i have been eating tamarind lately and i could not get myself to stop. lol i know too much of something is bad enough.
But this is one of those seasonal things for me, so let me. hahaha. This is the ripe one, where the tamarind from green turns to brown and is cooked and now looks like some tamarind paste..and mmmmmm it is sour and yummy..and i dip it into salt. I want to upload a picture but the picture does not look like delectable as it is a big brown glob lol...
my kids eat this as well but i give them in moderation as they might have some stomach upset. I know someone here on mylot told me tamarind is richer in vitamin C... ![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

Hi jazel
We had a tamarind tree in our earlier house campus. We Indians use that in so many different delicacies... but ever since I have Ulcerative Colitis, this tamarind and many other eatables are banned for me
Never mind, I still feast on Water Melons - though I dont have any idea of their nutritional value but I know they are 98% water
(good to save me from dehydration in this hot summer.
And my wifey is just crazy about mangoes... she even wants me to steal some from our landlords trees even if they are unripe... though she will be here around 20th of this month, I still remember the last year afresh! and I did steal 2 for her

Hmmmm, that sure tastes good. My saliva is starting to drool
..ahaha.
I didn't know tamarinds are rich in vitamin C, but if that's the case I think those that are fresh from the tree are richer than those already cook. But, whatever it is, it still does taste good. Eat moderately though. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Tamarinds are my favorite too. When I was a kid, there is a tamarind candy sold in school and it is the best tamarind candy for me. It has many sugar and salt. There are tamarinds that are just sweet or just salty. Some tamarind candy are creamy too.

I haven't seen tamarind trees here in Bukidnon that much. There are a lot of tamarind trees in Ormoc, Leyte that is how i remembered it even my favorite lumboy/duhat is very common there. When I was still a kid my friends and I would rush to a tamarind tree or lumboy tree that is bearing fruits already and its usually this time of the year (SUMMER!) and we would blissfully enjoy them with a little salt and let the good time pass. Sigh ... I miss the old days ![](/Content/images/emotes/sorry.gif)

I have had tamarind before and it's strangly good. I've never tried to put salt on it, but I think that would be good as well. I can understand the "addiction" to it and you're right, best to treat yourself.

Oh my, jazel, this post of yours caused me to salivate. I could just imagine the taste of the way that tamarind was cooked and i know it's so delicious.
I was a former fan of that tamarind. It's just that , i haven't seen any ambulant vendor selling that anymore.
I guess i have to look for one, once i can already go out. ![](/Content/images/emotes/drool.gif)

I am watering watching the picture, I never had it but I think it should be nice. Now in China, we will have watermelon, pineapple and dragon fruit in summer season.
