It's hard to post a good discussion.

Yeah, I find it hard. It's not everyday that I'll think of something that would pique the interests of even a few myLotters and make them participate in the discussion. And I don't actually feel good posting a discussion just so I could earn from it, I'd rather just participate in other's than start a nonsense one. There's also the possibility of the discussion that one will start had already been discussed by others and wouldn't it be pretty tiring to see the same topics over and over again? I don't actually have a question in mind and I'm in no need of help at all, this is just a regular day to me so there's no interesting to say or ask.
And now I'm thinking how you myLotters come up with the discussion you've started? Is it usually about asking questions as well as needing for help? Well I just wanna know that's all. ^^

I usually start discussions when i need some help or when i am curious about something. And sometimes when i have started a nice discussion. It gets deleted because someone else has posted it.
But there are looooooooots of posts here.It is just natural that some posts will be similar.

Aww..yeah, that happened to me too, although the reason it got deleted because of the title of discussion was poll-like so yeah.
@babyanna, the searching engine helps indeed but I must also agree with you that I feel kinda lazy to check up on it everytime I'm planning to start a discussion of my own. ^^

Well, asking for help is not bad at all, we have problems and we need a help, advices to solve it. Mylot is a site for it i think. Good discussions? it is good or not is depend on the people who read it and how much it is related to the topics. We have our own opinions and viewing of problems so that we just give out our opinion of it only.
I really don't care much my discussions will be mark good or not because it is my own opinions, my discussions...

yes we can start discussion for getting our doubts clarified or for informing others about what we have learnt afresh. We can share our opinions and suggestions in the form of discussions.

I agree with the two of you, I actually like to participate in discussions especially if I can be of help to someone, and hearing opinions and other statements from various people is really interesting. Hearing experiences to them is just as good as reading a good book for me. Thank you so much for participating. :D

Hi,jhustinian~
I think it's just like everything else, good discussions just happen. You never know, maybe just from this one you would get a lot of replies.
Everyone has a different interest and also timing is important. When you post some discussions, many people may be working or sleeping. So probably they won't see your discussions at all. And that's why making friends here are important. Your friends will usually see what's been up in your life. And being more active also helps.
It's good that we don't try to start nonsense discussions just to make money. It would be bad and won't bring you a lot of income anyway. Just make sure when some good ideas do hit you,be free to share with our fellow fellas.
To those over-discussed topics, using the search engine is always helpful. And who knows, maybe you can have something new in an old topic.
Good discussions usually are about small things in life. And yeah, asking questions and needing for help both can sparkle good discussions.
Have a nice day~

Oh,okay~Haha,sorry that I misunderstood you.
Well, for me,it's just random. When I see a good article in the newspaper, or have an interesting experience that I wanna share, or simply have a question in mind,I would start a new discussion. Can't speak for the others.

Hello babyanna! :D
Well I'm not expecting for anything either way. I couldn't care less if there'll be few who will respond in my discussion, as long as they could share their thoughts and opinions enthusiastically and honestly, I'm satisfied at that. ^^
I'm not actually asking on how to attract many participants anyway, I'm just wondering what usually inspires other myLotters to post a discussion here.
Thanks anyway, I hope for you that as well.

Is this a good discussion? Do you think this discussion is hard? Would you consider this discussion a nonsense discussion?
Please notice I only asked questions here. Three of them. I did not give an opinion.
For my discussions, it has been about things that have been on my mind. Yes sometimes for some help or a question I have a need to answer but I think primarily for a purpose to actually have a discussion which means I do need comments, opinions and a little interaction or it becomes like a blog with the comment option turned off or one with it turned on and I just keep blogging.

I am wondering or as you said intrigued too, what you consider to be a nonsense discussion. I see all kinds of discussions. Maybe they are interesting for other people but not for me or maybe ones that I go to are good for me but not for others. Not all discussions are question and answer either.
I don't know what your views are so asking questions is a way to find out. Also, I'm using this discussion as a base because now we are in this one so we can relate to this discussion easily. This is what I meant.
I'm very straight forward with my approach to communicating and happy to clarify myself, I am sorry you are not happy but it is not my responsibility to make you happy jhustinian, just have a reasonable discussion ok.

I only start a discussion whenever I happen to come up with a topic that interest me and is not in violation of any myLot guidelines. And that, however, does not happen very often in my case. Hence, I do not start many discussions here; I enjoy reading, responding, or commenting to other discussions though.

True -- we all start a discussion when it is interesting to us. Sometimes it turns out to be not interesting for other members and we do not get responses. I also enjoy reading, responding and commenting on others discussions. good day.

I love reading exchanges of statements here too, some are very informative while some are just plain hilarious at times, but I like them all. :D I'm not that used to following all the guidelines yet, there are still times that I'm committing mistakes unintentionally. I would sometimes forget that one discussion I've responded to had violated a rule here, so my response would be deleted as well, and I think, they deduct our earnings too when we do that? I'm not really sure.

yes. we learn from our mistakes. a few of my responses were deleted. we have not been able to identify the discussion which may be deleted and post our responses. I do not mind about earnings from mylot. Whatever I earn from this is extra favour from mylot and am totally happy.

@ryanong, I start discussions too, to hear the opinions of other myLotters, it's great to be able to learn things from other people and see the same way as their point of vies.

