You are really tired but you have to go to work. How do you find new energy?

I think that many of you recognize this situation. It is time to get up and leave for work, but you are really tired and just feel like staying in bed. You know it is not possible because people are counting on you and you need the money so you have to get up whether you want to or not. I work at night and this weekend I have to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday instead of just Saturday and Sunday. I usually rest a few hours on the couch before I am leaving for work and when I get back to my home early in the morning I go to bed. Last night I fell asleep on the couch and I found it very hard to find the energy to go to work, but of course I had to do it anyway. What is your experience? How do you get new energy when you are very tired and find it hard to get up and leave for work? How do you motivate yourself when are really tired?

i just grab one of my favorite cd and blast it in my car. Hopefully it'll boost my adrenalin a little. If i still feel tired then, just take a cat nap for awhile. Not advisable but what to do.

Music is a great way to get new energy when we feel tired I am not able to listen to loud music in my home at the time when I leave for work, because I would disturb the neighbours, but I love to listen to loud music in the car. I always listen to my favourite music on the way to work, and I wouldn't leave the house without some of my favourite cds.

I can't imagine myself without having music around. Dull and gloomy it seems. Music is so powerful that it can dictate the disposition of anyone who can hear it. I used to listen to smooth jazz when I need to relax.

Well, to do this, I need to motivate myself to get up. I always try not to think about work. To be honest, I try to think of the sexy chick that I might be able to sit beside with while commuting or my sexy office mate or the hot nurse. They give me motivation to get up and move to go to work. But it do works for me! Try thinking of something that you like in your work environment and focus in thinking about that. Then you will find the urge to move up and fast to go to work. Just my thoughts!

It sounds like you have found a different kind of motivation I like your idea about focusing on the positive things and the things that we enjoy about our work. I think that we are always able to find some positive things if we look for them. It doesn't have to be big things, it could be small things about our daily routine that we enjoy. I don't think that there are any hotties at my work but I am sure that I can find other things that I enjoy if I think carefully about it.

Yes, that is life. Maybe some can say that my way of motivation is crazy, but it works. However, crazy it is, I have success in getting through me by such way so I am keeping it that way. I think that it is human nature to be motivated to do something if there are pleasant thing or person which comes with that something.

Wow, that's a different one Agrent:) But I think it can work, yeah in fact it works, it's just that I've never used it for going to work. But I remember not going to gym for almost a week because the hottie that I like watching was on leave. Guess what, he doesn't even know that I eye him. We have a gym at work and every time I see passing going to gym, I also take my gym bag, I changed my gym time because of him. Unbelievable I know, but yeah. It's called life.

This is the story of my life. I have a full time demanding job mon-fri and a 2nd part time job working 12 hours every saturday. I have to get up at 6am 6 days each week and my sunday is filled with errands and chores. Sometimes I just want to give up! But I do it to support my kids.

It sounds like both of you have very little time to relax. It is exhausting to have two jobs, but sometimes it is neccesary because we need the money. Now that I work in weekends I don't really look forward to the weekends, because I know that I will be busy with work and I spend most of the weekends on working and sleeping. I am not going to keep that extra job forever, but right now I need it.

Oh finally here's someone I agree with, I also work work work, but I can't say I feel tired, on Saturdays I just want to rest my body after five days of waking up. With me it's not a must to go on Saturdays but it's overtime at my work place, sometimes I don't go because I'd be feeling so exhausted but most of the time I go because I'm a single parent. I think a term for this is life.

That's burn-out. I suggest you get yourself some good vitamins to give you power to last the days. Also, always have carbohydrates in your diet. And the last source of energy is from within you. You get it from your head telling your body to get up and get energized. Self-motivation always works for me.

Thanks for the advice, Cutie and mikyung I think that you are right about the burn-out. I think that one of the problems is the fact that I have an extra job as well as a voluntary job at the moment. I didn't have my extra job when I started the voluntary job, but now I have both. I don't want to give up the volutary work, because I enjoy my voluntary job as a language teacher and my students and I have a great relationship, but sometimes it gets a little too much, because I don't get enough rest.

