Hi youless, here, only the people who make the call would be charged and sending sms and email is free. And of course I don't mind what way they make to contact me. They know which would be the frugal way anyway.
My cell phone is always with me and one of my favorite melodies has been setting as the sms receiving tone. I don't think I would miss any sms as the music that last for quit a long moment. This is the main reason why my loved ones and most of my friends like to sms me.
There won't be any problem to me as well to call back the callers as all the latest miss call will be displayed on the top of the list conspicuously. I can call back them whenever I have spare time. I know one will keep on calling me it they need any urgent help.
I get on line almost everyday and the mailbox is one among tabs on the top of the pc screen. From the unread number shows I could see clearly whenever there is any incoming new mail. I would read it straight away and would reply instantly if necessary.
Happy posting

Oh I see! It's totally different. My phone account will be charged only if I receive both call and sms if having vacation abroad. The rate of charge depends on the country where we are. The further country we are the more expensive the rate would be. To avoid spending unnecessary extra expenses I usually would keep my phone turn off if I go abroad for vacation

I guess text messaging or call via cellphone is today's leading communication method. i do prefer text messaging or cellphone call myself because I carry my cellphone with me almost all the time. Sometimes, I think it is already a part of me, that whenever I don't see it or know that it is with me, I feel alarmed or worried.

I agree. Like many other things, I never really thought that it would make that much of importance until I actually realized it one day when I left my cellphone at home. I don't know if it's healthy to be really dependent on this things but I believe that as long as it serves it's purpose well then I am happy to have it.

Yeah, I would prefer the same way as you like. Most of the time my friends sends sms if it's not to important but if it really needs my quick attention they can call me anytime through my cellphone. They could reach me too through email.

Yeah, so if ever you have sent an email to your friend and she/he had not responded, you call them too just to make sure. I like that too, as I said if it needs immediate attention I'll give them a ring too.

Hi Youless,
I am thinking that SMS is a way better chance to contact me. But as what I have heard from my friends...I am really difficult to contact with because even though they text me, they can't receive any reply (actually, I don't read text messages...and I don't usually reply)....
So, I think if it's really very important, then a call would a priority if I am not on public areas or working....I can then answer that.
Happy Mylotting.

The best way to contact me would be calling me. LOL. I don't look at my phone often so when people just send me sms, I would probably not read it immediately and one more thing, I hate texting, so I would prefer people calling me or ring my phone and I'll call. I also read my emails as often as I could so people can send me mails as well. ;))

I agree with you! I don't know what I would do without SMS / text messaging. I love it because I know who is trying to reach me, and their text is right there on the screen. It is so much faster than calling! All my friends and family know to text me because I can get back with them so much quicker. If they call me, depending on who it is, I probably won't answer because I'm usually working during the day. A phone call takes much longer when a text can be read and responded to within a matter of seconds! I have one friend who will text me here and there, but our main method of communication is talking on the phone and hanging out in person. I don't mind spending time with her in person. It's a lot of fun, and we live about an hour apart, so it's nice getting together. However, I don't enjoy spending long periods of time talking on the phone! (We talk about once a week on the phone on average.) I know every girl is supposed to enjoy talking on the phone, but I sure don't lol!

I like text the best. I can get to it whenever, even if my phone is turned off and if I'm in class. If not a text, a phone call is the next best way to get in touch with me, I hardly ever check my email these days and when I do it's crammed with junk mail. Oh and facebook is another good way to get in touch with me. I'm on there a lot.

I prefer text messaging as well because it's so convenient and you can respond whenever you're not busy. I also like the walkie-talkie type apps where you can leave a voice messages for the other person to listen to and respond when they're available.

I just love messaging and this is the way I just used to pass the information .Along with it , SMS rate are too cheaper than making a phone call. Activating an message offer in my mobile helps me to send a lot of sms which includes a lot of message.
I feel messages are the best way to communicate from public places because messaging cannot become a disturbance for others.

Hey, long time no see..
but yes you are right that SMS is one the best ways asking someone if he or she can pick the call if it is urgent??
but if the work is not urgent why to spoil your money for calling why not sms someone for free?? huh??

Yes, same here! I would prefer them to send me a message thru text rather than call me upfront. I work in a manufacturing plant, hence, there are a lot of areas in which answering a call is not suitable. This includes noisy areas with heavy equipment running, during operational activities, meetings and the likes. So I prefer getting a message so that I can prepare myself for a call if necessary. Also, I am not comfortable hearing my phone ringing during sensitive times like while I'm in a meeting.
