With the invention of the internet something huge happened for humanity. People from all over the world are now able to communicate faster than ever before. We once needed to vote representatives to help make laws for the land, but couldn't we as people vote for these laws ourselves and do away with the legislative branch of our government.

These same people have the right to vote for their elected officials, and would you rather they consolidate their votes into one powerful entity or give each of them a say. The fact is the majority would win out on each decision, so their is a good chance that level headed people would win out over the fanatic, and even if they didn't we'd still have an interesting society free from political corruption.

It is an interesting idea to think that the massive communication possible now with the internet could be used to make the laws of the land. I am not so certain that it will work since most people will focus on the decisions that better them. The idea of the elected representatives is that they would carefully analyze every issue they consider and then make the best decision. First of all, it must be a decision that is for the good of the country - both now and in the future. Secondly, the decision must try to avoide helping one group of people at the expense of another group.
There is no doubt that the U.S. Congress fails at this task daily, and our elected officials make decisions based on getting themselves re-elected. What a sick game it has become!

Without a specific example to discuss it is hard to know for sure, but I think there will be times where the majority decision will be at the expense of the people in the minority. Depending on the issue that might not be a good thing. The minority side of the situation will have trouble accepting such decisions. Government leaders are supposed to be smart enough to know where there power ends and to not cross that line. Unfortunately, current leaders do not buy into this.

I fully count on everyone voting whats best for them in a vote like this, because then you would have a true representation of whats best for the people. The laws would benefit the majority every time.

Thats how it is now, but in this case the rich minority always wins, only those people who can afford to throw money at the politician get their laws passed.

Yes of course we do. Because the human species as a thinking creature can do so many things and without laws governing us we would rather fall back to being barbarians. But the problem with those in power who govern us is they have no one to check them. Therefore the laws only apply to us and in some way they are above it. Which means they can break their own laws. We do not know what these people are doing behind their private doors. So government is in so many ways the same as religion. We have to have faith in those that govern us. I cannot imagine yet if there will a time when we will have no need for government, as we are far from evolving into the perfect human specie. We are only good because there is a law and some kind of punishment if we violate the rules. If we get past that phase of our humanity then we will have no need for any governing body. Einstein once said, "If we are only good because there is some form of punishment then we are sorry lot indeed". But that would be saying too much for the human race. We are based on the configuration that we have leaders. The basic foundation of leadership starts from the basic unit in society. The family leader is of course the father or mother whichever the case may be or whoever has the say in that small unit. So in conclusion we have not gone past that point of configuration where we do not need government. Let's see in a hundred years or so.

About the voting thing. We would all need to have the same degree of knowledge how to make laws like those in the governing body. We as everyday humans living and interacting in society play our part. We have this people to do things for us while we go about our daily mundane lives. So we vote for laws and for those to hold office in government. But that's where the problem is, in a democracy we have the right to vote for the next dictator. hehe. How would some dude in New York know anything about some guy in Texas to vote for him as President. So we all leave it to faith. The candidate's campaign team work overtime to fluff the candidate and make him look good. In the process we may fail to see what he truly is. When he is elected. It's a sink or swim thing for us if we voted for the right person or not. Unless someone thinks of a better system. Let us know.

I'm not suggesting we do away with government, I'm suggesting we take the power out of the corrupt officials hands and place it in the hands of the people. The people dont need to understand how to make the laws. they just need to know how a proposed law effects them. I think this would pass law that would benefit society rather than rich special interest groups that throw money at our politicians.

Unfortunately, yes, we do, and that is really a shame that we still to, but the governments of the world do tend to hold some semblance of order together. Even if said semblance of order has the actual durability of chewing gum holding it over. Perhaps one day, we might be able to scale back the governments to the barest minimum to succeed.
Of course, in the end, someone has to be in control, and really, I don't think those who have the control right now are going to give things up any time soon. Power is an intoxicating thing, that has allowed many people to really just to run away with it and really get themselves right into quite the situation. I think that direct voting is a nice idea, but in the back of my mind, it also could be a disaster waiting to happen. Seems like were stuck with the corrupt governments for the time being.

It's a shame that we are so used to having government run things for us, that people would rather put their faith in a corrupt politician, than trust their own instincts. The technology is here that we can all have a say in how things should be, now we as a people need to believe in our selves to make it possible.

We don't need the government for that anymore, also it doesn't matter what you vote today either. The goverments world wide decide what they do, if the elections do count (are able to change the outcome as well or say they don't care about what the people want). They fool us by telling us our economic is doing well, each year again the same lies about saving now a bit and in a few years we get our money back or have a better future, they manipulate the people by telling them it's a better future for our kids but at the same time they don't like kids. We have to help worldwide which is a lost case but nobody cares about us. We don't need the government. The government needs us. To lay hands on our money in a very easy way, to get richer themselves, they are there for their own glory. All the countries worldwide are so connected there is no way out, no way to do it your way. I hope we all will go bankrupt soon so we all can make a brand new start. Starting with our own country and people first. If you want to change the world you have to start with yourself. So the Mayan are right... the world as we know it will end soon.

Think about it, if we put the legislative power in the hands of the people,, corrupt politicians wouldn't exist anymore. It would be the ultimate democratic process. A true government that represented the people.

us humans are not perfect, so that means we make a lot of bad choices. I couldn't imagine how much more our world would be messed up if we let users online make the laws of the lands world wide. I don't even believe that the governments around the world are doing their job correctly. been they can't, cause of them not being perfect either. So we just have to wait till God steps in to stop this mess going on world wide.

I think is someone propose a law, the should first garner some support from other people, so the first step would be an online petition, then if they gained enough support, it could be put up to a vote. I'm not suggesting people make rules for their world, because unless you live in a certain area you can't understand how those people live, but the laws could be made for certain areas this way.
