I'm a real Movie Buff! I think it's good therapy to watch movies that take my mind off my own real life problems. Escaping to the movie world, is just another way for me to relax. Watching movies also gives me fresh ideas and helps me produce good writing material. Why do you like movies?

Movies can do all sorts of different things to me, and make me feel all sorts of different things, depending on the genre! Well, for one thing, a good horror movie can shock me, horrify me, or if has a good plot and isn't really predictable, it can make me wonder "who killed that guy?!" A good comedy can make me laugh without a bunch of disgusting jokes mixed in, can relax me, and can even distract me from real life. Some movies have really made me think and questioned my way of thinking and how I view life... and bad movies with lousy acting and unoriginal plots bore me to sleep, for the most part!

You're right! "Escaping to the movie world" from the reality is one fo the main reasons why I watch movies. And yes it gives us ideas and the more movies we watch, the more we get cultured. I watch movies as they help me take my mind off my daily problems and stresses of my life.

There are several reasons I like to watch movies. I like to watch romantic period piece movies first. I like them because usually women are treated with such respect and I like that. Then I like horror flicks too. I do have a dark side and I don't really enjoy seeing violence or such but just that the bizarre is entertaining to me. And, as you said I like some that I think will give me ideas for my writing.

Like the victorian age when they wore fancy dresses and the women were treated with respect.

Beside the fact that it relaxed my mind from stress, it gives me new ideas on how to create stories with twist specially if I'm not satisfied with the ending part or sometimes the whole plot of that movie. Some might say 'it's just for entertainment!', but for aspiring writers like most of us it gives us the energy to replenish our writing abilities. Knowing a lot of movies out there were wasting their money and effort for a crap plot. What happened to the word 'masterpiece'? I was wondering, for a long time.
Hollywood movies were really good when it comes to effects but if your into stories, it's a big disappointment. Try searching Asian movies, in there you'll find what it means by 'masterpiece'.

I like movies, because unlike any other form of visual art they are more in depth they are art rolled up in one: Visual, Motion, Music, and Emotion. I like how movies are brought up from a simple story line of everyday life to an extraordinary surreal world.

Like you I enjoy movies over regular half hour or hour shows.
I like watching a lot of lifetime movies as they are taken from true events.
But I have to admit I have quite a stash of DVDS of all sorts. and then I have a folder with all my disney, and animated movies.
I have Netflix, and have really seen some good movies that I may not have ever seen on regular TV.
I watch some to learn on different cultures. Guess even when movie watching you can always learn something.