I agree. It's a burn-out. You need to unload any burden you have right now and try to refocus your mind to positive things. We need a healthy body to have a health mind. Be healthy and pray.

I always tell myself that every single second I'm spending with work is earning me money. Also, I listen to lots of good music while travelling to work.

The money is a good thing to keep in mind when it is difficult to find the energy to go to work. My weekend job is an extra job that I have taken because I want to save up money for travelling, and my trip if is my motivation. I still don't have all of the money that I need for the trip and if I want to travel this year I need to work hard. I try to remember that when I am tired and don't feel like going to work. I work at night and sometimes it seems so tempting to stay in bed, but I have to work if I want to save up the money for my trip. Music is another way to find new new energy. I live in a semi detached and we can't listen to loud music in our home, because it disturbs the neighbours, but I love to listen to my favourite music in the car.

Hi Nikhabele! I appreciate your concern for me and you have a point about my job. My husband said something similar to me a few days ago, and I think that he is worried about me because I work a lot at the moment. I took the extra job because I still don't have all of the money that I need for my trip in November and December. I am trying to save as much as I can from my regular income, but it is not quite enough, and I need more money. I don't intend to keep this weekend job forever, I will give it up when I find something that is less exhausting. I am thinking about spending more time on my online earning sites because I would be able to do that from my home and it would be less stressful.

I won't say money should be your motivation cause you can also find another better paying job(if it's about Money) so rather look for something that interests you about your job and think bout it when you feel like not going. Porcosino, don't over work yourself. You saying you started that job because you wanted extra money but still that money doesn't add to what you want, but exhaustion is catching up with you, then clearly you don't need that. I'd say either quit that job or find something that won't demand your energy that much. I mean you don't want to go to hospital at the time you'd rather be going to your holiday now, or do you?

I'm pretty sure that I have the same plight like most of the working people around. When it is time to to get up and leave for work, but really tired and just feel like staying in bed forever. I think, my main motivation is to have the money to support my loved ones. In order to lessen the feeling of tiredness, I make it sure to sleep for 5 to 6 hours the night before. Another is that I make plans for my days off, like being with friends and family, watching movies or travelling to a new place. I'm also into meditation. This is something that I look forward to and to recharge my mind and body.

It sounds like you have found a good ways to handle the situation. I think it is a great idea to make plans for your days off, because that gives you something to look forward to. We all need those days every once in a while in order to get new energy. I have some things that I look forward in May like an anniversary dinner with my husband and a movie night, if I focus more on things that I think that will be easier to find my motitivation again. You also mentioned meditation. I used to meditate, but I haven't done it for a while. Your response inspired me to start again, I think I am going to try that.

This has happened to me frequently in the past and these days as if two days of no work is not enough.. well what i do is just think that i should get up and do my work already otherwise i would only be seeing my work piling up. we have to to what has to be done - that is what i put in mind and almost always when i manage to pick up or get up from the bed i would notice that the tiredness is eventually wearing off as i prepare to leave the house, a good shower, a nice cold drink in the morning... =)

I have an auto-immune disease that keeps me tired often. I get tired easily and going to work 5 days a week pretty much wipes me out. I usually sleep late on Saturday mornings and then get up and do my work around the house and laundry. Sundays are quiet and relaxation days and I do a little cooking. I really have to take a day off every now and then just to get caught up on my rest. It's hard, but my normal is going through the week tired and ending the week super tired. Motivation? I know if I don't get up I'll be sleeping a good portion of my life away.

In a situation like yours it is really important to get some rest in the weekends. It is a good thing that you are able to have to a quiet realxation day on Sunday. I can relate to your siatuation because I used to have an illness that made me extremely tired. Today I have more energy, but I still remember how challenging it was to work at that time. I got tired so easily and I needed many breaks.

