What does making money online mean to you?

Mylotter conversations about making money online has stirred up another question in me. I notice some people are happy to make $100 a month, some are even happy just to make $10 monthly or even less.
At what point do you feel you are "making money" online and do you have any goals with you online ventures?
To me, "making money online" means earning enough money each month to the point where I don't have to get up and go to work anymore. I don't need to be a millionaire to accomplish that. I don't even need to make $100,000 a year to do that. If I can earn a steady $3,000 to add to my existing retirement check, I wouldn't have to work any more. That would be nice.
Cheers,
Stan

My online earning goal is quiet simple: I want to earn $500 monthly with hardly doing anything .
In other word, a passive income. It doesn't need to be an investment. Perhaps I need to work hard to set things up so later in the future they may earn me passively..

Most definitely! Passive income is where it's at, but to be honest with you, you have to spend money to make money. A legitimate passive income program requires a steady income as well to pay it's members. The best programs are those that people need and can use all the time.

I just quit a very high-paying job. Why? Because the everyday stress was almost killing me. Dealing with all sorts of people and problems can take a toll on you. Making money online means that i can set my own hours. I will be happy woth anything between $1500-2000 per month. At least I can set my own hours, and pick and choose what I would like to do.

No doubt you are right as in this sanrio some one making $1 per month and some one $10 and some one $100 or $1000, well all depend upon the hard work, as i seen some members had do hard work in some site to bring that referrer which is really make him rich like in some MBC, JSS site.
but my goal is but earn just retain in that position and slowly and studly increase my online earning, as for those people set goal who is doing online work with legal and paying site and those who just join every site and not known when these site become scam never set the goal for himself.

Stan, you got the very same idea I have about making money online. Making $10 or even $100 is not to make money... I would call it to make a little help :) For me make money means to earn over $500 a month as this would already be a great change and worth to withdraw it to your bank account or credit card.

Jatada, when you get serious about online business, it is always a lose/win situation. The best policy is always invest the money that you can afford to lose and make sure that you recover your intial amount before continuing with investing more money. I have already made around $100 from small online jobs and that what I am using to invest. Camalich have listed a few of those programs.
Camalich, I know you are good in investing online, are you a member of Royalty7. I am planning to invest there but you need to pay $25 for a start. So far I have read good reviews about the website. They pay 7% daily for 30 days then your position expires.

You have an interesting way of view about "money making online"... It sounds so much like passive income.
Well, that's also my view but it changed over the course of my money making online.
Yes, it means for me not getting up to go to work and be under debts because I merely use the money I earned for expenses but it also means that the money I make online will be used to buy myself real things that will generate me income. It means that I have to work for now and later get the results of my labor and never have to pour another set of my sweat and blood again.
For me, making money online is almost the same as Financial Freedom but not in totality since it's only the start of my journey to get rid myself from the rat race where most of us are currently sitting. My efforts for now--online--as a student and unemployed will be only used to build myself the necessary foundations that will help me have a good ground of financial stability in the future. Because in the future, it'll be the money I make online that will buy myself the things in the real world that will generate me a lot of passive income.

You hit the nail on the head SinfulRose! Passive income is the means to achieve my goal. With passive income, I can chose to get up and work online if I want but if I don't want to, I still have income coming in. It does take time and patience to get there though. For now I have both.
Cheers,
Stan

That's great! I wish you well in your journey to escape life's rat race.
I have three things with me that is helping me in my own journey to financial freedom: Decisiveness, Determination and Discipline. So far, I am learning at the same time earning, though it's not much, time, compounding and leverage are my allies along the way so later instead of cents, I am sure that I'll be earning real dollars. And I hope, so do you.
Have a nice day!

Hey Trinale! :)
As for me, I just earn about $10 a month and I am happy with it. Or I can actually say that I am pretty much satisfied with that amount. And I don't aim higher than that. I mean I am a student and so I don't get much time to spend here on Mylot to earn money. Well, right now my holidays are going on and in one or two hours, I respond to enough discussions that can earn me $10 or more in a month. And even after my classes start, I will be able to earn that much. I can actually think of earning more money if I spend more time here on Mylot than I usually do. But that isn't possible, so I just make sure to respond enough that can earn me $10 at least! :)

Very good Sheen! The goal fits your schedule and that's a good thing. What do you do with your earnings? Do you save for a vacation or maybe for holiday gifts for the family or something like that? Or maybe to buy yourself something really nice.
Cheers,
Stan

Well, last time I had withdrawn my money, I had spent them buying things for me, let it be clothes, chocolates and other snacks. :D But this time I'm planning to save my money, so that later on I have a lot of money and then can use that money in a better way. :)

I feel any amount of money that you can earn online is better than nothing. Every online earner would like to earn enough so they would not have to work outside of the home. But this is unrealistic for most, so they settle for whatever amount that they can get.
What most online earners fail to get is that your skill level must be up to par to earn enough money from the internet just like if you are going to your 9 to 5. Unless you were born with a silver spoon in ones mouth you will have to work for whatever you get. There is no get rich schemes out there, "only pie in the sky".

I agree with you Sirnose -- up to a certain point. I don't believe it's every online earner's goal to not have to work outside the home. Just look at the responses so far.
Yes, the average person does have to work for what they earn. I believe the average person with any type of computer skills can earn online. Most people say it's hard. It's not really hard, it's just a long and tedious process.

