We are paying taxes for everything that we buy. This is known as indirect tax. This is aside from the fact that some of us are are already being deducted from our salaries taxes from our income, which is known as direct taxes. We also know that these taxes that we pay are being returned to us in the form of government services through it's various programs and projects. But does your country has a way of checking as to the accuracy of these government expenditures? Does the government really returned what is due for the people? In our country, we are adopting the Full Disclosure Policy. This is a program of the government wherein every province, city, municipality down to the barangays are required to post on the bulletin board specifically made for this purpose all financial documents such as taxes and revenue generated as well as expenditures so that the people may know where their taxes go. How about in your country my dear fellow myLotters? How does your government report their expenditures to the people? Do you also have program wherein the income and expenses by the government is being disclose to the people? Your inputs will be highly appreciated.

I think we do know how a big portion of the taxes go.. it is well.. going to the pockets of first the politicians, and then their friends whom these politicians are protecting, of course their friendship has a cost too. Ah believe me, i know how difficult it is when all 30% of your salary goes to the country's supposed development and its been what? 8 years and everything was still the same. It bothers me that i am losing this part of MY Money for nothing and i see these people in the government, where their kids go to good schools, even study internationally... and then they have mansions, rest houses and we can barely save a dime as workers! duh

I really don't know where my taxes go. I have some ideas though. I am sure some goes to help run state prisons. The rest is anyone's guess. I would hope my taxes go for good things like education and other things like that. In the state I live in we have the third highest property taxes in the US. We have one of the lowest state tax in the US. It is weird and I wish i knew where all of my taxes go! I will be angry if my taxes go to something stupid and unneeded!

The taxpayer is part of the contributor to national wealth and income. The governmental machinery would be inoperative without the taxes levied from the rich and employed classes of the population. The tax revenue goes to the state exchequer and is back to the people of the nation by way of salaries to employees and finances for development activities in general.

Our politicians are crooks, so we know we are being robbed blind. We don't ask question, because they make people who ask questions disappear. The good old USA is so backwards when it comes to certain things. I really like this idea, though I for one would look at the numbers and not understand a thing.

I do oftentimes ask my sister with regards to this tax thing since she is connected to an institution who manage our taxes. However, I couldn't get an exact answer from her for she will just say that it is surely being used for all government projects such as road constructing. Oh well, I just got to pass by in one road and saw a a big sign stating "This is where your taxes go!" Just a little glad for in one way or another, I am contributing something for the progress of our country. I may not know if we have programs that monitors how our taxes are being utilized and used in all government expenditures in programs and projects but I just do hope that our taxes are really being used to it's right purpose. Happy mylotting!

Hi ginspearl! Thank you for sharing your opinion on this topic. Since we came from the same country, I would like to give some information about this. We have this full disclosure policy. It is the government policies that requires certain local government officials of province, cities, municipalities and barangays to fully disclose particular financial transactions of the LGU to keep their constituents informed of how the LGU budget is managed, disbursed and used.

Surely my taxes go into provision of social infrastructure to me. Most especially security but still the security in my country is not good to boost about. Most of the taxes paid in my country end not utilized and the masses are short-changed. My government are not frank about income and expenses disclosed to the people so the people have lost confidence totally in the government.

Yea, I enjoyable pay the high ups in Ottawa to go on vacation. I owe the government $2.000 this year. They keep calling me, and its ridiculous yet when they owe me money they take months to get it to you. I have no idea where my money goes, and I'm sure they won't say they will say. Its going for education, health care, and so on yet there is no improvement.
