How much are you willing to pay for a pizza?

Am a pizza lover but I don't know if I will be willing to spend fortunes for a "white truffles and 24-carat gold leaf" by Margo's Pizzeria, which cost $2,400! Oh my! That amount can already keep me full for months!
...and, even if it may appear romantic, I won't suggest my future fiance to buy me a pizza with a diamond ring at $8,200!
Your thoughts, friends?

I abhor things that are overly expensive. I don't even like Starbucks because the cost of a cup of coffee there is about twice of the minimum hourly wage in this country. All the more will I never buy a $2400-dollar pizza! That's over Php100,000 in here which is 1/4 the amount of my house. Of course, I can never afford it as well. But even if I could, I probably will not. I grew up with my family struggling financially so one thing I am not is wasteful. I saw something similar on TV once, a steak that's covered in some sort of gold foil. The cost of it is Php50000, which is about$1150. No way. Even those pricey designer bags. No way. Now I have a rather okay job and I could afford them if I saved up for about six months or so,but still

I, too, abhor buying pricey stuffs. Am so glad I found someone like me here. I mean, I don't go to Starbucks, as well. In stead, I buy Great Taste Extra Strong and fix myself a cup at home. Or, if I really want coffee right away and home is still some minutes from where I currently am, I'd go to Ministop to grab Great Taste Extra Strong in a cup. Am not good in budgeting but I sure am frugal. My dad is. Learned it from him.
Friends thought am the "material girl" type only because they didn't know I just really dunno how to budget. Can't tell pricey from not. Grew up very dependent with all I needed were given to me instantly. But, I sure know Starbucks is comparatively costly.
Even bags and shoes...as much, as possible I'd go for bargains but are nice ones. If only I know how to go to Divisoria... or Marikina...
Cool! Thankies for sharing your thoughts.

I frequent Divisoria since I am in the events business. We get a lot of materials from there. It is true that there is a plethora of cheap items but of poor quality in Divi. But if you know where to go, you can find good things at good prices. Once in a while, you strike gold and find something so cheap and so good. The shoes I am wearing now cost me Php50. Best shoes ever. They're lightweight, and good for the rainy season. Best fifty pesos I ever spent.

Oh my you're awesome! Bought that shoes for only fifty pesos! You're incredible. I know your secret -- patience! Which something I don't have...yet. I will be. One day.
So, is't really just once in a while? What are good stuffs you can buy in Divisoria? Clothes?
...you mentioned you're in the events biz. Care to elaborate? Just interesting.

I saw a show that talked about that on the FoodNetwork channel. How stupid is that! And what is stupid-er...someone actually paid it!What a waste on both ends!
But seriously. I haven't had a good pizza in so long.. I almost have forgotten how good they can taste. Pizzss are so much crust anymore...3 inches of crust from the outside in and nothing on it. THen some sauce and a little bit of cheese and a few toppings. Very sparce, yet very expensive...$18 for a large! I love pizza but would never want to eat gold!

I have also seen when FoodNetwork featured the best pizzerias around the US(?) And, that expensive pizza with the caviar that cost it fortunes. hahaha
...same here, I haven't had pizza for a while. The last one I had was from Shakey's and you're right that it's nothing but oil inside a thick dough with thinly spread tomato sauce sprinkled with cheese and sparse toppings. To think that we ordered the All-Meat one! hahaha... I can put up with those that they sell in groceries.

Thanks for sharing. Not sure, though, if we have those here in South East Asia. hehe
You have your own way of enjoying something you really love at an inexpensive price, huh!

You know what sharksfin....I have stopped ordering them at places..just to expensive for what little you get. I went through the gambit of the frozen ones and of all them out there.. you know what ones are the best? Mama Celeste Pizza for One and Jeno's! I swear... they are good, at least compared to what the others are. I still think there is a better pizza out there, but that is the best it gets for me here in CA and at home. They are both microwavable with the little circle thing to bake them on, but I put them in my toaster oven, and they are done in about 10 minutes and so much better baked than nuked. I often just add a little more cheese but other than that.. they are good. And I have recently started making my own.. bread machine makes the dough and I just add what I want and they are pretty good too! And I just use regular tomato sauce and add spices. I just need to find mini pizza pans to make the dough/crusts so I can freeze them as when i make a 12 incher.. I eat the whole thing!

Wow that is crazy... I wonder how many people have actually ordered it! I like Little Ceaser's $5 hot and ready pizzas or Dominos 2 medium pizzas for $5.99 each. But when I go to Chicago I pay up to $20 for a pizza for my hubby and I because they are soooo good. It is worth it for 20 dollars. Bu 2400 NEVER!

ikr? Well...talking about pizza makes me drool. And you mentioned Dominos! haha... I like Yellow Cab, Sbarro (their Chicago White), Gotti's and A Veneto Napoli Pizzeria Ristorante. YUMMY! They're all not pricey for me.

That's too much. I don't have that much money to spend for that pizza. That is so lavish and I don't think I would ever do that even if I have the means considering the fact that many people around the world are starving. I want a romantic marriage proposal but not a lavish one such as that.

I know. In fact, it doesn't matter how simple the wedding is for as long as you're secured it's gonna last forever.

What the? I don't like spending much on pizza even though it's one of my favourite foods but I mean really I'm going to eat it and then it will come out the other end so why the hell would I pay that ludicrous amount of money? :D
Anyone who can afford to do that simply has more dollars than sense. If I'm going to spend a lot of money on something it will be something that I could enjoy for a long time :)

Oh my! I could buy a new laptop with that price. Though I am also a pizza lover I would not spend a lot of money for a pizza. It is quite impractical, plus money is not easy to earn so we need to take care of it. I mean, choose on what you spend wisely.

I wouldn't give so much money also. You are right with your thinking, hun. Just to feed our greed of having prestige - not a good reason to spend insane money for pizza which is a part of any collection. It's all food and we will throw it after repairing in the toilet - same place where we throw out after eat even the cheapest food on the planet.

Pizza is food. Anything that is not food but added on just for the value is wrong. I am not sure if white truffles are suitable to be prepared as part of a pizza. I think there are better ways to prepare truffles to make it the highly prized cuisine it is. I love pizza. But I will not pay such unpizza-able price for those weird ingredients.

What kinda pizza is that?
My husband and I share the same favorite pizza. And, that's the super supreme with cheesy pops variant from Pizza Hut. We just had one earlier. And, we had to drive to the city to get one. I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars on pizza, but I would wait long enough to get my favorite slice.

I love pizza, but I'm so not willing to spend the "Extra wad of cash" for food. The idea of just having edible gold is nice, but there's really no point in having it. For all I know, food could just be doused with edible gold and be the most pricey foods of all time!

hi sharksfin! the psychoartist is also an ardent fan of pizza! but i find the description of white truffles and 24-carat gold leaf pizza very very unappetizing...i don't care how much it costs! mr. psychoartist and i had the misfortune of visiting a pizzaria in our new state called pizza ranch and it was such a disappointment...it was about an hour away from our house...it is the closest pizza...so i am seriously considering becoming an at home pizza cook!

Ikr?! May satisfy your appetite only for a few minutes and you'll take it out as garbage. There's a lot more we can make wise use of our cash.
