hi, im a student currently studying accountancy on my third year. due to some circumstances, my family cannot support my studies financially. though i had sought support from third parties granting financial assistance, the help im getting, never had seemed to be enough. it was until my second year i started doing tutorials for high school students. it was only the time in my career i have no problems facing academic financial problems. But it was also the time my grades had started fluctuating. my grades are quite high before i started working, my issue now is that, should i continue working, to support myself financially? or should i just focus on studying and find myself starving?

This is a sorry situation for you, I hope you can adjust your working schedule, or take up part time jobs only 3 times a week, you need to focus on your study right now to get a degree, everything can be financially solve, don't waste money on entertainment, smoking or drinking.

Well, it seems that you are already getting a hang of what you are doing. You just need to be adjusted more on your situation and you will get by improving in finding ways working while studying. It is hard to choose between working to support or studying and starve. You both need studies and work in your current situation. So there really is no option for you but to adapt to that kind of life at the moment and improve your situation bit by bit. That is a challenge so do accept it and you will find keeping them up as rewarding. If your grades is failing due to work, I am sure that you will find some ways to be efficient working and studying at the same. Gaining experience doing that each day gives you ideas on how to improve your situation.

Oh, you can keep working and your studying...you are on the third year already and you will graduate soon. Currently your work doesn't need your degree but i think you may need it later. If you give up your studying, you waste 3 years of studying... I think you can do well both as long as you can manage your time well. Best wish for you.....

I choose "WORK". Time management is very important in this case. Like for example, in this semester you can take less subjects and concentrate more on your job; for the next semester you can take full load on your studies and less time in part-time job. Be optimistic in life. I'm sure if you pass all these hardships in life it would really be a GREATEST SUCCESS. Good luck to you.

Could you take a year or a semester off from studies and work? You could build up a savings then use that to support your studies, so you could concentrate on them. It would put finishing up a little farther into the future, but your grades are important.

what a hard decision! i feel so bad for you. are there any government grants that you can get to support you while you study? my daughter is 19 and her dad and i cannot afford to send her to school either but she is hoping that grants and funds will come in from the government to assist her. as for you. maybe you should work and take a little longer in getting your degree.

Maybe you could go to school part-time & work part-time. It may take longer to graduate, but at least you won't go hungry. I'm really sorry that your family can't support your schooling. My parents could've if they'd chosen to, but elected not to... so I'm stuck with some student loans. Good luck to you! :)

You could also try the "no or less sleeping method". I remember when I was studying and working at the same time during my college days. In my desire to keep everything on the right track, there are days that I slept for only two hours in a day just to cope up with my lessons. I remember that I thought to myself, I can sleep more when I finished my studies and have a good job.

Hi newlyaldrin,in my own opinion, you need to continue working to support your study and save yourself from starving. As a working student before time management is very important because it will gives you time to rest, think and time to study. During my college days, I worked as a part time cashier in a supermarket. Same as your situation I needed to work to support my study and to feed my stomach. At first like you my grades was not good like before until I learned how to manage my time, studying during the day and working at night, but I always find a way to study, even if I am working. I understand it is hard to work and study at the same time, but if you focus on your goal everything is possible. Have faith in yourself.

i guess it would be better to work and study at the same time. As long as you can manage a passing grade, it will be well. what is the use of high grades when at the end you can not finish the school year because of financial problems?
