I am going to start a low carb diet tomorrow. It won't be a formal diet like Dr. Atkins, the Paleo Diet, or South Beach. I am going to eat lots more meat, chicken and fish than I usually do and eat a lot more vegetables and salads than fruit. No bread, no poratoes, no rice, no sugar, no starchy vegetables like corn or peas. I will drink fat free milk, lots of eggs, some yogurt, but little cheese. I have never tried a diet like this, but I am convinced that carbs, even in moderation, are what made me fat and what is keeping me fat. Has anyone had any success with a diet like this? How difficult is it to stay on a plan like this? Do you have a lot of cravings for sweet stuff? Did you gain the weight back after you went back on carbs?

I have heard about Atkins and South Beach since some of my friends have done it. Trust me when I say that if you eat them religiously and with ample exercise, you can definitely lose weight. The only reason that I don't try them is due to financial reasons. I cannot afford them for now.
In my lifetime, Was able to lose 25 pounds in 3 months by using Herbalife but it became too costly to maintain. Like anything in life, if you stop dieting and go back to your old habits of bingeing and being a couch potato, you tend to get back all the lost pounds and more.
The key here to maintaining your good weight is that everytime you get off track, just get back on track immediately as possible. I know it is easier said than done but it is the only way. Eat less, move a lot, substitute most food with fruits and drink plenty of water then you will be on your way to a healthier and slimmer you.

Good luck on your diet. Honestly, I believe you are better off learning healthy eating habits vs cutting out something altogether. The problems with diets that Rely heavily on meat is the health risks they cause. Also, they are hard to maintain. start off slow, cut out empty calories (soda, sweet tea, coffee drinks, junk food...anything processed) then slowly change the way ou eat. Focus on adding more fruits and vegetables in your diet, only allow whole grain carbs, eliminate red meat, only eat lean meat (chicken & fish) and clean burning plant based protein (tofu & beans, for example), and reduce or eliminate dairy (lots of fat and sodium).
You are better of getting rid of the chemicals, sodium, and ultra refined sugars than adding a lot of animal fat, antibiotics, and growth hormones to your body.
And of course, get moving! Set a small goal. Use the stairs instead of the elevator, park furher away from stores or before you shower do 10 leg lifts on each leg. A fiend of mine is doing 30 squats a day for 30 days. It isn't much (you can get them done in about a minute) but she is loosing weight and toning up her body with visible results.
