I've just been on Twitter recently. Now that I'm getting the hang of it, I find it quite useful when I need sources of reading materials. I followed lots of users there for sources on the things I'm interested in such as books, science.. plus I get to know updates about the activities in my city because my people tweet a lot lol.
I mentioned before that it's either FB or Twitter, because you only need one over the other. But I have both, and I think in terms of simplicity in productivity, Twitter has a card up its sleeve.
Another good thing is that I have access to lots of english-learning sources in Twitter. I have it all in one place, rather than having to bookmark sites I searched on Google.
Twitter is actually great for celebrities, but it's good for common people as well. And it's a great site to promote whatever it is you want to promote!
And that brings you to the question, do you find Twitter useful? Ever?

I had a Tweeter account a few years back and didn't see the point of it. How can one express oneself with only a limited number of characters or words to post? However, this year, I tried it (or was forced to) because our President General for the University I work part time with posts regularly some good things and announcements there.
Soon, I got the hang of it too and discovered that when you follow people who are worthwhile, then you'd learn a lot of things there too. I followed CNN, Fortune Magazine, Time, Adam (Mythbusters), Suzy Ormonde, Lifehacker, etc. and found that most of the things they post about is quite interesting and I could actually learn more in Tweeter than in Facebook.
So I think it's useful. It's even better than Facebook because there are people there who really write well. Unlike Facebook where people somehow uses it as a diary of their lives, it's too mainstream.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Exactly! You've explained it so well, that was what I was trying to come up with in the first place. And to use your word "mainstream" it really hits the nail on the head! I followed several writers, and there are some people there who really know how to share interesting stuff.
I might participate on Hubpages, I think it's really useful to generate revenues by using Twitter. Thanks for your great response :)

I recently opened a Twitter account because it was recommended as an effective way of promoting articles.
At first, it was confusing for me. Because all I could see were people who were telling to follow this one and that one to gain so many followers.
As a little experiment, I did follow one because he said if someone follows them, then they will gain more than 500 followers. I thought, why not? It might earn me more readers for my articles.
But I found out that it wasn't that entirely true. Because I followed two more who promised an abundance of gaining so many followers, and nothing happened. The 500+ followers turned out to be only two or worse, none.
On the other hand, I'm having fun reading some tweets about life quotes and those truly funny ones. I'm also following National Geographic because of the beautiful pictures that they have of Nature. Truly magnificent to look at!

I admit I found Twitter confusing before. But since a few of my friends are there and regularly post tweets there about what they're up to, I decided to sign up. To my surprise, I began to like it because of the many news updates I could subscribe to from international to local news companies. Over time, yes, I did find it useful.

That's how most of us find Twitter useful too. I don't tweets much over there except when I think there's really something worth sharing.

I haven't used Twitter yet.
But my relatives wanted me to so that we can be updated with each other. Still I'm adamant on using any social network like Facebook and Twitter but since you point out that there's other things I can do with Twitter I might try it now and check out what you've said since I like to find a good site for sources of my hobbies.

Glad I stimulated you on trying out Twitter. If you want to know more, just read about this person's response below. I don't mind following you on Twitter too, you might want to share some interesting stuff. For family updates on photos and memories, I think Facebook is the one for all that.

I think it's useful when you follow certain brands, companies or celebrities that you want to get information on and get their updates. I get a lot of news from my favorite restaurants and stuff with it :) I also use it to rant quite a bit when I'm having a bad day. Maybe being limited to 120 characters is bad for doing that lol.

Haha Facebook status is the best way to rant then :) I'm not following restaurants, but that might be a good idea. Thanks for your response!

I used to dislike and avoid Twitter as I found it hard to keep up. Then I realized that you don't really have a conversation in Twitter. It's more like quick bursts of one-liners and occasionally directing people somewhere else. If you treat it like that, it's not bad at all. Great way to find people with similar interests and see what they're blogging about, too.

"Quick bursts of one-liners" - what an interesting way to put it. Sometimes I find it quite hard to keep up with Twitter too, there are just lots of tweets coming in in every few minutes(or seconds) and then I figured, what the heck I'm not going to die if I missed out on some of the tweets. So in some ways it can get quite unhealthy if left unchecked.

I like twitter also because I can follow people that are funny . I find it useful in promoting my blog and seeing what my favorite celebrities are up to . I also have both account and I find Facebook more my style .
Twitter is more a promotion tool while Facebook is more social for real people.
