I fancy a career change as I'm bored with my job maybe I may go into computers but this requires me to go back to school or college to train. I'm 32 years old am I to old to go back to college?.

I feel much the same way as you. Whenever I try to learn things now, my brain just gets all jumbled up. Computers isnt a bad career, but you have to have some degree of talent with them otherwise you wont be able to learn them effectively. Why are you bored with your current job?

I am not bad with computers I can do the basics Soo I am pretty skilled I like to mess around with them and to teach my self but to get a job I need some proper qualifications in it. I have just grown bored of my current job mainly because there isn't much scope for promotion

Well if you can afford the lessons then go for it. Right now you can still switch careers as you are still relatively young, but the longer you wait the more likely you won't do it.

Absolutely NOT! I was actually 32 when I went back to college to learn a totally new career! I had to start from the beginning and the hardest part was that I was in a classroom full of teenagers! Yes I was the oldest one, I was double their age and it was quite daunting, but I spent 3 years studying and I actually made a friend who I still see now, I am now 41 and we see each other regularly so you will make new friends and that is a great bonus, a new career, we are NEVER too old to learn. You will probably find you won't be the only 'mature student' Good luck!

thank you your words are encouraging. I think that i can cope in a class full of younger students to be honest i will proberly be to engrossed in the course to even be bothered about the other students. Its such a big commitment to make its a scary one if it involves leaving my current job but i dont fear commitment. thank you for your response.

Well I think it is not the age but the willingness of ther person to learn. It is okay as long as you will learn for your own betterment in the future.

Education is indefinite and unlimited. Knowledge has no end. The more you get the more is there ahead. There is no age limit for learning. A person learns till the end of his life.Without knowledge he is incomplete. And moreover this gained knowledge should applied otherwise it is useless. Please go ahead and do not bother about your age. Best luck to you.

Thank you for your post and your right we do learn all our life so age isn't a factor in the learning process.

I think there are different kind of institutes for computers not the regular colleges are required if you wish to be an expert. They run different certificate, diploma and degree level courses, which you can learn according to your own choice. My Best wishes.

No, 32 is still young.. But there is a lot of expectation specially you are the eldest among your classmates. Just think mature and don't get to their level so they respect you and not make fun of you. This is just an advice.. Good luck to your schooling :p
