Cid, the son of my niece, was born prematurely and a result of this is ROP, retinopathy of prematurity, an eye disease that affects prematurely-born babies. He fought for his life for about a month from the day he was born in February of 2010. After some months later, after a series of medical tests, he underwent a series of eye surgeries, the result of which is a 50-50 chance of him developing vision. He is now 2 years old, healthy and making his first few steps but we are still waiting for signs of his vision. If a child with disability is born into your family, how would you feel and deal with the situation?

They are special child, there is no reason for having second thoughts of providing support and care for them. Life will not end there, it is new challenge to accept the gift from God. I've been dealing with children inflicted with various medical conditions, similar like this or even more severe cases.

It is good to know that there are people who love to deal with disabled people. It would really be great if all people around the world will do the same.

I may feel much pity for my family member. Surely it may be hard to deal with and it will be a big challenge for him. Despite of that, I will love him together with my other family members and when he is old enough to understand things, I can inspire him through the life stories of successful people with disabilities like Nick Vujicic. I would be rather concerned because of the financial situation that the surgery may entail, and if he or she will get better. However, one cannot prevent the birth of such a child. It may be that the condition is an inherited contrition, that it runs in the family, and you may have been lucky. I would get as much help as I could and would love the child as much as others. But honestly I do not know what I would do. It really hurts because I prayed to give birth to a child who would be healthy and have nothing wrong with him, but never got pregnant - not counting miscarriages, so I wondered whether if I had not asked for a healthy child, whether the only children I would bear would be sickly and have something medically wrong with them.

Hi galloper30, This is very sad to hear, premature babies will have some disabilities, if he is having eye problem consult Ayurvedic doctor if you know, i was told some of the people got rectified with Ayurvedic medicine. Chances may be there to get vision. Have a nice day.
