Well I am from the customer service department of the call center where I work, But I do have a past with telemarketing. The company i work for have a sales department too but I dont work there and I am thankful that i dont. I kinda observed that their supervisor, manager and team leader are mean as hell. They were shouting things to the agents "one sale a day!!!" I think they regularly fire people who cant achieve that quota, 1 sale a day. I also notice how verbally abusive their manager was. Thank God I dont work with them. Their department is so chaotic, I kinda see tears 3 times a month, I had seen telemarketers crying over the pressure and rejection. I am not an agent anymore, but when I see the telemarketers, I am having daydream nightmares... it brings back traumatic memories when i use to be one.

I am also working at a call center, our company is a market research so what I do everyday, is call people to do interview with them, my supervisor is a mean woman, if you follow my discussion earlier you will know what I mean, anyway she been kind for 2 days consecutively, and everyday before going to work I will pray to God so that I get many successful interviews, it always work that way, but in the office, I have been seeing my supervisor's face for a long time already, I been kind of used to it. I am glad that I am still working here, any other job like the office one is still the same as hell, nasty bosses and colleagues, its just that in call center, we see less face but hear many voices, if you know what I mean. Good Luck! Keep me update in your discussion about your workplace.

some employees may consider me as their boss but I am not mean... well my presence is intimidating but I prefer to be respected over being feared. I felt bad to the telemarketers, I mean they have to deal with mean angry people in the phone then they have mad angry managers.

That is so kind of you. I wish I had a boss like you, but it is always sunny and rainy days to me.

I am a level 2 tech support rep. To be honest, I am not really that much into technology or computers. After training they herd us out on the production floor and let us take calls. Scary as hell when you're a first timer. I did my job as best as I could but my supervisor still wasn't satisfied... Heck, he even told me I don't know how to work with a team when he was actually pushing me to pull my stats up. Well... he took me out of the account 6 days before I got regularized. And yeah... He never told me I was going have to pack up soon. Never even gave me notice of what the hell was going on. Guess what. I got kicked out of my job because I wouldn't eat lunch with them. What the hell? If they paid me to eat lunch with them every single day, I'd be happy as the fat, laughing Buddha. Sorry, but lunch hour is not paid. Sucks for me, right? Well, I left with my nose in the air, and landed myself a better job with better people to work with! Better pay, too!!!

I only lasted 3 months in sales, and those 3 months are like the most stressful months of my life. tech support is hard to but I manage to last 5 years and I manage to get promoted. I felt bad to those agents who dont want to be in sales and applied for customer service but got forced to do sales. but we know when applying for a position in a call center people can just be picky, Luck is an element to enter customer service department.

hello Capt, I have a friend who works in a company that deals with sales and he only stayed there for a month. Now he works with the company that I have worked before. We don't have any sales account in my previous company-so, I don't have any idea how the pressure goes with sales. Although, I can say that working in a call center really is one of a hell stressful job (duh) But -no- shouting the agent is not allowed in my previous company.

People in my department are more laid back, everyone needs to be composed and calm so they can handle complaints from customers, I think people in the sales department have a hard time cos they were pressured and being yelled by their superiors as well.

I worked in a call center before but never been in a sales team. I really hate being put on that team because I really am not good at selling. Although that skill has been improving these days because I am in a buying and selling job, I still am not confident to go to bigger call centers and do sales job. Being in the call center alone is already stressful how much more if you are being stressed to get 1 sale a day. How could you when the customer really don't want to buy? We can't force them right? I feel sorry for those who have had bad experience with being a sales customer agent. And I feel sorry for you as well for experiencing that traumatic job.

I hate dealing with managers like that. Those who knows nothing good but to pressure their employees and power trip at the same time. I never really find it motivational if I were an employee on that company. It is good to know that you are no longer with them. No one deserves to be treated the way that manager is treating the employees.

Their way of motivation, looks like bullying to me. I dont think its going to inspire people to perform better, instead, it well make them insane. The random scream of 1 sale a day sounds stressful to me. I dont work for them but I am trying my best to ignore them and not observe them cos its stressing me out.
