I am in the process of writing books. One of my books is a poetry book. I display alot of my work on facebook. I get alot of responses from my statuses and I think thats good publicity. But some of my best work comes from the things I put on there that everyone has seen. I say that because my best work is freestyled so it flows better. And that how i post my statuses..what ever i am feeling at the time, that's what I write. I dont know how it works as far as if its already put out there like that, can it still be placed in my book for publication. Any writers out there that can help me out? Ive researched, well tried to research it, but a few direct pointers wont hurt. What do you think?

If you are planning to market to your friends on Facebook, then you want to make sure the work in your book is poetry that has never been posted. One thing I have been trying to hammer into the heads of my fellow poets who still post on Facebook is stop giving away your work for free. You could just as easily write poetry for HubPages or Redgage earn a small passive income and post the links in your Facebook. As writers we all want our work to be read by as many people as possible, but if you want to turn your writing into a business you have to take advantage of all income opportunities.

SEE..."now dats some good trash rite there, Philly...dat wat my Drill Instructor used to say when i gave him a good idea. But anyway, thats what I am looking for. Are there any sites that you can post to that do pay, because if i can comment for .02 cents, im almost certain I can freestyle for the same. But im finna check out this HubPage and Redgage right now!

While I do post a small amount (a real small amount) of my work on Facebook, I am not sure that Facebook is the best platform for publicity. Or at least, that has been my experience. My biggest set of buyers seem to be people who just found my work elsewhere. For the "double-dipping" that I do, I use Helium to earn while I am doing my draft. The important part if you go the "earn while you write" route is to make sure that the sites you are posting on do not claim exclusive rights which would prevent you from reprinting (republishing) your material elsewhere.

yea i worry about that issue when i put them on facebook also. Because anyone can copy and paste my work and claim it as thiers if it aint been copywrited...because most of my work comes from the head at that moment. So the draft is what i put out there.
