I realized that I have lotsa shoes stacked in my room. I just get to stare at them when I am in bed. Although, I have about twenty plus pairs, I normally stick to one (or two). And, that's what I use almost every time. Makes me wonder how long before they wear out. Cause, I noticed that two of what I have (even they're neatly and properly stored in containers) already worn out. And, I only used them more than a couple of times. *sigh* Any tips on how to care for shoes.

Well it all depends on the person and what they do and the type of shoes they have. My husband can go almost a year with out having to get a new pair of shoes. He walks a lot and the way his feet are they end to get worn out very quickly. I can keep a pair of shoes depending on what they are to a year or more. I don't wear dress shoes much so they tend to last pretty long for me. Teenis shoes or flats go quicker for me. Flip flops can last a year or more for me.
Right now I have a little one so she out grows her shoes pretty quick because of her being under the age of 5 years old and then of course I'm about to have another baby so you can image how quick we go through little kid shoes but we never spend more then $10 on kids shoes.

I haven't bought a new pair of shoes for a year now, actually. I thought I still have around 20plus which I don't even get to use. So, what for?
Thanks for sharing.

Why are you asking me so what for? I don't know why you have that many shoes only you know why you have that many shoes.
I know house many shoes I got and it's not where near 20 plus shoes at all. I don't buy new clothes unless I need them. Because I have a 17 month old and another one they go through shoes really quick you can't put little kids in shoes that don't fit there feet it'll hurt them especially if they can walk.
I don't know why other people have more shoes then me and others don't. Some people just like to buy and collect things they don't need always. Some people like shoes for ever out fit I don't know why. I"m not a fashion expert.

Oh, sorry ShyBear. The question is actually not for you but for myself. Maybe I wasn't able to put my msg across clearly because I was already too sleepy when I made that post. Hehe...

It really depends. Normally, shoes that are from a good brand do not wear out that fast. They last usually for forever! But those shoes that are fake or that do not have a brand can last only for a year or two. This is just based on my experience. Happy mylotting!

When you say "brand", does it mean the Nine West, CMG, Steven Madden, Schu, Michael Kors...etc types? Am not really very particular with brands, y'know. Am fine whatever shoes it is for as long as I like the looks and it's comfy. I am currently into shoes by People are People.

well, for me, because of the way i walk and the wear pattern in my shoes, my shoes generally last a couple of years before i find them very uncomfortable to wear. of course, these are the shoes that i wear all the time but dress shoes or summer shoes that i only wear once in awhile, last me many years.
i guess the only tip i have for you is to buy good quality shoes.

How long a pair of shoes lasts depends on how well constructed the shoes are, how much you weigh, how often you wear the shoes and how you care for them. I've had some shoes that have lasted 10+ years, and I did wear them regularly and didn't take any special measures to care for them.

Am not really heavy or anything. At 88lbs, I don't think my shoes will complain. The construction, design and materials would be the question, then. I rarely wear most of them as I am kind of loyal to two. Thanks for your share.

Some tips to maintain shoes for a long time :
1) Never drag your shoes along the ground when you walk .
2) Don't keep heavy steps when walking on rough terrains .
3) Don't use shoes in dirt , gravel or in rain .
4) Keep your shoes in clean and dry place .
5) *IMP* : Don't your shoes as weapons against fellow humans .
Also buy shoes of good quality from reputed companies and also make sure that you put moth balls into shoes when you are not going to use them for a long time . This help them to defend against termites . Also don't keep your shoes in the closet for a long time . Use them atleast once in a month .
