Hello there fellas!
I'm kinda bored right now and I'd like to read some good new novels but I don't know how can I find one that would really entertain me.
So I'm here to hear some stuffs from myLotters who likes reading novels. I am wondering how you find new books to read, do you visit the bookstore and just choose what's available there that seems to have piqued your interest? Do you do some research first to find what's hot? Or do your friends suggest them to you?
There are people who are fanatic, and I think they really wait for their favorite authors to release new stories. But I'm not really like that, I think I don't even have a favorite author 'coz I just buy random books from the bookstore or just donwload ebooks that's in the category of my interests.
How about you? How did you find the books you've read so far?

I'm reading an interesting eBook called Chronicles of the AntiHero. Its pretty good and I discovered it on a list of free eBooks for the Kindle. I choose my books by finding a good book cover to attract my eyes. Then I read the summary and if its interesting I will buy it.

Just download the Kindle App to your computer. It's awesome,

I guess that's cool, I didn't know that there's an App available for computer, but as cool as it is I don't think I'll survive reading novel solely in the computer. Wide screens makes me dizzy that's why I like it better to read in my mobile. Thanks for the informative response anyway. :D It helped a lot. :D

That's what I do too, I'd download an ebook version and if I liked it I would buy the paper book. ^^ Hmm...I hope there are other ebook version than the kindle for the book you recommended, I don't have a kindle reader. I only read ebooks through my mobile and sometimes in the computer.

"I feel the need...the need to read"!
Ebook readers (I have a kindle) and their supporting websites make it easy to search and find new books and authors to read..you can check out the reviews and listings of the top bestsellers, you can browse free books,or check the out of copyright books..If I've enjoyed a book,I'd look for others from the same author as a place to start..it doesn't mean another book by them won't be a turkey, but the more they're published, the better..I still like the idea of having friends who still read real books and would pass them on so I can check them out..I read 2 of the 3 "Girl with the Dragon tattoo" books that way,and then bought the trilogy for the kindle to complete the set..

With that last comment,I wanted to add that the one disadvantage of the kindle (and ebooks in general) for me is that I no longer have the option to SHARE a book with someone else-they're selfish gadgets!

The other side of the book sharing thing is,sometimes you'd share a favourite book you particularly enjoyed with someone, and it doesn't come back to you!

Yeah...that sounds kinda selfish indeed. ^^ Sharing or exchanging books with friends is actually one of the reason I enjoy reading so much, because through books, I could form a better bond with my friends. We share our thoughts and views in particulars scenes and stories and it helps us understand each other more. I've see that book online when I'm looking for good reads...I guess I shall add that in my list, and it seems like my list would go on forever! There are so many books to read but so little time...:((

Hi jhustinian, reading book is a good way to entertain your self. With the rapid develpmenmt of society, more and more entertainment we can choose, more and more people spent time in the fashionable party or some other chanllengable activities.I aslo have not read book for a long time. The book I last read is named ''Meet with one inside yourself".It is written by Taiwan writer Zhang Defen,it is a psychology novel.
I will download ebooks if I need,it seems that I am too lazy to go to the booksore.

Oooh..the novel sounds cool! I've always been a fan of psychological movies and I haven't tried reading a novel with the same genre, I guess I'll add this on my list. Thank you so much!
Yeah, going to bookstore could get troublesome sometimes especially if there's a lot of people in there, you couldn't go to the shelves you wanted. ^^ I like reading ebooks very much as well. :D

hi jhustianian! i don't know what your usual choice is, but i am a big fan of history, mystery and suspense novels...all that has been folded into one in the novels of charles todd...his series about scotland yard's inspector ian rutledge, a shell-shocked world war one veteran who is haunted by a soldier he killed are riveting...in every novel, inspector rutledge solves mysteries and learns to live with himself and others...these books are really interesting as i did not know a lot about world war one and they encouraged me to find out more...i also like books by patricia cornwell, p.d. james, agatha christie, and ruth rendell...i am currently reading a book by garrison keillor...it is good that when it comes to reading the choices are endless! happy reading!

I read everything and anything I guess, my door is always open for all genres, but I must say I love reading mystery and suspense as well. I've already read Sherlock Holmes and Phantom of the Opera, but I'm more in love with the former. ^^ I really like history too in high school but I've never tried reading a novel with that theme.

