In the past two days we have had one inch of summer rain, and it's been cool. I live in a part of Oregon which is semi-desert and it is a little unusual for us to get this much rain at this time of year. Yesterday morning there was a break and the Sun came out, it was even warm. So I took my weed cutter out to get a few more weeds. As I walked along side of a field I started to notice sun bathing snakes, these were spaced out along the field and because of the rain showed the beautiful colors. We have very few poison snakes and I knew these were not so I could just enjoy them. I have never seen so many taking advantage of the sun and it was a beautiful sight, of course the camara was safe at home. But the memory is there for me. Blessings

I have not seen many snakes in their natural habitat. I would have loved to see a picture of this. Do you know what kinds of snakes they were.

Hello savypat Yet another advantage to life on the ranch. When I had my farm I saw a lot of snakes, some of them venomous, most not. We had one beautiful indigo snake that I later learned was on the endangered list. It has beautiful coloring. Then there were the variety of king snakes, of whom I was always glad to see around. I also liked observing the snakes and remember a few times when they would lift themselves a good foot off the ground to get a better look at me as I passed by on my tractor. I was not so welcoming to the venomous snakes. Peace I love the world!!

Philippine pythons or large constrictors are more common in my place than snakes but they seem to have diminished now because of increased human population, they are notorious for attacking livestock mostly poultry.
