experiences of other races in school, and interactions in general life as well.

Yes, I think its both too. My parents raised me to be cool with those who are cool with me. I'm glad too! It has given me many opportunities to think and live this way.