Hello :)
Mostly, finding new books, when it comes to me is by friends or just people on the internet. I'm visiting online bookstores where I can freely reserch - unfortunatelly not touch a book, but yeah - read description and commenst of other people who already read it. Sometimes while 'surfing' on the internet I just spot site where someone recommend book, or I will find movie that was based on a book and if I'd like movie then I'd probably like a book too. There are also a lot of sites where people talk about books and there is one that even gives recommendations based on what you already read (which is amazing). I'm talking about books a lot, so - also - a lot of books that I read comes from talking with my friends/family or people who I met, when you will meet book geek and you are also one your conversation will be filled with new titles. Some of the books I read was one I got from my friends for birhtday or other occasion, because when all knows that 'when you want to get me something I'd like for sure then buy book' they will rather do it that buy me thing that they are not sure I'd like, and as I never told them what kind of books I like to read they buying me one they liked or they think I would appreciate, and that is aslo a good way to find really amazing stuff :)

You're lucky, it sure is great to have friends and family who loves reading just as much as you do. I don't really have friends who like reading the same way I do, I think I'm really the only one who likes reading novels in my circle of friends in college, that really sucks you know. Yeah, I read some recommendations too and I even search sometimes for good reads for young adult but nothing had really made be catch my breath when reading it, if you know what I mean. ;}
Are you a member of any site where they recommend books by basing on what you've already read like you told me? Because I'd like to try it.
Most of the time when I've seen a movie, I'd research about it to find whether it's based on a book or not, because often than not I prefer reading the book version. ^^

Yeah, I happy about it, and it's not good that you don't have anyone you can share your book love with.
I know what you mean exactly, that is why I hate 'what is your favourite book' question, it's smiply because I really can't tell, I think I don't have one, and I read a lot, as you wrote, nothing 'catched my breath' in a way I'd like to say "yes, this is my favourite'
I will send you massage with adress to the site, I think you could like this one :) (don't want to fuss around here you know :))
Sometimes when someone recommend me movie I like to know if it is based on a story so I can read the book first *nods*

Yeah, it's kinda lonely sometimes but oh well, they really don't have the same quirks as me anyway, except maybe finding it troublesome to make a fuss of such stupid and simple things. (We've never had fight before and it's cool, they're very comfortable to be with.) ^^
Yeah I totally agree with the last 2 sentences. ^^

Hi jhustinian! I actually went to 2 book shops this evening and yesterday afternoon. I got 2 books yesterday and 2 today. If you're into novels and if you haven't read John Grisham's books, I suggest you read The Pelican Brief or any of his books. Dan Brown's books are also entertaining. They're all page turner like Paulo Coelho's books. These days, I am hooked with Robert Kiyosaki's books and Bo Sanchez books. =)

Ah, I don't shop books very often. I only get the chance to buy books when I earn some good cash. If the budget permits, I'm really going shopping for books. About one up to four, still depending on the budget. Yeah Robert Kiyosaki is a Japanese but his books are not novels, they're eye-openers for life and earning money. His books are not a bore for people who have 0-10% knowledge about financial matters like bookkeeping, accounting and marketing. His examples are well explained in laymen's terms, not the technical terms of financial analysts.
If you're into novels, I'd also suggest Haruki Murakami's books in addition to Paulo Coelho, Dan Brown, John Grisham and Paulo Coelho. I've also read a novel that's something related to spiritual devotion. It's entitled The Heavenly Man. I forgot the author but if you'll search it, you'll find it right away.
I do shop at 2nd hand books or book sale as well. It's a haven for book lovers on a budget. I get more books for my money than at the book stores selling brand new books.

Cool, I wish I could shop books as often as you do, but I don't have enough money to buy couple of books. I usually go to the secondhand bookstore, but I still find good stuffs there and it's cheap. ^^
I've seen many Paulo Coelho's book, I even downloaded an ebook one time but I didn't like the first chapter so I just deleted it. lol! I couldn't remember the title of that book though, but I think I'm gonna give the The Alchemist a try.
Gosh, now that myLotters have been mentioning a lot of authors and book to me I feel so giddy, I should've ask this question earlier, because I don't have much time now. School will resume in few days, I hope I can still read novels even if I'll be busy with school matters.
I'll try to search Kiyosaki's books too, I've never heard of him and I'm kinda intrigue, is he an Asian? I've never tried reading Asian novels except for the local ones.

It's alright ryanong, you don't have to be ashamed of yourself. *hug* We have different hobbies after all, and we can't all possibly have all the time to do all things that we want. I feel lazy doing some things too, and I know others feel that way on some stuffs as well. At least you've experienced the ride on reading books unlike others who don't really care or had never given time of day on trying it as a hobby.
