Hello, to all of my myLot friends...
So, a few days ago, I posted about something that got my discussion deleted. I was trying to get something done the wrong way.
I said to a few people that I had a motivation, other than trying to make money quick. It is my girlfriend.
She is a wonderful woman, and I will do anything for her. She has proven time and time again, that she is faithful. This much I know.
She fell ill a little over a week ago, and had to go to the hospital. If it wasnt for the little bit of money I had at the time, I would not have ever know that she was ill. The reason, is because she has no laptop, or desktop.
While in the hospital, the doctors found a lump on the left side of her neck. They needed to do some tests, but they already knew what it was. Sad to say my friends, she has cancer.
When I called her this last week she didnt want to tell me. She is very reserved, and does not like to tell everyone about her problems. So, I got desperate and tried to start a discussion about money. I stated that I was tired of being poor, but what I didnt say...
So I am just going to ask where I can pick up a laptop for cheap, and Fed Ex it to her... I was sooooo sad after this news, I cried for a whole day... Anyway, I just want to be there for her...

Where exactly in the Philippines does she live? If she's in Manila or somewhere close, then I could suggest some places that I believe sell cheap second hands or stores that could offer cheap netbooks. If it's in my city, then I can definitely find her good deals. Anyway, just hope and pray for God's help for He will surely listen.

I agree with choybel. tipidpc.com is a good site for electronic gadgets like laptops at a cheaper price compared to those sold in the malls.

Thanks for that, and may GOD Bless you too.
Yes she is in Caloocan City. There is an SM Fairview some miles away and She told me about the cost of computers there. Since I am an American, I am fairly ignorant when it comes to electronic shops there.
All I know is what she told me. Anyway, thanks for the info...

just get a new laptop for her, that would ideally help her or else present it as a christmas gift while buying at half price in some clearance sale.she will be really delighted and you both could chat for hours. :)

I don't know how inexpensive you need one to be, but tigerdirect.com usually has some good buys. They sell new as well as refurbished computers and other electronics. Right now they have a refurbished Lenovo Tablet PC for $280. Some of the name brand sites have refurbished computers and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them because their reputation is on the line if they don't work.

Hello, peavey. It would be nice to have it below $150.
That is what I am shooting for. I just hope that work picks up. It is getting pretty hard right now to get work. But I never let grass grow under my feet.
Anyway, I will look into these places. Thank you for this info...

have you tried a the pawn shops? they often have computers for really cheap. i would say to try ebay, but once i got a computer from ebay and it crashed right out of the box. another thing you could try is getting a mini notebook. i got one for my daughter for under $250. it's portable and has a good deal of memory for a little mini notebook. it's just something so that she could have to use and communicate to you with.

Hello, MoonGypsy. I know that many pawn shops have some great things, and I just dont trust them seeing that it is used.
I know that I am being picky, but I am trying to get a half way decent one that I wont have to worry about for at least 6 months.
Notebooks are good and really cheap. I actually thought about getting her one of those. I think that it might be just the thing for her. Thanks for this. It is a great idea.

I think it would be better if you just asked her friend to buy a laptop for her, it would be cheaper and could reach her faster and if there were any problems with the machine, they could easily just bring it to the place they bought it.
If you are in a different country from hers, there would be issues with voltages and parts, should there be problems in the future.
I'm sad she has cancer. But remember that all is not lost. There are many cancer survivors, you just need to motivate her to fight!
If you can't buy her a laptop, a smartphone with android capabilities could well have you two conversing easier. There are galaxy tabs (the first version) out there that are selling cheaper, if it's only communication you need, you can well communicate with that thing.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Hello, laydee. We do live in different countries. I am an American, she lives in the Philippines.
I know that she is going to be fine. She is a tough girl, and I know that she fights hard.
Thank you for those words of encouragement. You too have a great myLot time.

Instead of buying a new laptop (even the cheap one) and FedEx it to her, why don't you save up some money and fly to her country? I think it won't be as expensive as if she comes to the US. And you will really be there for her.

Yeah...I know exactly how you feel right now as I have ever had long-distance relationship myself. My ex was from Pakistan and it kills me that we couldn't meet. Plus, there was this woman who liked him and she worked at the same place with him. So she kinda disturbed all the time. Finally I met another guy from Turkey who worked in my country. We went on for about 8 months but then when he got back to his country, he returned to his ex there. This time the guy that is close with me also returns to his country. He really wants to come back to my country but if his company sets him for another country then it's possible that I'm going to lose him too. I can only pray right now that I won't give up on him. So I think whenever you get the chance to come to your girlfriend's country, then go. I hope your relationship will get even stronger after you two meet.

Hello, MissPiggy. Well, I had planned on going in August. But my financial situation is not good enough to go. It is going to be $1400 for the plane ticket alone.
With the cheap motels, that is another $100, and transportation, $100, and food, $??? and other unforeseen things... I just dont have the money for it right now...I wish that I would have known that this was going to happen, or I would have asked her to wait until September...
I would love to just go now...

The customs here in the Philippines will rip you off with the taxes. It's better to send her the money over and she buy the laptop locally.

You said you live in US, she lives in Phillipines.
It wouldn;t be a good idea to buy a laptop and send it to her, because sending such an item halfway across the globe wouldn't cost less, plus you or your gf will be charged customs fee.
Why not ask her to buy a cellphone that has 3G capability and front camera so you can video-chat on skype? It would cost much much less than a laptop.
