Garage selling experience

Can you share your garage-selling experience? I have some stuff that I want to get rid of and to clear the clutter in my room. It will be my first time to sell things in the garage so I am wondering what to do, what to expect from customers, etc. Can I also sell some food to earn extra income while at the same time, sell some stuff in the garage? Is it possible to sell defective things as well? Tips and suggestions are very much appreciated.

I have had yard and garage sales and I won't do it again. Although you do sell some things, nobody wants to pay what the tag says. I swear, if you a one pound gold bar for sale for just $1 most people would try to get it for half price then walk away when you refused! The last time I was desperate for money I gathered all my stuff together and listed it on eBay and Amazon. I made enough to help keep my head above water during my divorce and no haggling. One myLotter posted the other day that she sold a tshirt on eBay for $15, she only paid a couple dollars for it but it was a Hello Kitty shirt. If you have anything that you think might sell online, I'd try that if I were you. Much less stressful and you get a better price.

Thanks for this suggestion. I will keep this in mind. We have to move by september 1st and we don't have money saved for our move. So I was thinking about having a garage sale. Well now I will try to sell some items on ebay or amazon. I hope that I will have a little success. As it will go to our moving security deposit.

I think ebay is one of the best website for selling things and you can go for ebay and other sites to see how it goes.

I have not had many garage sales, but I have been to plenty of them. Here people often sell light refreshments or homemade treats like cookies and cakes at their garage sale. It depends on the rules where you live. It is alright to sell things that no longer work, if you are honest about it and tell people it does not work and do not price it too high.

Garage sale is exciting as people wants to check the cheapest they can buy. You can pile all items neatly in separate tables like appliances, stuff toys, clothes etc. You can sell defective items but most people won't go for it, unless it is very very cheap and with some deal that they can bring it back once it is not fixed or can't be fixed anymore. You can also sell foods along with the items...that will surely give you more extra while watching your displays.

hello garages sales are quite easy just time comsumming...All I can say is that if you are selling defected items please let the buyer know before collecting the monies for items...another thing is make sure you price your items to sell,,thats if you want to get rid of the item...that way you will b able to clear out more...I am not saying give yout items away, but don't make it so costly that people have to haggle about the prices... good luck and its a great way to clear out unwanted items....

I remember the garage sales my mom and dad use to have when I as a child. Bring out extra tables out on to your parking lot and in your garage. Set up the items you want to sell neatly. Jewlery and nick-naks in one spot, art and odds and ends in a different spot, bikes and vaccums in a different spot, etc... Get some paper tape and mark the reasonable prices you want for the items on it, and stick it on. People will hassle you down for cheaper prices, but thats apart of a garage sale. Now if something doesn't work, make sure the person that is interested understands it doesn't work. You may only get a couple dollars for it depending on what it is... But hey, if it's broken and you don't use it a buck is a buck! lol... Good luck!

I do not have any experience in garage selling. I think it is a good thing to do especially when you want to get rid of things that you do not want and it will helps to earn some money. I think if there are lots of people around your neighborhood, you can try some fresh juice and lemon juice for sales and also some snacks along with it. This will help to earn some extra money. Also try e-bay and different other online sites for selling things and this will help to increase your selling process and also to get some additional income.

I wouldn't sell anything defective. First, I don't knnow where you live, but here you're supposed to get a garage sale permit, which costs 5 dollars here. I don't think many people do it though. I wouldn't! The most important thing is to have change. If someone buy something you always want to be prepared to have change on hand.

Well here people don't go for garage sell, very few people will buy used cloth, shoe etc; they do buy used second hand bikes, cars etc.. Some exchange used dresses, saris against steel utensils from vendors

My aunt did a garage sale to the community. It was a great experience for all of us, since we assisted her for this.