I personally think Kareng have to consult a specialist of some sort cause it's either there's a problem in her system or she's over using the word tired. Kareng, I'd think you don't like your job if you were not saying over weekends you get "super tired". So something tells me either you are stressed but you not aware or you not enjoying something in your life currently. Porcospino, you are saying you used to have some sort of illness, if I were you I'd get worried that maybe its coming back. It's either that or you simply don't like your job. But as I was reading your story I thought he/she doesn't like this place he/she goes to on weekends. I thought that cause there was a time in my life when the same thing was happening to me. I hated my job but obviously I had to do it cause I needed some money. And by the way then I was also working weekends. The bottom line will then be, weekends are for resting not working. Well unless you like it, there are people who were always on high spirits then when I was working on weekends. They were enjoying every minute of it. Good luck to both of you:)

I am sorry to hear about your health problems, it must be frustrating that you can't get a good night's sleep. I have gone to work without sleeping and it was very hard to get through to the day, I was so tired, but I tried to keep myself busy as much as possible. Today it is not difficult for me to get a good night's sleep, because the medcine that I take helps me fall asleep and when I fall asleep I sleep the rest of the night.

Cher how do you explain a "horrible sleeper"? Every body needs that rest, it's really bad for your health to not sleep and think dehydration will sort you out. Try getting some sleep dearie.

Good day to you Porcospino, Well, I have had already faced almost the same situation. That I was so tired and yet I need to wake early on the next day. That, no matter how tired I am, still, I do not have a choice. That I just got my energy to what I have in mind. That I need to be strong and do my task so I can earn more and save more as well. That whenever I feel so tired, I just always think, I need to earn more to save more. And it works for me. Although it is a simple line to express but it provokes me to do my task eagerly.

It seem that you lost interest in your work. Many people hate the job but they have to do it because they need money. You do extra work in the weekend, It's meant to be tired, If you continue to work overtime like that, Your hard-earned money may spend on the hospital instead of the trip.

Sometimes a ten minutes nap works. Just lock your computer and go to a quite place in your work place and nap, you feel so unbelievably recharged thereafter. Well I do that sometimes, I guess we all get burned out once in a while, because if I'm not too tired I can't do the ten minute nap.

This is one of those feeling I used to dread before, but eventually I find a solution in combating such feeling. I am a kind of person who gets too excited with the thought of traveling, so what I do is, I make my travel plans an inspiration for me to last another work day. This happens to me especially during Friday morning. Whenever I feel like not going to work, I motivate myself by thinking that if I get through that day, I'll be celebrating the weekend by going to some place I have never been before.

That is a really great idea Maybe I should do the same thing. I love travelling and visiting new places so I think that would be a great sourse of motivation for me. Maybe I could take a short trip every time I finish my weekend job, I think that would make it easier to get through the last hours of work. I always wanted to visit some of the small islands in my area so that could be my reward when I finish my job

Hi porcospino When I was working as a teacher, I never felt tired teaching and was always there. Yes, somedays, I did not want to teach though and so opted for some other ways to continue like I would have a quiz thing or even ask the students to go in for an extempo - all related to study. Maybe because I was - a. more interested in being with my students and b. I was healthy and in my 20-30s. Today, I am ill, weak, and more on medicines that on anything else. With this definitely I have many days when I feel low in energy. Though I work from home today, I still feel weak many a days and refrain from working. This complete week, I have been away, offline and have emailed my clients that I am unable to work as I am feeling quite low, depressed and un-energetic. Luckily I have two clients who are much aware of my illness, and are gentle enough to co-operate. The new ones though often say goodbye and I cannot make them stay.

hi. I also meet with this kind of situation. i am really tired , i am so reluctant to go to work , in which case, i tell myself i must get up. Going to work is my duty and gradually i have the energy. In addition, people have stress from work , family and other things. So one should look after himself first and then he can work. However busy one is, he must find time to relax of refresh himself.Have a good day.

When we are tired, we could not work well. If we don't do refresh ourselves, sure even you try your best but you can't work also, it just makes us more tired. In my case, I will try to take a nap for a while to get back my energy and then work again.
