Some people work nights. I work nights and don't get home until almost midnight. It's impossible to walk in and go directly to bed so I end up staying up until one or two in the morning. Still, I am usually up between 6 & 7 but I can see why some would choose to sleep in if they didn't have to get up. I don't see it as a problem. Some people just are night people.

We are all different I think. I have for as long as I can remember, been one to come alive at night. It drove my parents nuts when I was a kid because I literally stayed awake half the night or more even though my mother would put me to bed quite early. I always also got up just fine in the mornings and went to school etc. When I graduated school, I did work day shift and still stayed up at night. I just didn't seem to require the sleep that a lot of other people do. Now that I work nights...it's perfect for me. I still get up in the morning but I'm a lot older now. I don't function as well as I did when I was younger. Still, a couple of cups of coffee cures that and I am fine. I probably average about 5 hours sleep a night, I'm guessing.

I have been a late sleeper for the last 7 or 8 years, but I am not so by choice. What happened was that my mother suddenly fell severely ill.Although I had already got married by then,it was impossible for my wife to administer all medicines to her, because she did not like to go on taking medicines one by one.It was only myself who can persuade her to take medicines and she was unable to refuse, because I was the one in our family who was most attached to her.So I had to keep awake till late night. At last I lost my mother, but now keeping awake till late night has become my habit.

Now I am trying to return to my previous habit when my mother was fit and well even in her seventies and she used to force me to go to bed by 10pm.And then I would get up at 4am in the morning.....Thanks.

I am one of the people who likes to sleep late and wake up also late the next day. I still don`t know why but you know i think i enjoy the night more because it is colder and more silent. The aura is also peaceful and calm. Compare to morning, everybody was busy and moving a lot and that makes me destructed. I woke up in early afternoon and start to eat and watch television. When late afternoon comes, i am starting to get up my vibes and start working and getting up my mood

When I was a student, usually cramming for early next day exam kept me awake until late. There are also other things people choose to do instead of sleeping; such as, reading, watching TV, or even myLotting. Welcome to myLot. This site could be very addicting to some people; I've lost some sleep over it myself...

I also sleep late at night because of an exam the following day. Its just that I enjoy sleeping more, and it is a physiologic need of a person right ?

Yes, we need sleep to rest our body and mind. Lack of sleep can really affect not just our body, but our mind as well. Listen to your body, it will let you know if you don't have enough sleep.

We tend to pick everything over sleep, then we suffer later. I know I have a tendency to push my assignments for my course to the last minute so Im rushing in the end to finish them. Sometimes I get distracted after work here, and realize its 3 hours after my bedtime.

hello :) This is a good question ..!! And according to the scientist "AT NIGHT, THE HUMAN BRAIN IS MOST ACTIVE AND LEAST ACTIVE DURING AFTERNOON" but instead of that....there are so many other works to do like some people study during night because its silent and some watch movies, enjoy etc.. Even i like sleeping late at night during my holidays and getting up late..... :P :P cheers :)

Hi, I am actually one of those people who sleeps late at night. Consequently I get up a little late the following morning. I can never wake up at dawn. Even I put the alarm on, I inevitably put it off during sleep. I know this is definitely not a healthy habit. But I have to study at late night. I make it a point to take an afternoon nap as well. That gives me the energy to stay awake. But it is true that I end up feeling lethargic the next morning because of staying awake till 2am at night. But I have no choice except to study at that time to make up. In the evenings I have tuition and also freelancing work to do.

I sleep very late because my shift ends at 11pm and me and my bf talk when I get home because we are in a long distance relationship and communication is really very important. I am used to sleeping late and I don't have any issues with it because I am not obliged to wake up early the following morning. I don't miss this evening time because I am already used to it and it doesn't complicate things. As long as I can sleep 7-8 hours a day, I'm cool with it already.

Since i have been on vacation because of an operation last May, i am always sleeping late. That's because, i am now used to opening Facebook so my husband and i could take a look at whatever our daughter has posted on her facebook. Then, we would look at some postings on facebook of my former classmates at high school and be amused at some silly postings. When my husband goes to sleep, i continue doing at my laptop and will now go to Mylot. Though, i have slept late at about 11:30 pm, still in the morning, i would always be awake at 6:00 am. That's good, because on Monday, i will be reporting back to work and have to be early always.

I personally love sleep, but I love life too! I think if the experience of life can sometimes be worth shorting yourself a few hours of sleep. Investing in coffee is the ticket!

I strongly feel that I'm a nocturnal person. I love the night time and have really never been a morning person because the night is more comforting and all of the funny Cartoon Network shows come on late at night (Adult Swim). I also like to raid the refrigerator at night time because my metabolism rages! Squares sleep early and no one wants to be a square! Waking up early is necessary at times but when its not, I'm going to bed in the AM if I'm even going to bed at all.

it is there biological system, i used to be like that and i feel i want to do that sometimes staying late at night is nice and relaxing and so on, but also waking up at morning fun and good, so each choice has advantages and diadvantagess

Like others here, I am a 'night' person. Creatively speaking I can do my best work at night. I just like to be up. I don't know if there is a real answer to it or not, it think, like other believe, that we are just wired that way. The wiring they thing causes the differences is based on Circadian rhythms. some people have a rhythm that makes them morning individuals, while others have a rhythm that makes them night people. Whatever the case, I know for a fact that I am a night person, and prefer the night time to the daytime. I do not like afternoons, and if I could, would probably choose those hours, from 12 noon to 5 or 6 in the evening to sleep. then get up. That would be about perfect for me. There is another type of sleeping, and that is Polyphasic sleep. it's interesting in that people are born with the desire to nap here and there. The US Military found that 2 hours nap time every 4 to 6 hours could probably keep someone going for the long haul, especially if their schedules were eratic.
