Are peanuts rather unhealthy than healthy food?

When I was younger, I read from somewhere that peanuts are brain food. And because I was an A student, I was hoping to increase the level of my mental function to help me maintain my high grades. So, I always requested my mom to bring home peanuts for me to munch while studying. Then, later on, another article was released claiming that there isn't any real brain food, at all. Not even my favorite peanut. In fact, the article even claimed that it's not healthy. Made me sad. But, based from recent studies, there are really good benefits that this food offers our body. For one it is a good source of minerals which help the brain function well. I believe this is what supports my earlier learning that it is a brain food. It is rich in Vitamin B3. Peanuts are natural antioxidants. It also aids in blood circulation, helps fight depression, and helps in weight loss. Just to name a few. These are what I learned so far. And I am not only being biased just because it's one of my favorite snacks, huh. What do you think? Is this your kind of snack, too?

Peanuts as what you've said is a type of food which gives us a lot of benefits that could help our body healthy. but I believe that peanut has also its down side because peanut also produces oil, it may also affect our body, therefore if our body produces many oil, it may cause blisters and pimples, so I suggest when eating peanut it should always be in moderation..

Thanks for the reminder. I don't really eat anything in excess. But, about what you mentioned...peanuts are said to have healthy fats not the unhealthy ones. Like the monounsaturated fatty acids and the list of many vitamins and minerals it contains goes on. Though, true enough, still need to be taken in moderation. Anything taken in excess can be unhealthy.

They said that peanuts are food for the brain, that's why they are reccommending this for those who are studying their lessons. However, upon listening to morning TV show, I concluded that it wll nothing to do with helping you smarter but because peanut releases or enhances our body to release anti-sleep hormone (I forgot the name) which keep us awake making our study better. On the other hand, peanut is good for us becuase of the nutrients it contain. Since it came from plant source, it has fiber. Furthermore, it is rich in protein and oil whicch is essential to our body.

peanuts are health foods, it is a brain food since it contains some minerals or something that aids our for easier memorization, and for good brain function , but as we all know too much of everything is bad, so i guess eat peanut moderately.

Peanuts are really yummy and tasty. While they provide good nutrients for the human body they should not be eaten in excess as they are very high in fat (not animal fat of course). So, a small portion of them does not only kill your appetite but is also very good for you.
