I really need to start meditation. I am fed up with daily stress, thinking of problems in life all the time, fighting and arguing pointless :/ that all sucked me..i feel like i am trapped. A long time has been passed without doing anything creative or thoughtful. Its getting compulsory to control all this destructive behavior of mine as it is affecting my life, relations and everything... Someone suggested me, i should start with only concentrating on my breath until i make a routine for it or until i learn some specific method.

Hi Maury, There are classes on meditation but it can also be self-taught. I would suggest going to your library and taking out some books on transcendental meditation. There are also breathing exercises that will help you to calm down and relax. It takes a lot of practice and patience. It sounds like you may have an anger issue??? not sure. I think councelling would help but not sure if that is an option for you. I know it can be costly. Go to the library.

Hi Sid, you are absolutely right, i have anger issue, its being just out of control and i am really scared of all this. I am being more and more aggressive day by day, I found unable to stop thinking about negative issues of past. I know the problems' roots and have an idea about solution too, i also know its all up to me but just sometimes i feel helpless..I thought many times for counselling also but didn't get any clue where to go for it..I have no friends here around me with whom i can spend a really good time to remember. I am really surrounded with people who criticize and try to let me down all the time, perhaps it just crossed the limit to which i could tolerate.

sounds as if the people around you are the nes that are grating on your nerves. My solution would be to avoid those that really bring on the stess. My ex-husband had anger issues and as a result, I got councelling which was then based on my income. With all the government cutbacks, I'm not even sure they offer that anymore. Sounds to me as if you are mainly just frustrated to the max. Are you able to avoid those that are constantly putting you down?

Hi there... I think all of the suggestions given in your discussion are very good. I really hope you have begun acting on them. I am also having a pretty stressful job with deadlines. I would like to start meditating myself. But, I am a little anxious about a coupla things - consistency & discipline... Once I do decide on starting meditation, I really hope I can continue it.... Do let me know how are you doing with your meditation regime & what you've been taught (if ur going for meditation classes)... Thanks...

Hi, You can start meditating by concentrating on your breath. Focus on how your breath goes in and out. When you master it.. soon, maybe you can focus on some objects to concentrate to. But, however, I think the best thing to concentrate to is to focus on breath.

Well first you need some free time to meditate. Also there could be some meditation classes in your town. Or at least yoga which is also kind of meditation. Also can find some friends. However if you don't have any in your town or just don't want going to that kind of classes than you can try search for some types in the net. It can be difficult in the start but with practice you will make it!

Start in your room? Then if it is silent there's no problem at all. We are facing the same situation here. I also like to meditate and give myself a break. But still all of my crazy schedules are killing me. :(

hey, its easy to start meditating . you just need a peaceful atmosphere, and flat surface to sit . just sit and start repeating a word or some in your mind. i suggest that you should sit on ground or the not very soft surface .

Hi, First thing is try to cultivate a positive attitude towards life. I don’t think so we can find anyone who has no worries in life and if you keep on thinking only about your problems, they will be there till you find solutions for them. Meditation is one of the best ways to be focused on life and help you develop concentration. To start with you may try the OM Therapy. This is reciting OM with closed ears and eyes sitting in a quiet place to relieve your stress. OM symbolizes goodness, power, meditation or respect. The note I got is by chanting OM or AUM, we get a relaxed body, a balanced hormonal system, a youthful look, helps increase concentration among children. A regular practice helps you to control your nerves as well. Say it loud and experience its positive vibrations. You may also take a course on ‘Art of Living’ in your city. Take care and Ctrl your temper... Keep smiling. & welcome to mylot.

Whosoever has suggested you to concentrate on your breathes is right. But if you find it difficult, then I am suggesting you an easier method.Just sit comfortably and concentrate on your thoughts.Watch what type of thoughts come to your mind.If thoughts of disappointment or worry or fear or other negative emotions come to your mind, then don't check them.Don't try to stop or change or resist them. But don't let yourself get swayed away by them either.Just keep watching them.Keep watching all types of your thoughts;both good and bad, positive and negative.Just keep watching them without letting yourself being affected by them.Gradually you will succeed in making your mind calm and quiet and your creativity will increase manifold.
