Saying goodbye to your favorite TV shows.

I just saw the series finale of Boy Meets World for the first time, and it made me cry. I loved that show when it used to air, but I was always too busy to watch it, so this was my first opportunity to do it. What did you do when one of your favorite shows came to an end? Was I silly for crying?

I understand you there. One show I loved was Heroes and it just came to a sudden halting mysterious end. I hate when they just decide to end them with no conclusion what so ever. I know some shows are based on books. Not like there is much time to read without much time even for tv, but if it's good I will try to find the time.

Yep! I am starting to like the show Alphas, it's starting again soon. I am hoping it stays going for a while. I always wonder why they cancel, they say not enough viewers but I wonder if they just run out of ideas.

Sometimes the actors quit, or want too much money. Sometimes the writers kill a show with bad plot lines. Sometimes they lose their sponsors. There's a bunch of reasons.

I avoided watching Heroes for that reason. It happened to me when I started watching 10 Things I Hate About You. They cut it off after the 3rd season and never finished it. At least give me some closure if you are going to cancel a show.

No you we're not silly for crying I do that with a lot of shows. I to also watched that show when it was on and love it. They are taking a lot of my favorite shows off and putting stupid stuff on in there place.

I know how you feel. Sometimes I'll wait till a show has had 4 seasons before I give it a go.

i think it is sweet that you cried during the last episode. its funny with any show that you get really into, when the show finishes, you know you will miss it. we have watched all the seasons of Emergency! (a show during the 70s, yes, i am that old!) and felt super let down when the show finished (we get our dvds from the library).
incidentally, my 15 year old daughter has been watching all the episodes of Boy Meets World (again, from the library). she loves that show! I wish i could get the Wonder Years (Ben savage's older brother Fred played on that show, but alas, our library doesn't have any copies of that show)

I don't buy the DVDs as you can pretty much find every episode online if you look hard enough. It is sad though, I can only wonder how I feel when Bones finally ends.

hi phillydreamer...i don't think you were being silly at all! television shows can be very emotionally important to us...we can learn from them, or just relax, or laugh....when i was expecting my son i was on bedrest for six months and television was really important to me then, as well as books...during that time i became very hooked on both the young and the restless and on northern exposure...i looked forward to seeing the characters and almost felt like they were my friends..i don't watch as much television now, but my favorite show is mad men on amc...i really missed it when it had a fifteen month or so hiatus, and now that the fifth season is over i can't wait to buy the dvd's...i have the other seasons and mr. psychoartist and i have watched them every night in order, so i am waiting to add the fifth season....i used to like "boy meets world" too, particularly the teacher..

I know those times. When my fiance had the twins we were in the hospital almost a week and we used to watch different shows on my laptop. You get really into a show when you can watch it beginning to end.

I don't think you were silly for crying. It's a free world :)
When one of my favorite shows came to an end, I didn't know what to do in that time anymore. It's funny but I think sometimes we arrange our personal lives around our favorite TV shows.
Fortunately that passes when you start doing something you love, and you no longer yearn for diversion.
I'm glad you enjoyed a television episode; there actually are only a few times in one's life when the mood is just right to really feel the episode. But it feels good when it happens, if it's a positive experience.

I was just sad, because they kept playing old episodes in flash back, and I remembered all of them. I get like that with certain books too.
