Wish I had gotten what my daughter ordered. We went to Sizzler lastnight for my grandson's graduation dinner. I got my usual Salmon, baked potato and sauteed mushrooms. My daughter got the Fisherman's Plattter. It looked so good when it was served. About seven or eight screwered buttered shrimp, seven lightly breaded butterflied shrimp, and a huge piece of lightly breaded fish. Not sure what kind. I wish I had ordered that. It sure looked good. I am a big fan of shrimp. So, have you ever ordered something and then wished you had gotten something else?

Hi Celtic, There is only one time that I can remember this happening. A friend and I went out to eat at OliveGarden and I ordered this chicken parmesean. This meal was not worth the 16.00 that it was priced. She ordered this steak pasta thing with spinach and mushrooms onions steak, a white sause and linguine noodles. It was soooo much better than mine.!!

I have heard Olve Garden is like eating airplane food. Bland and tasteless.

Yes, sometimes I've done that. That is how I learn what to order in the future. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. We took my stepsister out to lunch today to celebrate her recent high school graduation. I hope you are having a great weekend.

That sounds like a nice lunch... they deserve a little celebration. He's such a poop most of the time we have to take the good where we can.

I do that all the time, because I really want it all. Yours sounds really good to me, though.

It was good too. Grilled and none of those weird sauces they put on them sometimes. I like mustard on mine.

I did many times like that when i have meals with friends. After ordering, i see my friends' order look better than mine and i desire their order...but i have no choice, just have to eat my order... However, my friends are very nice, they often share me a bit their menu...

Sure, more than likely I have. I like Salmon OK, but would have ordered the Fisherman's Platter too if I had known what it all entailed. I am a big shrimp lover at times, I couldn't eat it more than 2 x a month if that but I do like it. I haven't had it in so long though. Maybe I should order it the next time I get Chinese food. Congrats to your Grandson by the way and his graduation!

Another shrimp lover, eh? We used to get some jumbo shrimp, crab legs and a lobster if we had the $$$$ bring it home and steam it all. Make up some garlic buter and cut some french bread and make a salad and we were in Hog Heaven. So good! I can usually try some of my kids too like you said.

Also when my relatives in FL eat out, they always try something of each other's food to get a taste of what everything is like, in case they want to order it the next time.

yes lots of times, but my man and I will sample each others dishes so it is not so bad I do get a taste anyhow.

When we lived in California we'd go to the Sizzler. But in Oklahoma we don't have a Sizzler, we have something like it, called Western Sizzlin. I love Western Sizzlin. I haven't been to a state with a Sizzler in forever.

All the time, and it's usually when I order my regular. Someone order's something else then what they usually get, and I look at it going "man I wish I had some of that!". Next time I usaully try to get the other thing, but I usually end up getting my usual yet again!

Food-trip - Eating this food for the first time ever.
Yes that happened to me. But now I know how to avoid that. My son knows how to get the best order. He knows the best food in town. He is actually fond of food-tripping so whenever we go out to try restaurants for the first time I would ask him for suggestions to avoid regretting.

Oh yes...many times..lol. I usually stick to what I know and love when I go to a restaurant and that has kind of worked both ways for me. Now and again I'll venture away from my beloved Ribeye..lol. I have wished that I have gotten something else sometimes once I see it come out to the table though.

Yup. Sometimes I think that it normally happens. That's why sometimes it's good to be good friends or family with the one you're dining out with so that you can share a piece or so. Or maybe you can also ask the waiter on what's the best-sellers of the house before ordering.

Hi Celticeagle! I hear ya. I love Red Lobster but haven't been since my vacation in Lake George, NY last August at my brother's. I ordered a combination chicken pilaf and sea food. My brother got a steak and seafood platter with fried shrimp and crab legs. I had wished that I had that one. The food was to die for! It was expensive but well worth it. It's been over a decade since I've been at a Sizzler. We used to go to Dillard Georgia to the Western Sizzler there. You always had to be seated by the hostess. I loved the whole ambiance.

Hi PQ! Can't afford Red Lobster very often. When I go there we get the Fish Platter. Has crab, shrimp and lobster. Yum! Sometimes its too salty but usual is to die for! We used to have some very nice restaurants here and when my ex made some good money he would take me to one. Those were the days!

I normally end up wishing I had gotten what someone else at my table ordered. Either my fiance or my daughter. I know what you mean.
