How do you feel about reality television?

I am a reality show junkie. Every time a new reality show comes out I am all over it. My favorite shows are. Big Brother, American Idol, X Factor, Duets, The Voice, Tough Love, and Project Runway. I also love those antique shows like Pickers and Storage Wars. I think I watch more reality TV than fictional TV right now, but I'm also thinking people might be starting to get bored of the whole reality TV fad. What are your thoughts on reality TV people.

I hate 90% of it. It is not real, it still has scripts and shows keep getting exposed as not being real all of the time.
I do not mind diy or cooking shows; because, they actually show you how to accomplish something.
But, it is such a shame that people have to live vicariously through these "reality shows"; because, they have NO LIFE OF THEIR OWN. They simply FAKE showing what other people are doing with their lives while everyone else wishes that could be them.

What shows have been exposed as scripted? Will any of you be following Hell's Kitchen?

"Reality" shows tha thave been exposed as being staged and scripted -
Storage Hunters
Ghost Hunters
Operation Repo
Pawn Stars
Jersey Shores
The Hills
The Bachelor
The Pick-up Artist
Cake Boss
Joe Millionaire
Crossing Over With John Edwards
Keeping Up With The Kardashians
Jerry Springer Show
WWE Smackdown (actually ALL WWE events are not only staged and scripted, they are choreographed and the moves are practiced before the "event")
There are others; but, I have probably popped enough bubbles already. Also, there are always a FEW that are not faked (at least in the beginning) and others that are faked; but, have not been caught and exposed yet.

I have nothing against reality TV. It's just that I don't really watch TV much in general. The only reality TV show I enjoy is American Idol. Now that it's over, I'll probably just wait until next season's audition starts. Other times, I watch sports on TV.

You don't like any of the other singing competitions on TV? I think sporsts counts as reality TV too. LOL.

I don't much care for it anymore. When it first came out I watched a few things like Survivor and Dancing with the Stars but now they have been become just the same old thing and some shows are more scripted than anything else. There are just too many of them, also. Now the CW has added two more recently.

There are a lot of them, I'm waiting for a new one called the Glass House. It sounds like it could be good.

They're all my faves too. I watch the same ones you mentioned more or less. I can't watch them all though cause I have to share the TV with others who don't like them all, but the ones I don't watch are Project Runway, Tough Love ( what is that one about?), and I didn't care for Duets much although I only saw around ten-fifteen minutes of it. Pickers is OK and Storage Wars when it's not repeats. I think they are OK in small doses, but I couldn't watch a whole day of Pawn Stars or Storage for hours. Some of it isn't that real at all, of course. I'm not bored with it, I'm bored with the silly sitcoms and other police dramas, that I have seen all through childhood, and then some.

Duets is awesome. I have actually watched a whole day of Storage Wars. I get so mad when they hit those jackpot lockers. I still make time for Bones and Criminal Minds. Tough Love is awesome if you are into match maker shows.

I don't care for reality tv shows one way or the other as I don't really watch much tv at all. I'd rather read a book, do a craft or play on the computer. TV just isn't my thing I guess.

Believe it or not, I rarely watch the TV anymore. I catch all my shows online. The internet I think will replace all TVs in a matter of years. I love to read myself. I've mastered the art of reading, typing and watching TV all at the same time. LOL.

I certainly hope that doesn't happen as I like to watch movies streamed from Netflix to my televisions, pout. I also multitask ha ha. You get more done that way. It all started with the real world for me. I also like storage wars and pickers. I liked little people big world. A favorite of mine, we used to live down the road from them. I also loved John and Kate plus 8 when they were on and then of course just Kate plus 8 ha ha. Nick and Jessica, Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares, all the housewives in all cities except Washington.
When they were on I liked Airline, the making of the Dallas cowboys cheerleaders, The Osbourne's, Kathy Griffins my life on the d list, the simple life, dog the bounty hunter and all the makeover kinds. Now I never miss a Bethenny ever after episode. Even though I still like fiction shows like weeds and shameless, I still have a love for the reality shows. I'll even watch a Kardashian episode from time to time.

Its funny that you say that, I've been feeling like that too. Especially the spin offs, its just a bunch of bad acting.

Oh yea! I love American Idol and the X-Factor! Reality T.V shows are the one thing that I can enjoy easily and thoroughly. Television Dramas and comdey shows are just so 'scripted' and 'fake' that it remains no longer fun when you realize that maybe the character could have responded with a funnier dialouge, because everything has been pre-set. But with reality T.V, everything is fresh and live, and anything is possible. Also, noticing the reactions of people who are on Reality T.V is much more refreshing than seeing a rehearsed hand movement, or a practiced grin. I personally believe that it just takes the fun out of watching T.V for me.
Speaking of which, did you know that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are the new judges on X-Factor this season?

Yes although i don't think Britney will be lasting too long, since she has resorted to acting like a diva. Apparently she has walked out of auditions for the show at least twice, and she is already making headlines. Maybe its just for publicity, but after watching the show Duets I dont think I will be able to tolerate judges who dont want to criticze performances and make the show all about them.
