Update on the bad tasting bread

I called the number on the bread today to talk to customer service at Nature's Own bread products. The man was very glad to hear from me and said he knew the exact taste I was referring to. He said it is most likely a wild yeast that reacted badly with the bread or it could have been pre mold. He said it's not really a chemical but most likely one of those things he mentioned. However, the good news is he is preparing a goody bag for me. He asked me what ither Nature's Own products I like and I said I love the honey wheat. He said I'll get that and some other goodies. So the man from the company is coming to pick up the bread so it can go for testing. Hexwill trade me the goody bag for the bad bread. I live it that they are really interested in customer service. I didn't even get a robot. I got a real person on the first ring.
I'm glad I mentioned ir before and people said to return the bread. I think it's great that someone is coming to get the bread.
Your thoughts?

Dear Sally
I have not read the earlier, i am back home today from the Pilgrimage, here we don't bake breads/cakes like you, but make roti, parathaa etc on pans, this is made from wheat flour, the flour we buy is made from 'sarwati' wheat, the best and costliest, if there is dust, dirt found we get replacement with 10% extra..

Oh yes, no yeast needed, you can make stuffed paratthaa, by placing meshed potato or similar thing.

That kind of sounds like our Pita bread. We can stuff it with stuff and it is sooooo good!

Wow, that definitely says a lot for the company. It's great that they cared enough to personally come to your house, pick up the bread, and give you a goody bag for your troubles. It never hurts to contact the company if you have some sort of issue or comment and want to either ask a question or voice how you feel.
That's happened to my mom and I twice at restaurants. WE went to Olive Garden and our entire meal seemed to be somewhat stale. The bread was going stale, the salad wasn't fresh, and even our entrees seemed as if they were out sitting a while before being brought to our table. My mom emailed the customer service and we ended up getting a giftcard as a refund that covered our entire bill. The same thing happened to me at a Chili's I go to all the time. It was hands-down the worst service I've had not only there, but at any restaurant. I'm usually not one to complain, I just want to let someone know how I feel so they have an idea of what's going on.

It's one of my favorite restaurants!! I'm sure companies are grateful when customers call and let them know how their product or service is, bad or good. Feedback is very useful to them. It's also nice that they kind of reward you for contacting them

That's great that your mom did that. I think the companies and restaurants need to know when their product or service is less than expected. I love Chili's... I've only had the chicken wing platter.. it's like an appetizer for the table but I ordered it as a meal... yummy!

Wow!! Glad to hear you got Good customer service like this, and they are going to replace your Bread and give you a Goody bag to boot. You will have to let us know what is in that bag. It is not often you get this type of Good customer service anymore, so this is a Company that really cares about their business, and will do anything to satisfy their customers.

They haven't come yet, Tina. I'm expecting them on Monday since they didn't come today. I'll make a discussion about it when they do get the bread. They want to take it to the lab and have it tested. The man said he thinks he knows what that taste is because he has tasted it before... he said he thinks it is wild yeast that has reacted badly with the product. He said it could also be pre mold.

Companies that want to stay in business do provide good customer service, but I admit that is more than I expected from a phone call. I figured they would apologize, offer you your money back and some coupons for some other free products. I think you should tweet this when it happens or some other good press for them. They also need to know what is going wrong in their supply chain because of so many food based illnesses that have occurred in recent years.

Yep, they are going to take the bread to the lab to be tested for what that taste is. I don't think it is bacteria or anything because I'm not sick. He said it was probably wild yeast reacting badly with the product or pre mold.. he said he has tasted exactly what I'm talking about before. He said it tastes like a chemical but it's not a chemical... but to be sure they are going to test it. I'm glad I'm getting a goody bag. I'll let you know what I get when I get it.

Wow! You lucked out there. I've made complaints about bad product to poor customer service before and the most I've received was a coupon for free product once. I usually contact the companies online though. I didn't think about calling them. I buy Nature's Own too. Will be looking forward to your followup.

I guess he will come Monday. We were looking for him this morning, but he might not have had the time or was near us today. The main office said Friday or Monday... So I hope by Monday they come and do what they said they will do. If they don't come Monday I will call them again. They want the bread so they can test it, so I hope the guy comes. I think he is the regular route man who will swing by us.

He's coming now Amber. I'm waiting on him. He said it would be 15 minutes but it's already been that. I'm anxious to see what's in the goody bag! I'll let you know when I see it!

That's great.
I once found a woody bit in a can of chilli so sent it off to the manufacturer and asked what it was doing in my chilli. They wrote back that it was a piece of onion stem... and included 6 coupons for free cans of it. I love free food, don't you?

Hi Bar,
Yes I love free food and coupons for free food. I used to get free bread, bagels and sometimes dairy products when I volunteered with a food ministry. If the food wasn't all gone when the line ran out we got to divide what was left. Sometimes I brought home 5 or more bags of bagels and bread. I loved it. It was no good to keep till the next week.

Hi PointlessQuestions, Often all we have to do is make the call, as such companies always want their customers to be satisfied, it's good for their business. I admit it's unusual to get a real person on the first ring but I'm happy that you did and that they are coming to pick up the bread and you are getting something in return. My wife has had that happen with her as well but not with bread and it's all been done through the mail. Companies are often happy to help if we ask. Blessings.

Hi Pose. He came and picked yp the bread. He picked up the bread abd brought me 2 fresh loaves and two boxes of boneybuns. There are 6 honey buns in each box. I was very pleased that they went to so much effort to make it good for me.

I am glad to hear that this company has good customer service and seems to care about the product. I know that back in Dark Ages there was a mold from a certain type of bread that caused hallucinations and so forth. Researchers think that this may be a reason for the strange goings ons that started the Witch Trials in Europe and Salem. Mold can do weird things. This company really needs to be careful.

Yep, it is. If I ever get something else that isn't good I'll also complain. This is my first time doing it... and in this economy where money doesn't go very far, every dollar I spend counts. I love your name. FrugalMommy... that's tells a lot about about you. I should take lessons.

It seems to me that the organization values their customer and their product a lot. Some would just give you a sorry or even ignore you. Customer services is essential for an organization that is seeking to position itself with great images, identity and reputation. Those that ignore satisfying their customers will soon face the consequences which will definitely affect the growth and sustainability of the organization.

Wow, where can I find this type of store? I'd love to see the Customer's Service like that in Dominicks', but I suppose I won't get that for some time. I would understand however, if the bread you say is "High quality". In any case, Wow, that's pretty awesome.

It's not a store. It's the company that makes the bread. I talked to their customer service. I'm excited that they are replacing my bread and even more.

Nature's Own is a great company and they want to keep their good reputation. They don't want their customers to be unhappy and not buy their products anymore. I may not buy white wheat again, but I will continue to buy the honey wheat that I like so much. I usually like the white wheat.. it's been a few years since I've eaten it.. this was bad though... it had a faint taste of something bad.

I'm glad that you have that kind of store that you can return and replace it. It's bad when I bought something and only to put it on the garbage it's a waste of money. But I never done it before to return a food from where I bought it. Some defective electronic stuff that has a warranty I normally bring it to the center. I hope all shops are the one you have it there.

It's great when you get a perk persay from a product that was not up to quality standards. Some companies are willing to bend over backwards to make sure you are a happy customer, if you are not they will find a way to make you happy. Afterall, most people only discuss the bad things and it spreads like wildfire compared to the good things in our daily lives.
