Yep for me too! We are "night owls" that is why we feel this way. I think this is a popular time shift because of the responses in the thread about it.

I have worked the 11-7 shift for most of my nursing career. You do adjust to it, but now that I only work one night a week, it is somewhat difficult to maintain schedule. I have to nap Sat to stay up all night, then nap Sun when I get home, but not too much so I can't go back to bed Sun night.

I enjoy the shift I have at work, which is about right after supper time to midnight. It makes it easier for me and I don't get stressed as much. Come ten o'clock it's just me and the chores I've got to do, and come eleeve o'clock it's just me and the stockers. So Honestly it's a good shift to have for me. I've worked over night as well and loved it. To me it felt like I wasn't working at all.

I would enjoy this period of time also. Its good that you can eat your dinner with your family and then go into work. It seems like it would be very much less stressful than in the mornings having to wake up to go to work then.

You are just not used to working on the night shift or maybe your body really can't take the night shift duty. Our body really can't rest well when we have night shifts that is why we feel always sickly and tired. I have experienced working on all 3 shifts and I would say the best is the morning shift. Because I can still do a lot of things right after work and since I am not a party person, I can sleep early easily. But, now since I am in the afternoon shift, I am already used to sleeping late and waking up late.

I actually prefer the night shift at work because then I have all day to spend time with my kids. For me it works better but not for everyone. I just like having the whole day to do whatever and not have to work the whole day, especially if it is a nice day it would drive me nuts having to be at work instead of having a nice day with my kiddos. If you do not like the night shift, maybe it would be better to start looking elsewhere for work. I would not suggest losing this job before having another though of course. I wish you luck with whatever you decide! =)

Hi! I prefer going to work during the daytime, but if I have to do some research at home I prefer working at night! Generally, I like working at home during the night, but I can't imagine myself going to the workplace at that time.

It is said that there is nothing like a good night sleep and it can't be replaced. I say this is true because when stay up until late, even if I sleep all day I still feel tired when I wake up. On the other hand, if you have no other choice you can get used to it eventually.

Oh I hadn't considered that I would be more tired from working a night shift. That's a valid point because you'll work when you normally would be sleeping. It would probably take much time to get used to and I hope you will adjust quickly.

I always prefer day shift, as working in a night shift is tedious as it goes against the natural behavior. Working at night and sleeping at day also disturbs your health. I have rejected some jobs which required working at night. Working for a day or so is ok, but working for months in a night shift makes you fell ill. If anyone asks me I will always be in favor of working at a day time.

I work at night, I have gotten used to that lifestyle. Sometimes it is a little hard to sleep during the day when the sun is shining and the bedroom is hot, but I usually manage to fall asleep anyway. I had one job where I only worked at night in the weekends and it was harder for me to adjust to that, because the rest of the week I was awake during the day and slept at night. I don't mind working at night, it takes a while to adjust to that lifestyle, but after a while I don't think much about it.

I would like a night shift. This way I have time to do things when most people are during the day. But also because I feel more alive at night, I don't know why that is. I would probably be more productive at night. I'm also liking the night idea because it is more quiet and peaceful for me.
