Malaysia
June 2, 2012 3:41pm CST
Last time it was her wrist that needed operation, now on the same hand, she broke again, I am sad today I saw her crying for help, we send her to the hospital and operation will be done in next 2-3 weeks. I did not have any money for her that is why I am sad, dad figure it out for the sum, maybe he will borrow from his friend, brother came back just now to see her, I hope she is getting better, she is staying at home now because she don't like the hospital, so she is going to the hospital earlier few days before the operation date. Please pray that mother is safe.

Ya doctor said she has bone fractures, and now we don't need the operation just the observation from doctor and medication too. I hope she will recover in no time.

Then she just have to rest and be careful not to re-injure her fractured bones and I guess in around 1-2 months she'll be ok.

I am sorry to hear your mom hurt. I understand your feeling since you can't help her money but you can be around her whenever she needs. I hope your dad can have enough money for her operation too. However, it is a chance for your family member can be together and pass through it. Best wish for your mom.

Next time, you wont allow your mom to do like that because the elder people' bones are brittle so that it is not good when they fall down and they may get a dangerous situation also.

So sad to hear that. How old is your mother? We women usually when we reach menopausal our bones become brittle and when injured, recovery is very slow. My mother broke her shoulder bone too when she stumbled while running. The doctors decided not to open it up because they said that it would just heal naturally though not as fast as when she is younger. She was in her late forties at that time. The doctors just let her wear a brace or an elastic bandage i think and thank God it healed. When she was in her fifties she again slipped and she broke her forearm. The bone called the tibia went out of her skin, it was an open fracture, so she had to be operated on to put the bone back in place. The orthopedic surgeon put 2 metal strips as long as her tibia (bone of the forearm) inside her forearm. Up to now it is still there. We don't have enough money for the operation also at that time but we requested assistance from the Social Welfare plus the benefit from my health insurance. Luckily, we were able to pay for her hospital bills. Why don't you try asking help too from government or private agencies providing similar assistance.

Yeah, your mother case is similar with mine, however she broke her wrist too last time, not forearm, I felt very pity and sorry for her, she was my only mum, I even cried that Saturday when she is screaming for help when doctor pull back her bone in place, yes she has fractures and now we don't need operation, doctor said the bones will grow back and we need to have calcium supplement then everyday, luckily we don't need the operation now, so dad will be easier financially, but I had to remind mum not to climb up to clean the kitchen's windows anymore. She is at 50 when she broke her wrist and 52 when she broke her shoulder bone.

Yeah...she is alright now, staying at home, I am keeping an eye of her and took care of the house work, doctor said no need operation since the bone can grows, so we need to let it grow in 6 weeks time, for that we just bought a calcium supplement for her to drink everyday, she has been gaining weight and feels better on her hand.

Things will work out in the end... My dad went in the hospital for a week no insurance cause the place he worked at went out of business and bankrupt. They had 29,000 in medical bills. They decided to sell their house to pay it off. Sucks but it had to be done. I wish I was rich enough to pay for it rather than having them sell their house. More important then money is your moms health and praying for a speedy recovery.

I do hope she gets the care she needs and is able to heal from injury. This is so important. Families and freinds that need each other is so wonderful though the pain people suffer is so sad. I pray much good comes out from this illness/healing for you, your mother and all those in connection.

My relatives doesn't know about this, if they do, they also refuse to help coz we are not that close as before already. Hopefully dad can manage some money to help mother to buy calcium supplements and transport money to the hospital during these times, meanwhile doctor said operation can be abide because bone grows in 6 weeks then her hand can do exercise already after they open up the cement.

We are planning to buy but because it burdens my father for so many bills come in every month, so we need to be patient with the money we have, use it wisely before it finish. We just need to take care of ourselves everyday, friend
