which makes me very sad because i love the stuff. however, i find that chocolate thickens the mucus in my throat. although not a smoker, i have the start of COPD and i find that this is quite bothersome! is there any food that you love but cannot eat?

Try eating heartier vegetarian food, look at Indian dishes, a majority of the country are vegetarians so many delicious recipes turn up. I found this curry recipe that looks close to the one I make at home. www.squidoo.com/potato-and-cauliflower-curry

I doubt it, I'm so allergic that it is nearly bad enough to call the ambulance! The last time I got into it by accident I was luck enough to have my allergy shots with me, or I wouldn't have been able to drive home!

I know a reason why....because you did eat too much corn before...I think one day you will eat corn back.

First off, I have to say that I'm sorry to hear that you have the beginning of COPD. As far as foods that I love, but cannot eat, there are none of those for me, thankfully. The closest that I've ever had to foods that I couldn't eat was when I was pregnant and you aren't supposed to eat deli meats and cheeses when you are pregnant and that is something that I do really like to eat.

I love chocolate also. I do not eat it much because it will break my skin out pretty bad at times with acne. I miss it alot.

I am very sorry to hear that cher, I don't know how I'd live without chocolate. I can abstain from eating it most of the time, except for once a month....... You know what I mean! As for what I love but can't eat - Pork! I'm pork-intolerant. Not a happy bunny as I love my rashers and pork chops as well as my pepperoni on my pizza.

I'm sorry to hear that. Well that could have been so hard for you to say no on chocolates, those are a pleasure in ones mouth and are so hard to resist . I can't take food with so much caffeine or drinks with caffeine on it. My bone density are somewhat deteriorating and so taking in food not good for the bone will worsen it. I really love to drink coffee as the smell and the taste are so invigorating, softdrinks are so tempting as well. I am such a bad patient and so I do take a little of those, but I know my limitations. I am also drinking my milk which is really not my faves, and my mineral intake of calcium.

that is too had, to not be able to eat what you like. i don't really have that problem, aside from controlling my sweets and carbs intake.

Chocolate also raises bloob pressure and I have high blood pressure so I am not suppposed to eat it! I am sad too! I have a friend who is kumiden ?sp..and she can't eat lettuce or dark green veggies.....I love veggies. That would be harder for me then quitting chocolate!

So sorry to hear you are going thru this. I wish it was brussel sprouts that had that affect on you. Chocolate is too addicting to ever go 100% cold turkey on, though do-able. The only thing that really bothers me is garlic. I don't mind say a lil bit on like say a Tombstone garlic pizza but put in pasta ect in straight form gives me wicked heartburn. I like it but it doesn't like me!

I'm so sorry to hear that! As a fellow chocolate lover, I'd be devastated if I couldn't eat it anymore, even the small amount I allow myself these days. Have you thought about drinking more water if you want to eat some chocolate? Water is notorious for thinning mucus. I always drink water as opposed to orange juice whenever I catch a cold because it really does help. I get a major headache every time I eat tuna salad. I love the stuff and do still eat it but I am always prepared for that headache that always follows. It's not a migraine but sometimes I do have to lie down and close my eyes for awhile. I have no idea what it is that causes me to get a headache but it's tolerable. If I have something important to do, I will turn it down but, if I have nothing special going on I'll eat it then grab the aspirin bottle at the first sign of pain. My oldest son is lactose intolerant. He can't drink milk at all and really limits himself whenever he eats ice cream or cheese. It's milk that gives him the worst symptoms.

so sorry. its something most people love. i never knew it would have any effect on your breathing though. i do know milk does make more mucus. im thinking nuts have some effect on me and i shouldnt eat them. cause every time i do i feel sick to my stomach and get running to the bathroom with my bowels, etc.

I can think of one. I like hotdogs but I have read that it is really not healthy for kids. There is a risk of it containing bad bacteria that may compromise the health of a person. I have a one year old and I do not want to introduce hotdog to her. Thus, we have to discipline ourselves at home and never buy hotdogs anymore. I miss hotdogs. Have a nice day!

(I had to look up COPD - ok - now I know). Do you really have to cut out chocolate entirely?? Would there be a difference between say, the sugary milky milk chocolate and dark chocolate . . . or the expensive stuff vs the cheap stuff? I have no idea if any is better than the other - but I hope you are able to find a way to sneak some in - hee hee. They say carob is a good substitute - but I can't remember if I've ever had that or not. I had gestational diabetes when I had my second child, and they say that women who get that have to watch it as we are considered pre-diabetic for the rest of our lives. So I have to watch sugars/carbs (though honestly I'm not doing it as much as I should be).