I usually don't post everyday. I just do so if I have a question that I need a lot of opinions about, or when there's a matter I'd like to discuss with people here in MyLot.
Just like you, I'd rather participate with other people's discussion. It's easier to manage those because all you're going to do is just react. You don't really need to read each and every comment given there - it would be respectful to do so if you're the one who started the discussion though.
Anyhow, don't pressure yourself in opening topics or discussions. Just do so what you feel the need or really want to do so.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

That's cool, I don't either, it's actually better when we find interesting discussions and just participate on it. Although, I'll appreciate more if the one who started it would at least respond to the comment I've given, but I do understand because it's not like one could have time and a good response to a statement given.
Don't worry, I'm not pressuring myself or anything like that, I just thought of those people who posts discussion more than once everyday, so I had to ask the myLotters this and start a discussion about it. I do, I don't force myself on anything here.
Thanks! :D

Well, I don't start a whole lot of discussions and it is because I don't have anything good or interesting to talk about. It's nothing unusual for us. Sometimes when I am not online, I think of something I'd like to start a discussion on on Mylot, and I think, 'you need to write that down, you know you can't remember anything'. But I don't go through with writing it down, cause I'm doing something else at the time so when I get to mylot, I rack my brain trying to remember what it was I wanted to write about. I can never remember, so I don't start many discussions.
Sometimes I or other mylotters start discussions because they or I don't fully understand some things having to do with mylot. People ask questions about their ratings going up and down or where is the star chart, etc, etc.
Also we come up with discussions because of a great day or a different day or a sad day we've had, so we can get opinions, advice and different points of view from our many friends at mylot. Wish you well on mylot and off!

In my 2k posts, Only 50ish started discussions and that is because, I really don't know how to make a discussion that would interest all. I even have a few started ones that either doesn't have a response or has only below 5 responses. As much as we would want lotters to respond on every discussion we make, we just can't force then. I usually start a discussion when I have some questions in mind and needs help from fellow lotters or I needed some help. There are a few discussions where I just wanted to share something. And yes, It really is hard to start a discussion when there is a great chance it has already been posted before or it somewhat doesn't interest the greater portion.

I think that for me it is just the matter of having the right idea at the right time, that just sparks what I would think would be an interesting discussion. Of course, what might be an interesting discussion to me and what might be an interesting discussion to other people, those are two really different things to say the least.
Ideas and inspiration can spawn from really anything out there, you just really need to go with it and see what props up. I think that it is just a thought for me, sometimes it might be a question or an issue or just something that I feel like I have to share with the world. We don't really know how well a topic will do until we post it, so yeah just go for it.

Yes, that too, but there are few who would understand us and find the topic interesting as well. I really don't mind the quantity of the responses, 'cause I appreciate the quality more. So long that they share their ideas, thoughts and opinions even if the responses are less than my fingers, I'm pretty alright with that. :D
Yup. mostly are just spur of the moment ideas but they're pretty cool too. :D

jhustinian":
welcome to mylot. Yes. starting a discussion is not that easy as participating in discussions. When I was very active a year back -- there use to be a few members -- who use to tell == it is good to post responses in as many discussions as possible so that we can earn more -- we do not earn by starting a discussion - we will earn only when we reply for the responses posted by other members and that too differently.
I thought I have not been starting more discussions. In order to answer this --I looked at it -- to my surprise I have started 350+ discussions.
I get ideas from my experiences in life -- reading, watching tV, day to day happenings etc.
You can also do that way. Please go thro the discussions of some of your close friends and that will give you a fair idea.

Yes, not really that easy. ^^ Well, one could be much oblivious when he's enjoying his time. ^^ Mine is a lot fewer than yours but I still think that I've already started a lot seeing that I've only been here for a week or so. :D
I hope my day would not always be dull so I could share pretty interesting thoughts in myLot. ^^ Thanks anyways. :D

friend it is not hard as you are thinking about it because in our day to day life so many things are going to be happened and simply we post it in the mylot and share it with the others and we should enjoy the responses from the others and also we could expect some solutions for our problems its simple and i think it is not so hard as your are thinking . and also we can think about few minutes and any new thing if strikes in our mind we should post it in the mylot and we could see how many responses are coming for that thing and we would enjoy all these things and so on my dear friend.. if more response are coming for our thoughts means we should think some what differently and again posting and cashing that occasion . and for every new discussion we should give response then only we should got a experiance and we should learn some thing from them and so on . some keep posting each and every thing which is reasonable and watch a response and enjoy

Well I try to respond to every response given to me as much as I can. But there are times or 'those days' that my mind is kinda empty, you know? Those I'm-flipping-bored-days? So I wonder how those myLotters could actually post and start discussions constantly and daily, at that matter. Don't they get tired? Well maybe they're not just as moody and lazy as me, so I find it hard to comprehend them. ^^

Yeah man, so do I, it's hard to find a good one discussion because these all depend on mood you have. I have no idea for the first thing to discuss and lots of much time I spent to think a good one recording my bad mood.

Lately, I have been finding mylot discussions very hard to start. I usually do not have problems starting or engaging in conversation online or off. I have responded to some good discussions lately. I wonder what inspires some discussion posts. I usually post discussions to satisfy curiosities I may have, but I never get too personal. Lately I have been responding to discussions on life, love, and money. I guess people cannot talk about those things enough, but with the discussions I have responded to it has left me all though out I guess. I have really had some deep thoughts about some of the discussions I have participated in. Some of these discussions opened up my heart and mind. I like such discussions. When I did post discussions, it was on subjects like food and mylot itself. Nothing too deep. Hopefully, I will have more discussions to post. I really would like to discuss topics everyone can relate to.