Stan

I donĀ“t think I could earn the amount you want, so I quit wishing for it. I earn about $100 a month. Where I live, that is not much money, specially if you have to pay for the connection to internet. So I look at it from another point of view. My connection to internet is my only game and my conectionwith the world. I have to pay for it whether I earn online or not. I have a combo that includes phone bill, a "light" cable TV and internet.
I look at those $100 as extra money. I can live frugally with my retirement pension. So that the $100 are saved for a once in a year luxury: traveling for a week or two. I believe that we must all have something that is a luxury, specially if we live on a budget. I chose that.

At present, making money online is only my part time job. I work online because joys more than earning.
I hope that I can earn online enough for life, in order that I mustn't go to this office, but I can't. I don't have any plan for this. I have not just looked for the best plan.
I hope that I can read sharing and experience from Mylotters following your discussions!

I too am a part-time affiliate marketer Tkonlinevn. I'm in the process of building a web site so that I can have it working for me while I'm at my day job. My long term goal is to retire early but I still have time before I can leave the present job. I want to retire early and catch a few more countries before I too old to walk!

i got your point , a steady income is the best solution , yet in such a demanding world when it comes to increasing expenses every day , we come to another question , "how much is enough ?"
I'm a dentist and it pays well , but comes a time when it doesn't pay at ll especially when revolution broke out in my country EGYPT :) YES WE BECAME FREE ,
but finding another source of income or side job became a must!
i tried multiple online stuff , but it didn't pay me well ,or didn't pay at all !!
i too wished to earn enough money enough for me not to get up and go to work
( that tiers me and the income is not fair in return ) but most important is TIME .NO or little time to invest with my family,
2 months ago friend came to me and showed me a presentation for the company he works in and the moment he finished i knew that my life won't be the same again , and i found what i want ..to have my own business ,extra income and reach FINANCIAL FREEDOM !! and have more spare time with my family
this kind of luxury is quit rare today when most people have to travel miles and spend hours on the road just to reach their office ..leaving so early in the morning while kids and dozing Zzz and back late also ,and they are also zzzzzzzzz ,,and the irony here is that people does this for the sake of family while they lose their ties gradually with them !!! , BUT NO MORE MY FRIEND , NO MORE :)))) I FOUND THE WAY FINALLY :)
feel free to add me anybody

Good deal Badwes! Even dentists would like to not have to go into work everyday! "How much is enough?" is a question I ask often when I see millionaires trying to squeeze every penny they can out of regular people. It seems the richer they get, the more they want. I want to be comfortable. I want the financial freedom from having to go to an office, that's all. I'm not greedy!
As for the rebellion, I've been watching it in the news. Democracy is a beautiful thing but it takes a lot of work. Soon Egyptians will know what real freedom feels like.

For me, Money making online is an option. Option to buy something to an online store or companies that gives services. Money making online is only an extra money to add on your monthly salary, in order to add on your current funds and lessen the burden on your bills. It's just like that.

Yes, yes... I've been there too and I'm sure we are not the only one to feel that way. I've been struggling to make any decent money online for years. You need to find something that suits you.
Are you willing to invest money? What do you want to do to make money?
Take action my friend and work for what you want ;)

Hi, I belong to the ones who would just be happy to earn $100 or $200, so I will write from that point of view. It is an extra income and for me that's the way it should stay. I mean I could never imagine giving up a standard job, a steady income and relying on earning money online.
If I were an unemployed i would tell you enough for me would be $3000, if I had a good income from other sources maybe I told $10000!
So I just feel that "making enough money online" depends on many things. Family, other income, free time available, unfullfilled dreams! It is completely subjective.

Hi Dadans! In some countries, $100-$200 monthly can go a long way. Unfortunately, the United States is not one of them. I would be happy with a couple hundred monthly if I didn't have to be on the computer every day for hours and hours. I would just keep reinvesting it until I achieved my personal goal. And you are right, making money online does depend on a lot of variables. Every individual is different and have different desires.
Cheers,
Stan

For me it really means a lot, earning money online even just a little gives me hope that there is always a way to make life easier, all you have to do is to find a way on how to make that small amount becomes big. Another thing why making money online means a lot to me is because in my health condition, I can't and push my self too much. Making money online gives me the option to work in a less amount of time yet earn without doing too complicated tasks or stressing my self thinking.
It does affect my life and health that is why it is very important and means a lot to me.

Hi trinale, like you this is also my wish. I am not wishing for more but just enough to my existing and a little savings for the future. I am hesitant already to invest or spend my own money from my purse after I've been scammed a couple of times. I would appreciate you much if you can share what you've got that makes you a little bit contented in terms of your future online money business...

It also depends on where you live and how much you require,For example, in your case 3000 dollars takes care of your monthly expenditure, whereas in some European countries it may not be sufficient and in a country like India , it is a huge amount which can help you lead a very comfortable life.As far as I am concerned, I too would be happy if I could make $1000 a month which would take care of my expenditure, but it is not easy to reach that target...all the best trinale and have a great day

The amount you mention is not impossible to make, but you have to have a load of articles with high traffic possibilities, and keep on writing. The money here is secondary to me as I am also a novelist and working on my 11th book. It is exciting for me to wake up in the morning, check my sites and see that collectively I have made a dollar or two a day. As you get to have experience writing for different sites you will soon come up with a plan as to which sites you should concentrate on and bust your behind writing for them. Experts Column, MyLot, Knoji are excellent sites to write for. Always make sure you provide inspiration, have good high quality articles, and check your grammar before you post. I am amazed by some of the writing on these sites where there is bad grammar and punctuation.
