It's been a while since I heard from him

A little more than a week ago I got my first letter from my boyfriend while he's been at basic training for the army. I was so happy the day I got it and reading his words made me feel so much better. The next day I mailed off my letters I had written to him and I still haven't heard from him.
There's a facebook page for his training group and I check it everyday and see updates and occasionally some pictures. Other people are saying they've gotten more than one letter from their soldier. It makes me a little sad because so far I only have one. They were also saying that their soldier was writing letters and saying that they haven't gotten any mail yet. That was almost 2 weeks ago and I hope by now the mailing process has quickened a bit. I'm sure it was slow at the base because so many people were sending letters there that it really slowed their sorting process.
I just hope my boyfriend gets my letters and doesn't think I've forgotten him. These next few days I'm really anxious to check the mail because each day I'm hoping for a letter. I really need to just hear from him again because after a while, I start getting a little anxious about things and his letters calm me down a lot and put my mind at ease.
I think I do a pretty good job for the most part about staying strong and not getting too sad over the fact that he's away. The hardest part for me is having dreams about him and then waking up and realizing I can't just call him up or even see him.
I'm not too sad, I'm just really looking forward to getting another letter :) Maybe today will be the day!

I'm sure your letters will reach him eventually. Just be patient and when he's ready to send a letter he will. He probably feels like a fish out of water right now and is just trying to get himself acclimated to everything.

I actually got his letter today :) I think the ones I send to him get there slower than the ones he sends me. It's just hard not hearing from him all the time and I get a little sad when I don't get my letter lol. I know him and I know he tries to write to me every chance he gets. It was the same way when he had his phone the first week at boot camp. While everyone else was busy taking care of their things before lights out, my boyfriend would be the one to call me even though he had other things to do. I felt bad and I told him he could take care of his things, but he would rather talk to me instead. It's the things like that that make me feel so good about him. Getting his letter definitely brightens up my day, especially when he says sweet things.

Usually with mail, the military has to monitor all correspondence just to be sure no sensitive information is falling into the wrong hands.

If I were you, I'd stop thinking so much about getting a letter because it would just drive me crazy. Try to enjoy yourself or do other things to keep you mind off the letters. So that when it comes, you'll be surprised and be even happier.

I usually do a pretty good job of keeping myself busy. But after a week or so of not hearing from him, I can't help but get antsy and wait for a letter. It's definitely tough but I think I handle it well. It's nice having a letter to look forward to.

The mail is slow and it seems even slower when you are anxiously looking for it each day. I am sure it is hard waiting for him. If I were you, I would send out a letter each day. As far as getting letters back from him, well, you probably won't get nearly as many as you write. Basic Training is grueling work and I'm sure that at the end of the day, he is just exhausted. It does sound as if you are handling it all pretty well. Hang in there.

Thank you :) I write him something every single day and then once I get a letter from him, i write a letter in response and mail out all my other letters along with it. That way, he has something to read from me every day we've been apart. I'm sure he has nothing else to do in his free time and I'm sure he appreciates having letters to read.

I actually got his letter not long after this post :) I was so happy to hear from him and he said some pretty sweet things that made my eyes get all watery. I'm getting excited to see him in July :)

I hope you get a letter soon from him! I know you said your not too sad but your post made me really sad, Lol. I just thought about when my husband was away for months at a time for work, it was the hardest time of my life. =(
Your much stronger than I am though. I could not be a military spouse, I am not strong enough for that.
I hope you hear from him soon so you can be at peace again.

I actually got a letter about half an hour after I wrote this post!! It made my day and my hands were shaking with excitement as I read his letter. Some of the things he said made my eyes get all watery because he's just so sweet sometimes. I definitely didn't think I had it in me to do this and I'm surprised at how strong I've been through it all. I've had my moments where I sort of broke down and cried but my friends were able to help me through it and now I'm ok with his decision and I know I'll see him soon.
This letter just made my day and I've already read it over and over.
