I am enthralled by Pickers, Storage Wars, and other shows like this, and i really want to start doing this to make money. What kinds of valuable items do you have in your house, and where could i guy like me score some valuable collectables for a great deal?

If I were you, I'd hit the garage sales. It's amazing what people get rid of for just a few pennies. Of course, you have to know what you're looking for. Focus on one or two areas that you know well, at least to start. One thing I know for sure is that you can buy metals at garage sales and resell. Things like brass ashtrays, folding aluminum chairs and so on, usually bring more in salvage than they're sold for as products (at garage sales). If you want to focus on collectibles, if I were you, I'd study some place like eBay to see what's selling and what is a waste of time.

You can sell on Eba.Selling on eBay is as easy Well first, you need a eBay account. Then you will be able to bid or buy things. A eBay account also allows you to sell goods. A lot of people use PayPal these days to pay for their transactions and collect funds after selling their product on eBay so I would recommend opening a PayPal account as well. A lot of sellers will accept only PayPal as a payment method because it's safe for both parties. A PayPal account can be linked to your actual bank account easily allowing you to transfer funds back and forth. Opening a eBay and PayPal account is free. When you send money using PayPal, you will receive a receipt via email and your payment transaction will be keep on file in your PayPal account. The seller then has a few days to ship out your item and provide you with a tracking number. A tracking number is used to provide you with information about your parcel. In the event that the seller does not ship you a item (usually within 5 days excluding weekends and holidays), then you can open a dispute in PayPal stating that the seller refuses to ship your item and that you have already attempted to contact the seller about the matter. Then PayPal will reverse the funds from the sellers PayPal account. Many buyers will wait 2-3 weeks to open a PayPal dispute after payment. A buyer has 45 days after the date of purchase to open a dispute. If the seller ships you the wrong item or a damaged item, you can open a dispute as well and PayPal will instruct you to ship the item back then provide you with a refund or allow the seller to ship you with the correct/undamaged item. The number one priority of a seller is to satisfy the buyer so it is a rare event that the seller ship the wrong or a damaged item. Once you are satisfied with your purchase, you can leave the seller positive feedback so that others can see that you had a good transaction. As a buyer, you can also leave negative feedback explaining why you are not pleased with the seller. The seller can not leave their customers negative feedback.

my advice is to go to the library! (i know that sounds weird, but bear with me). the library has great information on how to sell, where to get stuff and how to price it. other than that, you could try auctions and thrift stores. i think those are about the best two places for 'treasures'. (auctions can be good if you get a box lot, ya never know!)

I thought you were going to tell me to look for old books at the library. Usually they take a beating, but I could definitely use more info.

Start with the yard sales. But you need to get there early to get the best buys. I love to go yardselling on the weekends. I find some good bargains on most weekends.

I think it would become a favorite hobby of mines too. Though I'd have to move stuff quickly as I dont have room to store anything.
